Company Policy Responsibilities GENERAL FUNCTION Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Curriculum, assist in the planning and oversight of the curriculum and assessment activities of the College of Medicine of the California University of Science and Medicine (CalMed-SOM), ensuring that these activities meet CalMed s vision, mission, goals, objectives, and core values. Assist in the design and implementation of CalMed-SOM s innovative academic curriculum, and the integrative course design as implemented by CalMed-SOM s scheduling strategy. Assist the Chair of the Department of Medical Education, by working directly under the Assistant Dean of Curriculum to perform functions that are related to the fulfilment of the required material for CalMed-SOM s accreditation process with BPPE, WASC, and LCME (Liaison Committee on Medical Education). The Academic Administrative Assistant, working closely with the Assistant Dean of Curriculum, will assist with the CalMed-SOM s initial and ongoing curriculum development. Responsibilities Provide administrative support for CalMed- SOM s Office of Medical Education, Work collaboratively with the Staff of the

4 Job Postings -- Page : 4 Office of Medical Education Be able to provide all necessary communications, under the guide and responsibility of the Assistant Dean of Curriculum, with course directors, general faculty and students regarding curriculum, clinical requirements, academic performance and strategic planning for the academic program. Align goals, objectives, and values with those of the University and Calmed-SOM. Assist in the development of the overall educational objectives and graduation competencies according to LCME (Liaison Committee on Medical Education) requirements. Assist in the design, implementation and administration of CalMed-SOM s MD educational curriculum. Assist in the oversight of the evaluation and revision of CalMed-SOM s curriculum. Assist in the direction and oversight of all aspects of CalMed-SOM s MD curriculum and assessment activities. Assist in the planning, development and implementation goals, objectives, and outcomes measures for the MD educational program as a whole. Assist in the development and the support of a technological platform that will link course content, activities, and assessments to the overall education objectives and graduation competencies. Identify and implement an appropriate technology platform to support curriculum management and evaluation, and documentation of student performance. Assist in the oversight of the College s Outcomes Assessment and Curriculum Management/Review processes. Make recommendations for innovative curriculum/programmatic changes (i.e.,

5 Job Postings -- Page : 5 improvements) to the Senior Associate Dean of Medical Education and/or Dean for appropriate action. Assist in the development and implementation of strategies for excellence in student performance on National and State Board Examinations. Assist in the management of the accreditation processes (LCME) for the College s MD educational program. Correspond both internally and externally regarding curriculum and assessment matters. Work with senior administrative staff from the Office of Medical Education on annual revisions to the CalMed-SOM s Catalog, Student Handbook and other internal and external education-related documents. Identify and participate in opportunities for educational scholarship related to the CalMed- SOM curriculum and assessment approaches. Participate in University-wide committee activities in the appropriate role. Participate in the CalMed-SOM s short and long-term strategic planning processes Assure the timely completion and distribution of internal and external reports and surveys. Adhere to CalMed-SOM s policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned/required.
