Tammey Fey I am a 2003 graduate of North Schuylkill. I attended Shippensburg University majoring in elementary education and a minor in reading; I graduated in Tell us about your educational experience. I began working at North Schuylkill in 2007 as a permanent day-to-day substitute. The following year I was hired as the first grade teacher at Ringtown Elementary. Since the fall of 2009, I have been a fourth grade teacher. Wow! I can t believe I have been teaching for eight years. My favorite thing about teaching is having the opportunity to meet so many fantastic students. Each and every one of them brings so much personality, creativity, kindness, and a zest for life to the classroom. I find this to be one of the most rewarding professions, and couldn t imagine myself doing anything else. What are your hobbies and interests? My favorite thing to do is spend time with my husband, daughter, family and friends. My interests and hobbies include: mountain biking, attending various sporting events, swimming, reading, traveling, shopping and cooking for large gatherings with family and friends.
Karly Hine I graduated from Blue Mountain HS. I attended Kutztown University where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Math. Afterwards, I got certified to teach both middle-level and secondary mathematics. Additionally, I earned a Master s Degree in Urban Education and certification in Special Education N-12 from Alvernia University. Tell us about your educational experience. I started teaching as a day-to-day and long-term substitute for schools in Schuylkill and Berks counties. My long-term substitute positions were teaching fifth grade multiple subject areas and seventh grade math. I took a maternity leave for my son before getting a full-time position as a TSS worker for students with special needs and later as a middle school PSSA math teacher in the Allentown School District. I was hired by North Schuylkill in 2009 as a high school Emotional Support teacher, co-teaching Math and Science classes, too. I remained there for two years before I took a maternity leave for my daughter. Upon returning, I found my current home for the past three school years as the Life Skills teacher in the elementary. With this position in particular, I enjoy establishing and growing a continued relationship with my students and their families as they go all through elementary school, having some students for multiple years. Also, my classroom is unique; I get to work with multiple grade levels and support staff, teach students on an individual level, and address daily skills that last a lifetime. Overall, I love to see the wonder, curiosity, and eagerness for knowledge in my students eyes and that AHA moment
when they make a true learning connection. I extremely enjoy learning about their interests and goals for their lives; I really do miss them over school breaks! What are your hobbies and interests? Music is a really big part of my life; you will always find me singing, dancing, or following a band! Working out, photography, and baking are other passions of mine. My two children keep me very busy outside of school. We are all social bugs and get out to meet people doing various indoor and outdoor activities whenever possible. Our favorite things to do are playing at the local parks, indoor trampoline park or bounce place, swimming, walking, picnicking, and throwing rocks in the local river. We always keep our feet moving, body dancing, mouths smiling, and hearts open to new people, places, and experiences Life is too short to be bland and closed-minded!
Sarah Woodring I graduated high school from Southern Columbia Area School District in After high school I attended Clarion University of Pennsylvania where I got my Bachelors of Science in Elementary and Special Education. I have recently completed my Masters of Science degree in Reading along with receiving my Reading Specialist certification. Tell us about your educational experience. I was hired by North Schuylkill School District in the fall of 2009 as the 7 th -9 th grade Emotional Support Teacher. After one year I moved to the elementary school to teach in the supplemental learning support classroom. I held this position for three years until I moved to kindergarten. I am now in my second year of teaching kindergarten. Being a kindergarten teacher gives me a unique perspective to see how much students grow throughout the year. I love seeing the progress that the students make from when they join us in the fall to when they leave us as first graders in the spring. What are your hobbies and interests? My favorite hobbies include reading, hiking and spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy traveling and exploring new places, whether it is down the street or across an ocean!
