3 1 Product Description 1.1 Supported Operating Systems The software can be operated on the following Windows operating systems: Windows 10, 32/64 Bit Windows 8.x, 32/64 Bit Windows 7, 32/64 Bit 1.2 Software Features The software provides the functionality to connect a Windows PC to an mguard, mguard Secure Cloud Public, and mguard Secure Cloud Private by use of encrypted VPN tunnels. 4 1.5 Important Installation and Update Information There are two different installers for the msvc based on the used processor architecture Bit Architecture The 32 bit architecture is supported by the following installation file: mguard-secure-vpn-client-win-x exe Bit Architecture The 64 bit architecture is supported by the following installation file: mguard-secure-vpn-client-win-x exe Licensing The mguard Secure VPN Client is available as 30-day free trial version and as full version. The required license for the full version can be acquired through: After the trial period is expired it is possible to re-activate the product with the commercial license. Page 3

6 3 Identified Issues and Workarounds Issue VPN connection cannot be established if another VPN client installed (Ref ) Description Synopsis The msvc may not be able to establish a VPN connection if another VPN client is installed on the same host. Symptom VPN connection cannot be established. Workaround / Action Uninstall the other VPN client. Issue msvc not listed under 'Apps & Features' on Windows 10 (Ref ) Description Synopsis After installation on Windows 10 the msvc is not listed under 'Apps & Features'. Symptom It isn't possible to uninstall the VPN client with Windows program management 'Apps & Features'. Workaround / Action Execute the msvc installation file and select 'Remove Program'. Issue Update is not successfully continued (Ref ) Description Synopsis During an update of the msvc by use of the installation file the previous version will be de-installed followed by a Windows reboot. After this reboot the previous version is de-installed but the installation of the new version is not automatically started. Symptom Update not finished after reboot. Workaround / Action Perform the update via msvc's 'Help Search for Updates' menu or execute the installation file again after reboot. Page 5
