1 UJUMBE WA URAIS WA KWANZA, MEI 2012 Na Rais Thomas S. Monson Mbio za Maisha Sisi tulitoka wapi? Kwa nini tuko hapa? Tutaenda wapi baada ya maisha haya? Haya maswali ya kawaida hayafai kubaki bila kujibiwa. Ndugu na dada zangu wapendwa, asubuhi hii ningependa kuwambia ninyi kweli za milele hizo kweli ambazo zinaimarisha maisha yetu na kutupeleka nyumbani salama. Kila mahali, watu wako mbioni. Ndege za jeti zinaharikisha mizigo yake ya binadamu ya thamani kuvuka bara pana na bahari kuu ili kwamba mikutano ya biashara iweze kufanyika, majukumu yatendeke, likizo zifanyike, na familia kutembelewa. Maswali haya na mengine mengi kama haya hufifia katika umuhimu wake wakati matatizo yanapoibuka, wakati wapendwa wetu wanapoumia au kujeruhiwa, wakati ugonjwa unapoingia katika nyumba yenye afya, wakati mshumaa wa maisha unapofifia na giza linapotishia. Mawazo yetu yanachongwa, na kwa urahisi tunaweza kutambua kile kilicho cha muhimu hasa na kilicho duni tu. Majuzi nilimtembelea mwanamke ambaye alikuwa anapigana na ugonjwa unaotishia uzima kwa miaka miwili. Alisema kwamba kabla ya ugonjwa wake, siku zake zilijawa na shughuli kama vile kusafisha nyumba mpaka ikwatuke na kuijaza na fanicha na vyombo vya urembo. Alikwenda kwa mtengeneza nywele wake mara mbili kila wiki na kutumia fedha na muda kila wiki kuongeza mavazi yake. Wajukuu walikuwa wanaalikwa kwa uadimifu sana, kwani alikuwa na hofu kwamba kile alichofikiria kuwa mali yake ya thamani ingeweza kuvunjwa au kuharibiwa na mikono midogo isiyo na uangalifu. Na halafu akapokea habari za kustusha kwamba maisha yake yakuwa hatarini na kwamba angekuwa na maisha mafupi sana yaliyobakia. Tulitoka wapi? Kwa nini tuko hapa? Tutaenda wapi baada ya kuacha maisha haya? Majibu ya maswali haya hayawezi kupatikana ndani ya vitabu vya usomi, kwa kutafuta katika Intaneti. Haya maswali yanashinda maisha ya muda. Yanakumbatia umilele. Je! Tulitoka wapi? Hii swali haliepukiki kufikiriwa, kama alisemwi, na kila mwanadamu. Mtume Paulo aliwaambia Wathene katika Kilima Mars kwamba sisi tu 1

2 wazao wa Mungu. 2 Kwa vile tunajua kwamba miili yetu ni uzao wa wazazi wetu wa kimwili, lazima tuchuguze maana ya maneno ya Paulo. Bwana alitangaza kwamba Na roho na mwili ndiyo nafsi ya mwanadamu. 3 Na hivyo ndivyo ilivyo roho uzao wa Mungu. Kuwepo baada ya kifo? Kifo ni mwisho wa yote? Robert Blatchford katika kitabu chake God and My Neighbor, alishambulia vikali sana imani zinazokubalika za Kikristo kama vile Mungu, Kristo, maombi na hasa maisha ya milele. Alisisitiza kwamba kifo kilikuwa mwisho wa kuishi kwetu na kwamba hakuna yeyote anayeweza kuthibitisha vingine. Kisha kitu cha kushangaza kikafanyika. Ukuta wa shaka ghafula ukabomoka hata mavumbini. Ukweli huu umefunzwa na manabii walio hai katika nyakati zote. Pia unapatikana katika maandiko matakatifu yetu. Katika Kitabu cha Mormoni tunasoma maneno mahususi na ya kufariji: Sasa, kuhusu hali ya roho kati ya kifo na ufufuo Tazama, nimejulishwa na malaika, kwamba roho za watu wote, mara zinapotoka kwa mwili huu wa muda, ndio, roho za watu wote, zikiwa njema au ovu, zinachukuliwa nyumbani kwa yule Mungu ambaye alizipatia uhai. Hayupo hapa, amefufuka. 