1 2011/12 continuing professional development programme for neuro-rehabilitation
2 Life Rehabilitation continues to grow its network of dedicated rehabilitation units and services. We operate just over 50% of all the private rehabilitation beds in South Africa. Our name is synonymous with quality, cost-effective, outcomes-driven acute rehabilitation services for adults disabled by stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury and other disabling conditions. The introduction of the two dedicated paediatric units in the last two years expanded our services to children younger than 12 years of age. Not only do these units offer quality neuro rehabilitation services to newly disabled children, but they also offer short intensive inpatient programmes for children with chronic cerebral palsy. Annual inpatient review programmes for clients with chronic spinal cord injuries are also being offered at all of our units. The aim of this programme is to prevent and manage long term complications of spinal cord afflictions. Our network of six rehabilitation units provides wide coverage and access to our services. The opening of the 36 bed Life rehabilitation unit adjacent to the Life Vincent Pallotti in Cape Town, in November 2011 will further increase our capacity and extend our footprint to a fifth province. Life Rehabilitation is still the only group accredited ISO-9001:2008 rehabilitation network in South Africa, evidence that our quality standards meet international criteria. As part of our commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) in the field of rehabilitation in South Africa, we offer a number of educational activities in this specialised field. This year, we continue to focus on specialist skills training workshops, presented by recognised experts in the field. The events are designed to lay a theoretical framework and build practical skills that practitioners can utilise in developing and consolidating their own fields of practice.
3 our commitment to continuing professional development We are committed to offering expert, interdisciplinary rehabilitationrelated CPD courses to our colleagues, in the interest of developing this exciting field of practice. We look forward to your participation in our learning activities for 2011/12. registration procedure Please liaise with the venue s contact person to confirm whether places are available, and to make a booking. Once you have booked your place, you should make payment directly into the bank account, and fax proof of payment to the contact person for the event. Our programme this year comprises one and two day workshops. The workshops generally cost between R250 to R600 per day. details All events are CPD accredited and CPD certificates will be presented to all attendees at the end of each event. The final detailed programme and registration form will be available from the contact person at the venue six weeks prior to each event. All of our CPD activities include refreshments. No places are confirmed until proof of payment has been received. We are regrettably unable to accept payment at the event. Registration will be confirmed once registration details and proof of payment has been received. Participants are encouraged to register early as places are limited. Bookings close two weeks prior to the event or earlier, if capacity has been reached. bank details Bank: First National Bank Account name: Life Healthcare Limited Branch code: or (electronic transfers) Account number: Reference: Please check registration form for exact details as each CPD has an unique reference number.
