21 Product Innovation Case Study MFI Service Bodies client responsible for the installation and servicing of fire sprinkler systems required a fleet solution of lower-clearance, compact vehicles for low-level car park entry whilst maintaining spacious, practical design to fit large volumes of equipment; a strong and practical workhorse with a professional appearance. Challenge Custom Service Body Specialists A large range of vehicle configurations across the existing fleet, which was problematic due to vehicle and employee swapping. A non-leaking and durable solution was essential. There were previous operational clutter issues, and tare weight was a major concern. Product Innovation Key Issue The weight of the pipe-threading machine created an OH&S hazard and required a two-man lift, tying up valuable man-hours better utilised elsewhere. Solution Internal partition layout and vertically-stacked four draw system to counter the excessive weight, tool disarray and surplus materials storage. Easy access to both tools and materials increased job efficiency and reduced time wastage, work hazards and employee risk. Innovation & Benefits MFI Service Bodies engineered and fabricated a hoist for the pipe threader, to operate the site unit without two staff being necessary. Reducing man-power, the hoist eliminated OH&S risk by removing the opportunity for accidents and work claims as a direct result of the heavy and awkward lifting involved.