14 Kama matokeo ya ushindi wa Kristo dhidi ya kaburi, sisi sote tutafufuka. Huu ndio ukombozi wa nafsi. Paulo aliandika: Tena kuna miili ya mbinguni, na miili ya duniani; lakini fahari yake ile ya mbinguni ni mbali, na fahari yake ile ya duniani ni mbali. 15 Ni utukufu wa selestia ambao tunataka. Ni katika uwepo wa Mungu tunatamani kuishi. Ni familia za milele ambazo tunataka ushiriki wake. Baraka kama hizo zinapatikana kupitia kujitahidi maishani, kutafuta, kutubu, na mwishowe kufaulu. Je! Tulitoka wapi? Je! Kwa nini tuko hapa? Je! Tutaenda wapi baada ya maisha haya? Haifai kamwe kuwa maswali haya muhimu kukosa kujibiwa. Kutoka kwa kina cha nafsi yangu na katika unyenyekevu wote, mimi nashuhudia kwamba hivi vitu vyote ambavyo nimeongea ni vya kweli. Baba yetu wa Mbinguni hufurahia kwa ajili ya wanaoweka amri Zake. Yeye anajali pia mtoto aliyepotea, kijana ajizi, kijana mpotevu, mzazi mkosaji. Kwa upole Bwana anasema na hawa, na hasa kwa wote: Njoni tena, Njoni hapa. Njoni ndani. Njoni nyumbani. Njoni kwangu. Katika wiki moja sisi tutasherekea Pasaka. Mawazo yetu yatageukia maisha ya Mwokozi, kifo Chake, ufufuko Wake. 4 Mafundisho ya Wakati Wetu Mafundisho ya Jumapili ya nne kwa Ukuhani wa Melkizedeki na Muungano wa Usaidizi wa Kina Mama yatatengwa kwa Mafundisho ya Wakati Wetu Kila somo linaweza kutayarishwa kutoka kwa hotuba moja au zaidi za mkutano mkuu wa hivi majuzi (ona chati hapa). Marais wa vigingi na wilaya wanaweza kuchagua hotuba zitakazotumiwa, au wanaweza kuwapa majukumu maaskofu na marais wa matawi. 6 kwa Baba, na Mimi nikachukua na kukamilisha maandalizi yangu kwa wanadamu. 3 Wewe na mimi tuna imani kwamba njia ya kuinuka kupitia na kushinda majaribu ni kuamini kwamba kuna mafuta katika Giliadi 4 na kwamba Bwana ameahidi, sitakupungukia... sitakuacha. 5 Hivi ndio Rais Thomas S. Monson ametufunza sisi na wale tunaohudumu katika kile kinachoonekana kuwa upweke na majaribu makali. 6 Lakini Rais Monson amefunza pia kwa hekima kwamba msingi wa imani kihalisi ya zile ahadi huchukua muda kujengeka. Unaweza kuwa umeona haja ya huu msingi kama vile nimepata kuona kandoni mwa mtu aliye tayari kushindwa na vita ili kuvumilia hadi mwisho. Kama msingi wa imani haujapandwa katika mioyo yetu, uwezo wa kuvumilia utabomoka. Madhumuni yangu leo ni kuelezea kile ninachojua kuhusu jinsi tunavyoweza kuweka ule msingi usiotikisika. Nafanya hivyo kwa unyenyekevu mkuu kwa sababu mbili. Kwanza, kile nitakachosema kinaweza kuwavunja moyo wengine wenu ambao mnapambana ndani ya dhiki kubwa na kuhisi misingi yao ya imani inabomoka. Na pili, najua kwamba yale majaribu makubwa sana yapo mbele yangu kabla mwisho wa maisha. Kwa hivyo dawa ninayowapa bado haijathibitishwa katika maisha yangu mwenyewe kupitia kuvumilivu hadi