My specific duties include seeking outside funding sources (grant proposal writing); setting annual goals and strategic planning for COSAP and the New Mexico Higher Education Prevention Consortium; administering surveys; conducting a program of formative and evaluative research including the collection, management, analysis, and presentation of data, preparing reports; developing university alcohol/drug policies and ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal drug free workplace and drug free campus guidelines and policies; developing curricula and implementing prevention training programs with student leaders and staffs; publicizing COSAP programs to students and other constituencies via newsletters, brochures, pamphlets, Listservs, and press releases; developing and conducting social norms and social marketing campaigns via traditional print media and website and online social media channels; developing learning materials and facilitating a psycho-educational workshop for students with disciplinary sanctions; and community organizing and providing prevention and program evaluation technical assistance. Through my work at COSAP and for my consulting clients I also manage
2 fiscal and human resources, develop and conduct prevention training in the area of the neurological effects of beverage alcohol and environmental approaches to prevention, manage operating budgets, and work collaboratively with a variety of UNM programs and departments in the prevention of substance abuse and its consequences. Teaching / Training Experience: The New Mexico Prevention Training System. Albuquerque, NM, Presently a trainer for persons seeking the Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) certification present The UNM Peer Educator Program. I develop training curricula and advise undergraduate peer educators on conducting ATODA presentations for UNM students and student groups present The UNM Alcohol Awareness and Education Program. I have developed, revised, and contributed to curriculum, and am the lead facilitator of this workshop for judicially sanctioned students at UNM present. The Life Link, Santa Fe, New Mexico. I co-authored the curriculum for What Preventionists Need to Know About Alcohol, Environmental Strategies for Prevention, and Environmental Strategies for Underage Drinking continuing education courses developed for the New Mexico Department of Health s Behavioral Health Services Division New Mexico Statewide Tobacco Education Program- (STEP) Developed alcohol and tobacco media literacy training curriculum for this Albuquerque, New Mexico based youth program by The Albuquerque Partnership. April 2003 Teaching Assistant (UNM) General Psychology (Psych 105) course discussion groups, Assistant TA for Statistical Principles (Psych 200). 4 Clinical Experience: The New Mexico Lawyers Assistance Program. I provide employee assistance and drug and alcohol compliance monitoring services to the New Mexico Bar Association. May 2001 January 2011 Group Motivational Enhancement Therapy Study. I conducted extensive intake assessments and follow-up interviews with an adult veteran alcohol abusing population. June 1997 January 1998 Motivational Interviewing with Alcohol Detox Patients. In addition to assessment interviews, I conducted one-hour educational sessions with patients randomized into the control group. January 1998 April 1998 Mental Health Worker. I participated on a team of para-professionals on Exposure and Response Prevention treatment for OCD patients with Charles Eliott Ph.D, an Albuquerque area psychologist. January 1998 May 1998 Prevention & Program Evaluation Experience: The Rio Rancho Public Schools. Program evaluation of a NM DOH direct services elementary-school ATOD prevention program. September present MADD New Mexico: Protecting You, Protecting Me. Program evaluation for a elementary school alcohol prevention program. March 2005 present The Albuquerque Partnership. Provided program evaluation services on state and Bernalillo County funded grants/projects. October UNM Campus Office of Substance Abuse Prevention (COSAP). Project Director for the New Mexico Department of Health funded Strategic Prevention Framework, State Incentive Grant (SPF-SIG). My principle duties include the management of a Higher Education Prevention Coalition in New Mexico, and coordination of SPF-SIG AOD prevention programs at UNM. During the second year of Project TARGET, The DOE funded college drinking prevention project detailed below I moved my place of employment to UNM but continued in the same role with the addition of health education duties with college students. Served as Project Coordinator for the US Department of Education funded Project TARGET. TARGET is a joint venture between The UNM Campus Office of Substance Abuse Prevention (COSAP) and The Albuquerque Partnership, a non-profit agency specializing in substance abuse prevention via community and environmental strategies. August 2003 September 2003 The MADD Youth in Action (YIA) Program. Provided program evaluation services for this nationally based youth alcohol prevention program. October 2002 May 2003 UNM Campus Office of Substance Abuse Prevention (COSAP). Six years experience as an undergraduate and a graduate student as a project coordinator for COSAP. My duties included supervising the administration of campus-wide large N student surveys, developing programs and curricula for various AOD prevention initiatives, conducting presentations for high risk student groups, dissemination of prevention programs to UNM branch campuses.
