Training by research.
3. Innovative educational activities of CTU FMEch Automotive FORMULA STUDENT/SAE TEAM at CTU in PRAGUE Engagement of the students since 2008; 2011 gasoline and electric cars Ing. Radek Tichánek, Ph.D.
Research at FME of the CTU in Prague Inevitable tool for supporting the high level of education and for keeping high-quality staff approx. 60% of FME turnover covered by R&D projects, grants and contracts. Long term projects supporting the national collaboration of research bodies and overcoming the insufficient capacity of experimental research before Help by Structural Funds of EU (many Operational Programmes but mostly out of Prague), Framework Programme 7 and bilateral schemes. Start of Public Private Partnership successful for FME because of traditional combining grants&contracts. Evaluation and rating of publicly funded R&D according to outcomes (English version of ).
Research at FME of the CTU in Prague Strong domains: Power engineering: biomass and alternative fuels, energy efficient buildings (HVAC, integrated control). Machine tool design: new concepts of high productive machine tools, new kinematic concepts with high stiffness and low mass, use of mechatronics. Bimechanics: joint implantation, bone substitutes design/shaping, vein substitutes&haemodynamics. Materials engineering: nanotechnologies applied to surface treatment. Automotive engineering: powertrains, vehicle integrated control&electronics, integrated safety. Example: Josef Božek Research Center for Engine and Automotive Technologies
Josef Božek Research Centre Overview - Mission Josef Božek Research Centre of Engine and Automotive Technology provides research and development spark ignition engines (gasoline, gas, alternative fuels) diesel engines (including heavy fuels) in the fields of thermodynamics, aerodynamics, turbocharging and turbochargers, emissions, engine management (mechatronics, predictive control), reciprocating engine dynamics and design. It supplies the results of vehicle transmissions design and optimization (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical powertrains, hybrids), vehicle suspension design (including active mechatronic elements and their control) and body aerodynamics. For additional information (English version).
Josef Božek Research Centre Overview - Organisation and European Projects Josef Božek Research Centre of Engine and Automotive Technology is a part of the Czech Technical University in Prague (CVUT).
