1 CPA Direct User Guide

2 Logging On Go to the CPA Global Website, Select the link, Client Services at the top of the web page. This will bring you to the above page. Select the link, CPA Direct. This will open the CPA Direct login screen in a new window.

3 Enter you user details which will have been provided to you by CPA or your site administrator. This information is all case sensitive. If you have forgotten your password, contact your site administrator or send a request to CPA Global at cpadirect@cpaglobal.com

4 CPA Direct Work Space. You will be directed to the above screen (List Cases) once you have logged in. If any messages have been sent by CPA, you will initially be directed to the message screen. Tool Bar Options are List Cases List Accounts Filter Cases Search Cases Renewals By Reports Messages General Query Submitted Queries Client Information User Administration CPA Home Help Log Out

5 List Cases This function allows the user to list cases in various orders. Also it allows the user to view cases where we are awaiting official receipts List cases by Category Renewal Date Proprietor Country Division Code Status Patent, Design or Trademark Will show cases due in a specific year and month List of all proprietors in alphabetical order List of patent countries in alphabetical order List of all division codes if you have a divisional account List of all cases at a specific CPA Status Divides the portfolio into patents and designs (Trademarks no longer available on CPA Direct. Please contact CPA for access to Workbench, the online management tool for Trademarks if required) List all cases This facility allows you to view all cases on your account in 3 sort orders: File number Case code Client s reference Official receipts and certificates Patents and designs awaiting official receipt List of all cases on your account where CPA Global have processed a renewal but have not yet received the official receipt or official certificate of renewal. List Accounts Lists all accounts you have with CPA Global. Able to view the following information CPA Global Account number CPA Global Account name Account currency

6 Service Type Amount of Live cases on your account Amount of Dead cases on your account Address held by CPA Global associated to your account Search Cases This function allows the user to search for cases on CPA Direct. Case details drop down enables the user to select what they are searching for within CPA Direct. The search options are: Renewal Date Client name Client account number PT/DN/TM number (PT = Patent, DN = Design, TM not applicable) Application number Proprietor Clients reference Clients case code File number

7 Division code Date case added to CPA s records The value field is case sensitive. When the search is complete CPA Direct will list cases that have met the search criteria. A maximum of 250 cases can be returned by each search. If multiple cases are shown you can select on the underlined case detail to show that individual case. If multiple cases have been listed you are able to move between cases using Next case or the previous case button. See below example Renewals By This function allows the user to submit instructions on line via CPA Direct (administrator right only) Select PATENT & DESIGN from the tool bar.

8 This will show cases on your account and in the renewal cycle that are awaiting your instruction. These are shown in renewal date order If no renewals are currently due, no cases will be displayed. To submit your instruction, select the relevant box per case and select Submit. The next screen will be you confirmation screen. Review your instructions and select Send. Your instructions will be applied to your account immediately. Important Note if your instructions applies to a renewal which is due to lapse within 10 days of the date of processing via CPA Direct, please CPA Global with a follow up as a safety precaution. Send s to cpadirect@cpaglobal.com. Please mark the subject as Urgent Lapsing instruction via CPA Direct. Reports This function allows the user to generate budget and portfolio reports directly from your CPA Global account. Step 1 - Select Budget or Portfolio Report and click Next Step 2 - Select the box next to the relevant account and click Move. Then click Next Step 3 - Select any data filter requirements. Step 4 Select CSV file Step 5 Choose the fields you wish to include in your report. (Grey out fields are standard) and finish. Your report will load in an excel file. All columns can be manipulated to enable you to view the data to your requirements. NB. Budget reports all fess quoted are estimates only and do not include any urgency charges or late fees that may be imposed by agents and/or patent offices. Messages This will show any messages broadcasted by CPA Global to all users regarding system updates or periods of downtime. Messages may be sent to individual users if instructions submitted have been rejected via CPA Direct. Please ensure that these are checked regularly.

9 General Query This function enables the user to submit free text enquiries to CPA Global regarding any case held on their account. Please ensure to submit as much information as possible. Submitted Queries This function enables the user to view any queries that have previously been submitted via CPA Direct. Client Information (Currently under redevelopment) User Administration This function enables basic users to update their passwords. Full administrators are able to add/delete/update users within their group code. CPA Home This is a quick link to the CPA Global website which opens in new window. Help This function provides help regarding each header on the toolbar. Select your chosen header and then select Help from the CPA Direct tool bar. A new window will open which will contain information regarding the chosen header. If you do require further help with CPA Direct, we are able to offer Webex training. Please contact CPA Global for further information regarding this training.
