1 State Library of Western Australia Get-It loan and copy service Procedure to Search and Request : - books, audio visual items, articles. Enter your SLWA membership card barcode as your user id and click on login. There is a default password which you can continue to use or you can change it through Account details and edit. Enter your search terms and click Search. The any or anywhere options in the drop down menu work as key word searches. The example below is searching using the title and author of a book. The system is checking the combined State Library of WA catalogue (the State Library and all WA public libraries) and the national Libraries Australia catalogue this is the Current Profile. Your search results will be displayed. If necessary, click SLWA to see all items held in WA libraries first. To request the item click on Get it!, or to see the full catalogue record click on details or the highlighted title / author statement from which you can then click Get it! If your search found too many records you can use sort options or filter options from the left hand side menu to refine it.

2 You do not need to select a record which indicates the item is available. The automated Document Delivery system will do that. When you have clicked Get-it! the request form will populate with the details from the record that you have chosen, and also your address. This will be used to advise you when the item is ready for collection from the State Library and also any special instructions regarding your request. There is a choice of the free State Library pick-up or a fee based Home Delivery postal service ($10 per item) available at the bottom of the screen (See Fee Based Services further on).

3 Click on Request to complete your request. Make a note of the id number or print details for tracking purposes. The id number is the unique number for your request.

4 ERROR MESSAGE If you get the above message when trying to make a Get-It request, please the title details to docs@slwa.wa.gov.au. You will be informed when this is fixed and you will be able to request the item. If your search has not found a record of the book that you require, click on Blank Form and fill the form out with as much detail as possible and click on Request. State Library staff will try and fulfil the request. If an item is found and the details you provided are changed or added to, your request will change accordingly. Tracking your requests To see the progress of your request, log in and go to the My Account menu on the left hand side of the screen and select the My Requests option.

5 You can cancel a request if you no longer require the item but this option is not available once the status has changed to shipped or received. The status messages are explained below: New A new request is waiting to be processed. Pending The requesting process has started but the item has not yet been received. Shipped The lending library has sent the item, but it has not yet been received in the State Library. Received The item has been received at the State Library of WA. For further information, see Receiving Requests below Renewal requested You have asked for a renewal and are awaiting a response from the lending library. The response is subsequently recorded in the details of your request and the status returns to received. You will receive an advising whether the loan has been renewed (with the new due date) or not. Overdue Your request is overdue and should be returned to the State Library as soon as possible. Please note that there could be replacement and non-refundable administrative costs charged to you if the item is not returned Returned The item has been sent back to the lending library. No holdings available no copies were available for loan. Recalled The lending library has asked for the item to be sent back. Please return it to the State Library as soon as possible.

6 The Circulation Status Request no longer required initially indicates you have cancelled the request and this is awaiting acknowledgement by the lending library. The status Cancelled means your action to cancel the request has reached the lending library and been accepted. Completed The request process has been completed and your request is archived in show everything. Lost or Damaged the item is reported by the State Library or the lending library as lost or damaged. RECEIVING YOUR REQUESTS When a Loan is ready you will receive an automatic message indicating the item is ready to be picked up from the State Library s Welcome Desk on the ground floor. We recommend you pick up the item as soon as possible to ensure you have the item for the full 4 week loan period. If it is not collected after 7 days it will be returned to the lending library. Please phone if you are unable to collect the item within that time limit. When a Copy request is ready you will receive an alert and can find the copy as an attachment to your request in your My Requests list. Please note for your recognition that alert s are sent from docs@slwa.wa.gov.au. Some users may need to add this to their list of recognised safe addresses. If you change your address, please go to Account details (left side menu), click Edit, and amend your record. You are allowed a maximum of 8 requests at any one time. This includes requests waiting to be filled as well as items lent to you. The system will remove returned and cancelled requests from My requests and enable further requests to be made. An archive of your requests is still available to view by clicking the Show everything box. PLEASE NOTE: if you use Borrow Direct from State Library you are limited to 8 loans from the combined services although you may still be able to make further requests and have pending items in Get-It! if its limit has not reached 8.

7 FEE BASED SERVICES Some libraries charge $16.50 for each loan and this charge is also levied for copy requests up to 50 pages. Please note that neither loan nor copy requests will be proceeded with until payment has been made. You will be sent an that will include the link to our online BPoint credit card payment page. A Home Delivery service is available for $10 per item and if you have requested this you will be sent an containing the link for payment. Delivery of the loan will not occur until payment has been made. Where possible delivery will be by Express Post. Returns can be by post or direct to the State Library, but not via public libraries. Fee based loans are the last resort for your request, which will not automatically be sent to a charging library. You will be advised if your request can only be met by a charging library and given the choice to accept or not. Within Copyright regulations, Copy requests can be made for particular pages of a book or for magazine or newspaper articles. Ensure the Service is changed to Copy and enter the relevant information. Fill in the author; title of chapter/article; volume, issue and page numbers.

8 Click on Request when you are satisfied that you have filled out as much information as possible in the correct fields. The copyright declaration will appear for you to read and accept. Make a note of the Request ID number or print the details for tracking purposes. If you have requested a loan you will be advised by alert when the item has been received in the State Library. If you have requested a copy it will be sent to you as a pdf attachment to your request
