11 Key requirements for Datacenter Design Location Land Ability to expand DC space vertically up to 3 floors Building with international standards in mind Connectivity Multiple exchange points crucial for customers in terms of minimizing disruption, and offering redundancy Existence of multiple exchange points for international connectivity Power Currently multiple substations available, and additional growth incorporated in the design required for future expansion

12 Tier 3 Datacenter Other Requirements A dedicated Multi-story Tier 3+ Datacenter facility in Kuwait. Facility will compose of multiple active power and cooling distribution paths. The Power, UPS, A/C, Network and Storage with redundant components and infrastructure. Data center will be concurrently maintainable, providing 99.98% availability. Power The facility should be equipped with sufficient power feed per square foot that will host high density standard equipment Extension Datacenter will be provisioned with redundant power grids with provisions for 16 Amps and 32 Amps single phase and three phase sockets Generators To protect the Datacenter from Power outages the Datacenter will be protected with 2 generators with capacity to support active/real time fuel load options. The generators will have the required capacity to support the Datacenter in full-load. UPS Datacenter will be provisioned with redundant multiple UPS s to provide uninterruptable power to support the equipment deployed for 15 mins. Redundant UPS Capacity to support DC operations. Fire Prevention System Datacenter will be deployed with fire detection and suppression system All walls and exit doors will be fireproof DC to be certified by Fire Department Datacenter Walls External (Walls exposing to the Natural Environment) will be with Bricks or Stone with insulation internally for protection from external environmental conditions. Internal walls (Walls not exposed to the Natural Environment) will be consisting of double glass panels vacuumed inbetween to protect internal Datacenter cold-air from leaking Constructed walls will be insulated to protect Datacenter temperature from external environment Flooring Datacenter Floor will be built with a raised floor with industry standard height with tiles for full floor and support for sufficient floor loading. Raised floor will provide cooling facilities to allow the air to circulate, if this is the cooling approach. The Datacenter will cater for partitioned facilities, to Host Standard Equipment and High Density Equipment Space The Area built will have provisions for Caged /private suite facilities. Staffing Certified and skilled resources 24x7x365 Operations Monitoring tools and capabilities Air Conditioning Datacenter will be provisioned with redundant A/C to provide cooling for the Datacenter Equipment. Datacenter temperature will be maintained between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius The datacenter design will be based on the Hot/Cold Aisle approach, or other best practice. Racks are aligned front to front and cold air is delivered using the raised floor as a cold air handling space (plenum). Sufficient ceiling height needs to be accommodated to allow for cabling over the top for proper air circulation. Monitoring Datacenter Facility will be equipped with CCTV systems to monitor the Datacenter for external access CCTV feeds will be IP-based and recorded outside the datacenter Security/Access Control Datacenter Access will be with biometric access system to protect unauthorized access to the datacenter Automated log-entry will be stored in a central location, and access permission will be granted based on the policies applied.

A significant need to reduce operational cost and capital expenditure in the data center and opex budgets with challenging shortage of suitably skilled staff IT Department are investing in cloud architectures, but still a long way to go.
