Penny Rosenblum 2 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 9/10 - present Associate Professor of Practice: Specialization in Visual Impairment, Department of Disability and Psychoeducational Studies, University of Arizona. Responsible for day-to-day activities on personnel preparation grants to prepare teachers of children with visual impairments. Teach on-campus and distance education courses throughout Arizona and Nevada. Responsible for student recruitment, advisement, supervision of Internship, course development, and grant reporting activities. 9/05-8/10 Adjunct Associate Professor: Specialization in Visual Impairment, Department of Disability and Psychoeducational Studies, University of Arizona. Prepared teachers of students with visual impairments both on-campus and through distance courses. Responsible for recruitment, advising, internship supervision, and grant reporting. 9/09-8/10 Research Associate: Department of Cognitive Sciences, University of Arizona. Responsible for work on the AnimalWatch-VI an intelligenttutoring system, for middle school pre-algebra students to develop math problem skills. Responsibilities included recruiting participants, collecting data, and grant preparation. 12/08-8/09 Technical Expert: Department of Cognitive Sciences, University of Arizona. Worked with Dr. Carole Beal on the development of AnimalWatch-VI, an intelligent-tutoring system, for middle school pre-algebra students to develop math problem skills. Responsibilities included recruiting participants, collecting data, and grant preparation. 7/07-6/09 Consultant: American Foundation for the Blind, Professional Development Department, New York. Assist in the development of a web site for families of children with visual impairments titled Family Connect. Develop content, review materials, work with web team, and assist with other duties as needed. 10/04-1/06 Coordinator of the Teacher Design Collaborative Group Employed by Touch Graphics under their Phase 2 SBIR Grant, Development of an Authoring Tool to Allow Teachers to Create Audio Tactile Materials. Responsibilities include coordinating the five members of the Teacher Design Collaborative Group; assisting in the development of an international contest, judging the contest, and distributing talking tactile tablets to the winners; working with Mr. Landau, the PI, on reports, data collection, manuscript preparation etc.; presenting at national conferences.

Responsible for day-to-day activities on personnel preparation grants to prepare teachers of children with visual impairments. Specifically was responsible for the development of web-based courses, distance instruction, supervision of student teachers, advisement, grant management, and on campus teaching. From January 1, 2001 to December 1, % of time was spent on the project Early Intervention Training Center for Infants and Toddlers with Visual Impairments, a 5-year federal grant to prepare materials for university faculty to assist pre-service teachers in learning to work with families of children birth to age 3. 8/97-8/99 Assistant Professor. Program in Visual Disabilities, Department of Special Education, Florida State University. Responsible for research and teaching courses in special education and visual disabilities, as well as supervision and advisement of graduate and undergraduate students. Masters Directive Status awarded October, /93-7/97 Graduate Associate. Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation, University of Arizona. Assisted with courses, student teaching, grant writing and other aspects of a masters level teacher training program to prepare teachers of children with visual impairment. 3/95-5/97 Consultant for Children with Visual Impairment. Marana Unified School District, Marana, Arizona. Provided direct instruction and consultation to four students in a rural school district and facilitated the transition of a student from the Arizona State School for the Blind to her home school. 8/90-6/93 Teacher of Students with Visual Impairment and Multiple Disabilities. Charleston County School District, Charleston, South Carolina. Served as a classroom teacher for children ages to 3 to 10 years with visual impairment and multiple disabilities. Developed and implemented IEPs, infused technology into the classroom, and designed a Community Based Instruction program. 8/89-6/90 Adjunct Instructor. University of Miami, Miami, Florida. Designed and prepared a classroom to serve children with visual impairment birth to 3 years of age. Collaborated with psychologists and educators in the development of a series of training modules for caretakers of children birth to age 3. Specifically co-authored a training module about working with infants and toddlers who are visually impaired. Provided consultation, supervision, and inservice training to staff employed in early intervention facilities in southern Florida.
