3 Foreword Welcome to the new buildings In 1998, the prospect of new buildings t the centrl loction of Ersmus MC rose. Mny yers of plnning followed tht included preprtions on pper s well s the physicl clernce of the construction site. ut now, in Februry 2013, Ersmus MC hs become the proud owner of the first completed phse of the new buildings, which includes new workplce for you, the stff members. It my tke some getting used to; in ddition to new workplce, deprtments will lso see the move s n opportunity to optimize processes. We re lso wre of the fct tht in mny cses it will merely be n interim sitution resulting in further process nd logistics chnges for mny in This booklet ims to help you find your wy round the new buildings. We hope this new environment will become sfe, sustinble nd plesnt workplce for you, enbling you to continue your importnt work for Ersmus MC with the required professionlism, pssion nd fun. 6 1.2. Entrnces nd Reception Two new entrnces re now in use in the Westzeedijk cr prking grge (entrnce 5 nd entrnce 6) which give ccess to the new building sections. 10 2]The wy things work 2.1. Signge The signge is consistent with the existing signge system. The new buildings re comprised of building sections with their own building code. The codes re N, Nb nd Nc nd cn be found on the signs. Furthermore, the floors nd rooms hve been numbered. For exmple, destintion would be shown s N This would be room 20, on the 12th floor in building section N. The signs re blue nd green. Green signs indicte entrnces nd exits while drk blue signs give directions to other prts of the building nd light blue signs indicte where you currently re 2.2. Pneumtic mil delivery In the new buildings the mjority of the ptient mteril is sent using the pneumtic mil delivery system. The existing pneumtic mil delivery system will be linked to the new buildings between 2013 nd As of 2017, virtully ll helthcre-relted deprtments in the new buildings will hve pneumtic mil delivery terminls. Additionl informtion on how the pneumtic mil delivery works cn be found on the instruction crd t every pneumtic mil delivery terminl Clokroom Deprtments where chnge of clothes is required hve their own clokroom fcilities. In 2017, generl clokroom fcilities will become vilble in building phse ouwdeel West. 10

11 2.4. Climte control uilding N hs concrete core ctivtion. The concrete floors, ceilings nd wlls in this building section hve heting cbles tht het the building. The concrete core ctivtion very grdully hets or cools the building. The wter running through the cbles in the concrete re heted or cooled by ground source heting or cooling. The use of concrete core ctivtion hs resulted in the choice for keeping s much concrete s possible visible in building N. The corner rooms in building N hve been provided with ceiling heting elements so tht extr heting is possible if deemed necessry. The rooms concerned hve thermostts to operte the elements. The other building sections re heted nd cooled by n ir conditioning system. You cn djust the temperture of theblown ir (wrmer or cooler) using the thermostt in your room. The climte control system is tilored to the number of users of room nd the het lod of the equipment. If room hs structurlly more stff members or equipment present thn llowed, for exmple, during the extended use of meeting room by 30 people while the room hs been designed for use by 15 people, the climte control system will not work properly. It my tke while before the climte control system hs been properly progrmmed fter reloction to the new building. Any climte control complints should, therefore, be pssed on to the Service Portl so tht the instlltion mnger cn mke djustments where necessry. 11

12 2.5. Expressing room uilding N will hve expressing rooms on four floors. The expressing rooms will hve comfortble chir, tble nd sink. The expressing rooms cn be found on the 9th, 15th, 19th nd 23rd floors nd hve room numbers N- 905k, N-1505k, N-1905k nd N-2305k. Plese see the Service Portl for further informtion on the use of the expressing rooms Sun blinds The windows in the new buildings hve been fitted with solr control glss to restrict unwnted het nd sunlight entering the building. Should unwnted sunlight enter despite this glss, it is possible to lower ny roller blinds present using the pull cord Emergency power Restricted emergency power is vilble depending on the priority. Red wll sockets hve higher priority, but this does not gurntee emergency power. If the LED is lit there is power. 12

13 2.8. Crd reders Access to ll lift cores in N, Nb en Nc is controlled by crd reders. For entry to these floors you will need to use your Ersmus MC ID pss. However, not everyone hs ccess to ll floors; ccess depends on your position nd deprtment. Deprtments determine who hs ccess to the deprtment. Furthermore, stff members cn only ccess building N using their Ersmus MC ID pss Mondy to Fridy from 6:00 m nd 10:00 pm nd weekends from 8:00 m to 6:00 pm. Outside these times uthorized stff members cn report vi the intercom to gin ccess. Authorized stff members hve 24-hour ccess to Nb nd Nc. Unuthorized stff members nd visitors cn use the intercom. The wlkwy on the third floor, connecting the existing buildings with N, Nb nd Nc, cn be ccessed by ll stff members Windows All windows in the new buildings re tilt windows (see illustrtion) with the exception of deprtments/rooms requiring conditioned or ir conditioned environment, for exmple, lbortories, operting rooms nd intensive cre units. Needless to sy, opening the windows ffects the climte control system in the building. Remember to close the windows t the end of the dy. The window controls on the 2nd nd 3rd floors, djcent to the tri or corridors, re electronic. These windows close utomticlly in cse of fire Disbled toilets Disbled toilets in building N re locted on the 2nd, 3rd nd 5th floors nd on ll even floors from the 6th floor upwrds. Disbled toilets in building Nb nd Nc re locted on the ground floor nd the 3rd nd 4th floors. Signs to the disbled toilets cn be found on the floors themselves. 13