mwisho. Kujenga msingi thabiti kwa majengo ilikuwa ni vigumu siku hizo. Pia ilihitaji subira. Baada ya kumwaga kitako cha nyumba tulingojea kikauke. Hata kwamba tulitaka kuendeleza kazi mbele, tulingojea pia kumwagia msingi kabla ya kuondoa umbo. Na kilichokuwa cha kustajabisha kwa mjenzi mgeni kilikuwa ni kile kilichoonekana kuwa kigumu na mfanyiko uliochukua muda mrefu wa kuweka vyuma ndani ya umbo ili kupatia msingi uliomalizika nguvu. Kwa njia hio hio, uwanda lazima utayarishe vyema kwa msingi wetu wa imani ili ustahimili dhoruba ambazo zitakuja katika kila maisha. Sehemu thabiti muhimu kwa msingi wa imani ni uaminifu wa kibinafsi. Kuchagua kwetu kwa kile kilicho sahihi kila mara wakati chaguzi zimeweka mbele yetu hujenga uwanda thabiti chini ya imani yetu. Inaweza kuanza utotoni kwa vile kila nafsi huzaliwa na kipawa cha bure cha Roho wa Kristo. Kwa yule Roho tunaweza kujua wakati tumefanya kile kilicho sahihi mbele za Mungu na wakati tumefanya kosa mbele Zake. Hizo chaguzi, kwa mamia katika siku nyingi, hutayarisha uwanda thabiti ambao majumba yetu ya imani hujengwa. Vyuma ambavyo dutu ya imani yetu humwagwa ni injili ya Yesu Kristo, pamoja na maagano, maagizo, na kanuni zake zote. Mojawapo ya funguo za imani zinazodumu ni kuhukumu vyema ule wakati wa kukauka unaohitajika. Hii ndio maana nilikuwa mpumbavu kuomba mapema sana katika maisha yangu nipate milima mirefu ya kukwea na majaribu makuu. Huku kukauka hakutokezi kiotomatiki kupitia mpito wa masaa, bali uchukua muda. Kuzeeka peke yake hakutafaa. Ni katika kumtumikia Mungu na wengine daima kwa moyo na nafsi kujufu ambako ubadilisha ushuhuda kuwa nguvu za kiroho zisizovunjika. Sasa, ningependa kuwatia moyo wale waliopo katikati ya majaribu makali, ambao wanahisi kuwa imani yao inafifia chini ya mashambulizi ya shida. Shida zenyewe zinaweza kuwa njia yako ya kuimarisha na hatimaye kupata imani isiyotingisika. Moroni, mwana wa Mormoni katika Kitabu cha Mormoni, alituambia jinsi baraka zinaweza kuja. Moroni alifunza uwezo wa imani hiyo kwa njia hii: Na wala kwa muda wowote hakujawa na yeyote ambaye amefanya miujiza mpaka awe na imani; kwa hivyo waliamini kwanza katika Mwana wa Mungu. 8 Niliongea na mwanamke ambaye alipokea mwujiza wa nguvu za kutosha ili kuvumilia misiba isiyoweza kufikirika tu kwa uwezo wa kurudia maneno bila kikomo, Najua kwamba Mkombozi wangu yu hai. 9 Imani hiyo na maneno hayo bado yalikuwepo hapo katika ukungu bali hayakufuta kumbukumbu za utotoni wake. Ninashangaa kuona mwanamke mwengine aliyemsamehe mtu 2

