2 Budget Conscious Publicity tips Go viral with Social Media Use social media to promote your fundraising because it is free and effective. Social media is a simple way to get your messages across to your friends and followers. Facebook Use your Facebook page to tell your friends and family about your fundraising and ask them to sponsor you. Be sure to share your photos and videos of any preparation and of the event itself. And don t forget to share them with us on Facebook at /EnhamTrust. Twitter Though it is probably better that you ask for sponsorship in more personal ways, sending out a tweet to your followers is a quick and easy way to spread the word and send updates about your fundraising. and we ll even try to give you a retweet to our hundreds of followers! Get trending with an Enham Trust official hashtag! Be sure to tweet on Twitter and visit us on Facebook /EnhamTrust to share your event with our followers. We would love to hear what is going on! Go viral with one of our Enham official hashtags. Get ideas from other fundraisers with #EnhamFundraising. 3 YouTube Blogs If you are a budding filmmaker or a whizz with your camera phone you could use YouTube to keep a video diary. Use YouTube to document your fundraising or make a film telling people about your charity and why they should sponsor you. It s a unique and fun way to promote your fundraising and keep people interested in what you re doing. Enham Trust was established in 1919, that s nearly 100 years ago! Blogging is a fantastic way to keep people up to date with your progress. Blogs work as an online diary or scrapbook where you can add, pictures, links and even videos to your posts. Followers can sign up via and get your updates straight in their inbox! You could post about your training or event preparation, or even your donations to date. If you are doing a trek or row this could be fantastic opportunity for you to document your trip. PR Tips from our Press Officer Before the event try to get some pre-publicity! 1) Post details of your event on local What s On sites. These are free. Local newspaper What s On/Events Diary Local radio websites Tourist/visitor information websites 2) Write and send a press release to the local papers & local commercial and BBC radio you can find the addresses on their websites Try to make it stand out - find an interesting hook such as the attendance of a VIP, or a personal human interest angle Include Enham Trust/disability statistics if appropriate Remember to include: venue, date, time, how to buy tickets, & a contact for more information Invite them to attend if there is an interesting angle the radio may suggest recording a short interview ahead of the event. You could offer up an interviewee TV: If your event is very visual and lends itself to TV (an unusual angle, special human interest, an A-list celeb) then or call your regional TV newsrooms e.g. ITV Meridian News or BBC South Today Enham Trust Fundraising Pack 3

4 At the event Take photos Get quotes illustrating the success of the event especially from your guest of honour. Enham Trust will be happy to give you a quote too! Post comment/photo on social media (Twitter, Facebook etc) After the event Only 17% of disabled people were born with their disabilities. (Papworth Trust, 2012) Write and send a press release with report of your event with quotes, photo & captions remember to explain why you are supporting Enham Trust.
