2 POLAND Poland is a country in Europe with a total area of square kilometers, and the population of about Poland shares land borders with its neighbouring countries: Germany, the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and Russia. The capital and biggest city in Poland is Warsaw with 1.6 million inhabitants. Other big cities are Krakow, Łódź, Wrocław and of course Poznań! The country is divided into 16 provinces. About 47% of the total area is utilized for agriculture and 28% covered by forests. There is a lake distraction the northern part of Poland, the central part is flat lowlands and southern part mountains range. 2