7 aliyemkosea kwa miaka mingi, nilistajabu na kumuuliza kwa nini alichagua kumsamehe na kusahau miaka mingi sasa ya dhuluma. Alisema kwa upole, Kilikuwa kitu kigumu ambacho nimewahi kufanya, lakini nilijua nilifaa kukifanya, Kwa hivyo nilikifanya. Imani yake kwamba Mwokozi atamsamehe kama yeye atawasamehe wengine ilimtayarisha kwa hisia ya amani na matumaini alipokabiliwa na kifo miezi tu baada ya kumsamehe adui wake asiyekuwa tayari kutubu. Aliniuliza, Nitakapofika huko, itakuwaje huko mbinguni? Na mimi nikasema, Mimi najua tu kutokana na kile nimeshaona kuhusu uwezo wako wa kutumia imani na kusamehe kwamba itakuwa makaribisho ya ajabu kwako. Nina tumainisho lingine kwa wale sasa wanaoshangaa kama imani yao katika Yesu Kristo itatosha kwao kuvumilia vyema hadi mwisho. Nimebarikiwa kuwajua wengine wenu ambao mnasikiliza sasa mlipokuwa vijana, wachangamfu, mmezawadiwa kuliko wengi wenu wa karibu nanyi, hali mlichagua kufanya kile Mwokozi angependelea mfanye. Kutoka na wingi wenu mmepata njia za kuwasaidia na kuwatunza wale mnaweza kutowaangalia au kuwadharu kutokana na nafasi zenu katika maisha. Majaribu yanapokuja, imani ya kuyavumilia vyema itakuwepo, iliyojengwa kama mnavyoweza kutambua bali hamkuweza wakati ambao mlitenda juu ya upendo halisi wa Kristo, mkihudumu na kuwasamehe kama vile Mwokozi angefanya. Mnajenga msingi wa imani kutoka kwa kupenda kama vile Mwokozi anavyopenda na kuhudumu kwa ajili Yake. Imani yenu katika Yeye iliwapeleka kwa vitendo vya hisani ambavyo vinaleta matumaini. Bado hajachelewa sana kuimarisha msingi wa imani. Daima kuna wakati. Kwa imani katika Mwokozi, unaweza kutubu na kuomba msamaha. Kuna mtu unaweza kusamehe. Kuna mtu unaweza kushukuru. Kuna mtu unaweza kuhudumia. Unaweza kufanya hivyo popote ulipo na vyovyote unavyohisi mpweke na kutupwa. Siwezi kuahidi kumalizika kwa dhiki yako katika maisha haya. Siwezi kuhakikisha kwamba majaribu yako kuwa yatakuwa ya muda. Mojawapo wa sifa bainifu za majaribu katika maisha ni kuwa yanaonekana kufanya saa kwenda pole pole na kisha karibu kusimama. Kuna sababu za hivyo. Mkijua hizo sababu hazipatiani faraja, bali zinaweza kuwapatia hisia za subira. Hizo sababu zitatokana na jambo hili moja: katika upendo Wao kamili kwako, Baba wa Mbinguni na Mwokozi wanataka ninyi kuunganishwa Nao na kuishi katika familia milele. Ni wale tu watatakaswa kikamilifu kuwa wasafi kupitia Upatanisho wa Yesu Kristo wanaweza kuwa. Mama yangu alipigana na saratani kwa karibu miaka 10. Matibabu na upasuaji na mwishowe kulazwa kitandani kulikuwa ni kati ya majaribu yake. Nakumbuka baba yangu akisema akimtazama akitweta pumzi zake za mwisho, Msichana mdogo ameenda nyumbani kupumzika. Mmoja wa wanenaji katika mazishi yake alikuwa ni shemejiye na rafiki Rais Spencer W. Kimball. Na manabii wakifunua kwetu nafasi zetu katika mpango wa wokovu tunaweza kuishi kwa matumaini kamili na hisia za amani. Hatutakuwa na haja ya kuhisi kwamba tu wapweke au hatupendwi katika huduma ya Bwana, kwa sababu sivyo kamwe. Tunaweza kuhisi upendo wa Mungu. Mwokozi ameahidi malaika kushoto kwetu na kulia kwetu, atatuhimili. 10 na Yeye hutimiza neno Lake. Nashuhudia kwamba Mungu Baba yu hai na kwamba Mwanawe Mpendwa ni Mkombozi wetu. Roho Mtakatifu amethibitisha kweli katika mkutano huu na atafanya hivyo tena kama mtatafuta kama mnaposikiliza na mnaposoma hapo baadaye jumbe za watumishi wa Bwana wenye mamlaka ambao wako hapa.
