5 Introduction to Social Media Web 2.0 applications which support user content-creation and collaboration People seek and share ideas, information, experiences, expertise, opinions, and emotion with both acquaintance and strangers on the Internet, based on the effect of the Wisdom of Crowds (Surowiecki, 2004). Definition of Social Network Site (SNS): o A web-based services that allow individuals to (1) construct a public or semi-public profile within a bounded system, (2) articulate a list of other users with whom they share a connection, and (3) view and traverse their list of connections and those made by others within the system. (Boyd & Ellison, 2007, p. 211)
