4 Introduction Microsoft Management Reporter Feature Pack 1 is designed to help you create financial reports that can be tailored to meet the needs of any company. Designed by accountants for accountants, Management Reporter empowers finance professionals to create high-volume, presentation-quality reports in minutes. The report wizard makes it easy for you to design, store, and generate reports from reusable building blocks containing row, column, and tree definitions. This approach eliminates the need to re-create common scenarios each reporting period. What s new Management Reporter Feature Pack 1 includes several new features designed to enhance the functionality of Microsoft Management Reporter 2.0. Integration to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 The Management Dynamics AX data provider acts as a bridge between Microsoft Dynamics AX and Microsoft Management Reporter. Information from Microsoft Dynamics can be displayed and manipulated in financial reports created in Management Reporter without impacting the original data. For more information on Microsoft Dynamics AX data provider integration, see the Microsoft Dynamics AX Data Provider Integration Guide. Currency translation in Microsoft Dynamics GP Feature Pack 1 for Management Reporter offers new functionality to expand existing currency translation capabilities. This update works with new features offered in the install of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 Service Pack 1. Note: You must set up the translation currencies Multicurrency Setup window in Microsoft Dynamics GP. Management Reporter will only display translation currencies taken from the originating application. You can use the currency translation window to translate beginning balance information for average and historical currency translation types. Note: If a historical currency cannot be located, the currency will appear as the functional currency multiplied by one. Management Reporter 4
5 The currency source and currency filter in Report Designer in Management Reporter work in conjunction so that when you select a currency filter in a column definition, the amounts continue to be translated from the functional or originating currency into the reporting currency. The new feature allows you to choose a separate reporting currency in addition to the functional and originating currencies. The following table illustrates the report results for the various combinations of currency source and currency filter with U.S. dollars (currency code USD) as the functional currency. Currency Source Currency Filter Report Result NAT YEN Y6,000 FUNCT YEN $60* FUNCT none $2,310** NAT USD $2,250 * Conversion rate at approximately 100 yen per U.S. dollar. ** FUNCT currency source with an unset currency filter displays the sum of the transactions that originated in USD and YEN, shown in U.S. dollars. For example, if the company s originating currency is U.S. dollar and the transaction is entered in Japanese yen, you can see a column displayed in dollars and a column displayed in yen. The new functionality allows for reporting from the company s functional currency to any currency defined as a translation currency. If your company is looking to expand to other countries and currencies, you can print a report that shows the functional amounts in an additional currency. If a company would like to expand its market in Germany, for example, you can print a report that shows the functional amounts in German deutschmarks and all the functional amounts would be translated to that selected currency. For more information and instruction on currency translation refer to the Microsoft Dynamics GP Currency Translation Supplement. System requirements For information about the hardware and software supported with Management Reporter, refer to the System Requirements. Management Reporter 5
