Gilman International Scholarship Program Sponsored by the US Department of State s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs (ECA) Administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE) s Houston office Mission: Diversify the kinds of students who study and intern abroad and the regions and countries where they go. Impact: The Gilman Scholarship Program has awarded over 20,000 U.S. undergraduates of high financial need to study or intern abroad, who come from more than 1,100 institutions and have studied in more than 140 countries around the world.
5 The Multiplier Effect through Follow-on Service Project All applicants are required to submit Follow-on Service Project Proposal which must be completed if selected to receive the Gilman Scholarship. Gilman Program Multiplier Effect: 20,000 Gilman alumni x30 individuals influenced = 600,000 exposed to the opportunities of study/intern abroad and the Gilman Scholarship