Service points Service points contin, mong other, kitchen unit (with coffee mking fcilities nd sink), copier/printer/ scnner nd cbinet with office supplies Keys nd key cbinets The new key policy pplies to the building sections N, Nb nd Nc, which mens, mong other, tht there re no locks on the doors in res secured by crd reders. Doors djcent to public res do hve locks. Also new is the policy tht keys re not to leve the site. Automtic nd controlled issunce of keys is by wy of key cbinets. These cbinets re locted t vrious points in the buildings. The key cbinets hve been temporrily plced on the 3rd floor of building section N, in room N-317, until Informtion on the use of the key cbinets will be sent Sprinkler The new buildings re equipped with sprinklers. A 50 cm rdius round the sprinkler heds must be kept free Telecommuniction Lndline phones s well s your mobile phone cn be used in the new buildings. With the exception of work - plces where more telephones re required, such s secretril services deprtments, the offices re equipped with 1 lndline phone. The lndline phones nd the computers shre single network cble tht will be instlled during the move. After the move to the new buildings, phone numbers will remin the sme. Multiple numbers cn be progrmmed per phone. If severl lnd - line phones re requested in one room, these cn be purchsed t own expense vi the Service Portl. Additionl instructions on how to use the phone cn be found on the instruction crd next to the phone or on the Service Portl. Further informtion on the tele - 14

15 communictions policy cn be found on the intrnet t ersmusmc.nl/nieuwbouw/ verhuizing/mijnverhuizing Lighting As you enter room, sensors utomticlly turn on the lights. On leving the room the lights will lso be utomticlly turned off fter some time. In ddition, the brightness of the lights is djusted, mong other, by the mount of sunlight entering the room Wterless urinls The new buildings hve wterless urinls. They sve lot of wter. Note: never flush wter down these urinls! Wi-Fi The new buildings hve WiFi network. 15

16 3]Where cn I find...? 3.1. Fire extinguishing equipment Fire extinguishing equipment is locted on every floor, usully combintion of fire hose reel nd seprte fire extinguisher. The fire extinguishing equipment is usully locted ner the stirwell. The exct loction of the fire extinguishing equipment is shown on the emergency evcution pln. With the exception of some lbortories (with other fire extinguishing equipment), the buildings re equipped with sprinklers Fire doors nd emergency doors The buildings hve been divided into comprtments nd these comprtments re seprted by fire door. In the unlikely event of fire, these doors will utomticlly close to restrict the spred of fire. Emergency doors re then utomticlly unlocked nd cn esily be opened to provide n escpe route to nother sfe comprtment. Lbortories must lwys hve t lest two exits; often nrrow emergency doors. Copiers The min copier/printer/scnner (lso known s multi - functionl equipment) cn be found in the service point on ll floors Desktop drwers nd lockers The desktop drwers nd cbinets will hve locks. Lockble lockers (not personl) re vilble in rooms without desktop drwers nd cbinets Lifts The new buildings hve severl lifts; every building section hs its own block of lifts nd stirwell. There re seprte goods lifts. The goods lifts cn only be used with n uthorized Ersmus MC ID pss. Specil system to cll lifts in building N uilding N hs 29 floors. The destintion floor level cn be selected on the pnel in the lift hll. The pnel then indictes which lift you cn tke: lift A to F. This mens tht once you re on your wy in the lift the destintion floor level cnnot be chnged. If you do, however, require nother floor, you will first hve to get out on the floor initilly selected nd then select the new floor on the pnel there Wste mngement Wste cn be disposed of in the designted continers locted t the wste mngement sttions. The wste mngement sttions in building section N cn be found in the vicinity of the service points. In building sections Nb nd Nc there re severl wste mngement sttions. The room numbers of these wste mngement sttions cn be found on the intrnet under mijn verhuizing (my reloction). 18

19 3.10. Post The postl ddress of Ersmus MC will remin unchnged. You cn pick up nd deposit your mil in the post boxes put t your building section s disposl. The boxes will be locted on the 3rd floor (N-319) of building section N until The post boxes will be plced ner ll lift cores on the first floor from the beginning of Remember to updte your detils in the guide to getting round Ersmus MC Resturnt In 2014, the new resturnt in the first building phse ouwdeel Oost will open its doors Stirwell Ech building section hs severl stirwells tht re locted ner the lifts. Green emergency exit signs indicte the stirwells. They re lso shown on the evcution plns. 19

20 4]In cse of emergency 4.1. Report In cse of fire, violence, n ccident or n emergency lwys cll *15 (from mobile phone ) nd report to locl corporte first id provider (in Dutch HV) nd wit his or her instructions. In cse of fire lwys press the mnul fire lrm cll point, which will inform security of the exct loction of the fire. Further - more, the fire deprtment will be notified immeditely Evcute If the evcution lrm sounds, the corporte first id provider nd/or evcution officer will commence evcution together with the emergency services. Alwys follow the instructions from the emergency services nd mke your wy to the min ssembly point nd wit further instructions. The buildings hve fire comprt - ments. In cse of n emergency you will lwys be directed to sfe fire comprtment. The disbled cn mke use of lifts in nother comprtment t the instruction of evcution officers Emergencies in lbortories In cse of n emergency in lbortory, the power supply cn be cut off using the red emergency button (mush- room button) ner the entrnce door. At centrl point on every floor there is lso key giving ccess to the stop - cocks in the technicl cbinets. All lbortories hve t lest two exits tht must not be obstructed. 20
