It was built in the 13 th century on a Roman wall and was reshaped to its present form in the 17 th century. It had served as a fire watchtower of the city for centuries.

3 CONFERENCE INFORMATION Welcome Welcome to our first regional combustion conference ACH2008! We are pleased to announce that there are 71 registered participants at the meeting coming from Austria, Croatia and, and also from England, France, Germany and Poland. Professor Iskender Gökalp from France is going to give the keynote lecture which will be followed by representative shorter oral presentations from Austria, Croatia and. In the afternoon poster session 43 posters will be presented covering a very wide, truly interdisciplinary range of combustion science and technology. Venue Both the oral and poster sessions will be held in the Linum conference room of Hotel Fagus. The conference room is equipped with a video projector for computer-based presentation. The authors are requested to drop off their posters prior to the beginning of the meeting (10 a.m.) and remove them before 5 p.m. On arrival, the attendees will receive a name badge and the Conference Booklet. The Registration Desk keeps open between 8:00 and 12:00 on the day of the meeting. There is no conference fee. Meal Coffee/tea breaks will be taken in the lecturing room. Buffet-lunch, with a nice variety of hot and cold dishes, will be served in the Borago restaurant of the hotel. After lunch, you may wish to have a sip of the quality Sopron wine Kékfrankos at the site of the poster session. Travel We presume that the delegates arrive by car. Take road No. 84 and locate the round-about junction at the south border of Sopron (see also the maps in the Booklet). Leave the roundabout at the second exit and drive on along Győri út until the second round-about which is to leave at the 3rd exit. Drive on Kőszegi út and than turn to the right to enter Egeredi utca. Street Egeredi joins Lővérek körút. After about 50 m drive, turn to the left to Városi utca and to the left again to find Hotel Fagus at Ojtozi fasor 3. The hotel has its own guarded parking lot.