Kim Kaufman I am a graduate of St. Clair Area High School. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the Pennsylvania State University. Then, I continued my education at Kutztown University where I received a Master s Degree in reading and a reading specialist certificate. Tell us about your educational experience. My teaching experience began at my home in St. Clair when I was approximately ten years old. I taught my stuffed animals using my big, moveable chalkboard which Santa Claus delivered to me on Christmas Eve. Of course, I used my Dr. Seuss books as my textbooks! I continued to home school my students for many years until I was hired as a substitute teacher at the St. Clair Area School District where I taught fourth grade. When that teaching job had ended, I taught as a substitute teacher in various school districts in Schuylkill County. During the next ten years, I was hired for many sick, maternity, and sabbatical leaves. I taught all grades from kindergarten through sixth grade during that time period. In the evenings and in the summers for two years, I commuted to Kutztown University to work on my Master s Degree. After the completion of my courses, I graduated in the month of May and then the door to North Schuylkill opened in my teaching career. I applied for a reading specialist position. Fortunately, I was hired to teach Title 1 remedial reading the next school year. As the saying goes, The best things in life are worth waiting for. I taught in the Ashland, Frackville, and Ringtown elementary schools. Now I am here at North Schuylkill Elementary teaching Title1 remedial reading to kindergarten through fourth grade. It has been a great ride, and the ride continues!!
My passion in life has always been teaching and making a difference in the lives of children. I truly enjoy teaching my students and being a part of the great SPARTAN NATION. I receive a reward everyday whether it may be a simple smile from a child or having a child feel the success of sounding out a word which he or she has been working on for a week. Everyday is special. Everyday is a gift. What are your hobbies and interests? My favorite moments are spent with my husband and family. My godson and my four grandchildren are my special treasures. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday as it gives me time to reflect on the many blessings that have been given to me in this journey called, life. I enjoy being outside doing anything under the blue sky and sunshine. Gardening my vegetables and flowers, reading romance novels, and sitting all day on my beach chair at Nags Head, North Carolina, with my family, for a week are my favorite pleasures. I enjoy cooking and exploring new recipes for my International Dinner Group as well as holiday meals at my home. I am a HUGE fan of Dancing with the Stars, the Penn State Nittany Lions, the Philadelphia Phillies, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the United States of America!!
Jennifer Gatley I graduated from Pottsville Area High School in In 2006 I graduated from Kutztown University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Education with dual certification in Elementary Education and Special Education. Tell us about your teaching experience. I began my teaching career in 2006 in Ashland Elementary as an emotional support teacher. I remained the emotional support teacher for 6 years. In 2012, I began teaching itinerant learning support at NSE and NS Jr. /Sr. High School. I am currently in my third year in this position. As a special education teacher, I often have the opportunity to work with the same students year after year, which allows me to see them grow both academically and socially. What are your hobbies/interests? I enjoy listening to music and going to concerts.
Angela Reinoehl I am a 1985 graduate of North Schuylkill School District and a 1989 graduate of Bloomsburg University with a BS in elementary education. Teaching experience: I started my teaching career as a substitute teacher in the Shenandoah Valley and North Schuylkill School Districts in the fall of I then got hired as a fourth grade teacher at Holy Spirit School in Mount Carmel, where I spent one year. I then spent 14 years teaching at All Saints School in Pottsville where I taught grades 2, 4, 5, and 6. I got hired at North Schuylkill in 2004 as a second grade teacher. I have since taught third, kindergarten and most currently fourth grades in our district. By far, the best thing about teaching is spending my day with my students and helping them learn and become their best. The day is always exciting and different. I, myself, learn something new all the time and enjoy sharing my experience and knowledge with my class. What are your hobbies/interests? I am always active and love to find challenging workouts to keep me motivated. I run with my coworkers and friends, Mrs. Nestor, Mrs. Potts, and Miss Hughes after school and walk my two dogs, Nacho and Tucker daily with my friend, neighbor, and coworker, Mrs. Laudeman. I earned two Master's degrees in Communication Studies and Early Childhood Education, both from Bloomsburg University. My favorite thing about working with students is getting to know them personally. I especially like working one-on-one with a student. What are your hobbies / interests? I live with my husband, Andy, and my daughter, Dominique, in Bloomsburg. I am an avid reader (love my Kindle). I love to listen to music - especially rhythm 'n blues and classical.
