Schedule depends on clerkship rotation and site needs. Monday through Friday, generally 8 am - 5pm (site specific) Outpatient Services: One half day per week, when available, (day and time site specific) Textbook/Course Materials Experiential Program Manual for PHAR4683, General Manual for Experiential Programs, Prerequisites or Concurrent Enrollment P-4 standing as per Student Credentialing Committee Catalog Description Pharmaceutical care experiences with adult inpatient medicine patients.
4 Course Mission The mission of this clerkship is the development of the candidate s knowledge & competence with providing clinical pharmacy services to cardiology ICU & telemetry floor patients. Candidate Ability Requirements (Formerly Tech's Top Ten) Candidate Ability Requirements Refer to the abilities required for P4 students available through this hyperlink. The candidate should already have achieved the requirements for Level 0, 1, 2, & 3 reflected on the Candidate Ability Requirements. Course Objectives As stated above Competencies Refer to the content provided in the Candidate Ability Requirements for P4 students Teaching Methods This experiential course will be delivered in practice settings where students will provide clinical services under the supervision of pharmacy practice faculty / preceptors. Students will manage a set of patients pharmacotherapy, deliver case presentations, answer drug information requests from the team and complete a set of projects to increase their knowledge of this area. Assessment Methods Grading will be based on overall performance, professional performance and assignments. Students will complete a minimum of 3 graded assignments during the Cardiology Clerkship Rotation: Literature Interpretation / Evaluation: Student will be assigned a journal club presentation or written drug information question Educational In-service for pharmacy, nursing, or medical staff Patient care or quality improvement project to be assigned by preceptor. Examples include but are not limited to the following: a clinical case presentation of an interesting patient seeing during the rotation and review of pertinent drug therapy clinical trials, cardiology medication use evaluation, cardiology drug monograph for formulary evaluation, or other assigned activity. Grading This course is graded on a point scale, with a minimum score of 70 out of 100 points required to pass. The grading criteria are as follows:
5 Professional Performance 60% Assignments #1 Journal Club or Written DI Question 10% #2 In-service 5% #3 Patient Care or Quality Improvement 15% Project 0% #4 Clinical Intervention Documentation/Report TSBP Intern-Clerkship Evaluation Form 10% Total 100% Attendance is MANDATORY at ALL Discussions Sections NO CREDIT GIVEN FOR ASSIGNMENTS TURNED IN AFTER THE DUE DATE. All students are held responsible for reading, understanding and complying with all policies and procedures presented in the General Information for Experiential Programs.
