1 Application Instructions It is recommended that applicants draft and save a copy of their response to the three Key Selection Criteria using Microsoft Word. 2 Overview The Building Resilience in School Communities Grants Program will support Victorian government schools to build the resilience and wellbeing of their students through professional capacity building. The Program will support school staff to undertake whole school approaches to enhance students resilience, optimism, confidence, and social and emotional skills. Children and young people with higher resiliency are more likely to thrive in learning and achieve greater educational outcomes. Victorian government schools are invited to apply to participate in the Building Resilience in School Communities Grants Program. As limited funding is available for the Program, a selection process will be undertaken to identify participating schools. The Building Resilience in School Communities Grants Program will support Victorian government schools to build the resilience and wellbeing of their students through professional capacity building, in line with the Building Resilience model. The Program will build school and teacher capacity to undertake whole school approaches to enhance students resilience, optimism, confidence, and social and emotional skills. Children and young people with higher resiliency are more likely to thrive in learning and achieve greater educational outcomes. 80 Victorian government schools will be awarded a grant package to the value of $5,500 to: Survey students to determine their resilience and wellbeing Apply the findings of the survey to identify and use whole school approaches and targeted interventions to build student resilience and wellbeing Participate in professional learning to build teacher capacity to improve student resilience and wellbeing. Schools will be supported to draw on the Building Resilience model through the Program. The program will be implemented in schools from July 2015 June 2016.

8 Key Selection Criteria The information you provide in response to the Key Selection Criteria below will be used to assess your application. 17. Please demonstrate how your school is committed to and has the capacity to undertake whole school approaches to encourage the resilience and wellbeing of students and staff, demonstrating the way in which all members of the school community have a key role to play in promoting a supportive school culture, in line with the Building Resilience model at: (max 200 words) 18. Please provide an overview of the group(s) of students to be included in the resilience survey, including supporting reasons and any identified needs of the student group(s). This can include, for example, students at risk of disengagement, students displaying anti social behaviours (including criminal behaviour or risk of radicalisation), students identified as at risk of developing mental health problems, or exposed to family violence.
