1 ICF COACH S EDUCATION PROGRAMME INTRODUCING OF THE EDUCATION PROGRAMME 1. The concept The ICF Coaches Education Programme is an integral part of the overall ICF Master Plan for Education and the Development Programme; however the ICF does not intend neither to replace the existing coach s educations in national or international level where canoeing coaching education existing and where those diplomas are required for coaches employment In order to progress of the athlete s level the training of coaches is an essential element in the ICF development policy. A competent coach provides athletes with a high quality of training, which means quality standard aimed by the ICF. For many years, the ICF active in promoting and organizing various coaches courses, seminars and symposiums in national and international level. Also supports all the NOC s applications for the Olympic Solidarity financially supported canoeing courses by expertise and lecturers; however doesn t establish an overall strategy for the coach s education up to now. The introducing ICF Coach s Education structure should be closely related to coaching roles and classification of competence. This concept is match well to the International Council for Coach Education (ICCE) and follows the line of the European Coaching Council as well in similarity with several International Sport Federations that attempts to provide education for coaches. The ICF Couches Education is an inportant part of the ICF Development Programme in targeting those developing national federations where canoeing coach s education system does not exist but also offers opportunities for those educated coaches who are interested in attending in any ICF organized or supported courses. Three main streams of coach education are recognized; Vocational (mainly national federation), Federation (ICF and Cont. Assoc) and University based education. The ICF will present a Diploma for those who attended in any level of the ICF Coach s course and passed the examination. Those athletes will be registered in the ICF date base. Av.de. 2 2. Aim The aim of the ICF CSP Education Programme is to establish the structure of the different leveled courses and seminars with uniform programme in various places and languages. Determinate the subjects of those courses and provide the lecturers with teaching materials. The aim of the ICF Coach s education programme is developing the coaches standard hence the athletes level by organizing well defined courses on different level mainly in those countries where canoeing coach s education not yet established or give opportunities for experienced coaches to develop their knowledge on high level courses. The courses shall deliver exceptional performance outcomes to the participants in Canoe Sprint discipline what they would transfer for the progressing of the athlete s performance. In addition they will receive information on the other ICF s disciplines. 3. Objectives 3.1 The content of the education programme will be standardised and designed as follows: CSP Coaching Courses will be held on Level 1, -2, - 3 and 4 in following the suggested structure of the Europe Coaches Education Council The Level 3 and 4 courses are University based; combination of on-line education and physical participation programme The CSL discipline may follow the same structure described for the CSP in this material The other ICF disciplines may organise courses on one level, which contains all the information to the attendees per course. 3.2 The ICF may establish the so called Elite Expert Group of the Olympic disciplines as the consulting persons for technical matters. 3.3 The introduced education programme has been designed for the Canoe Sprint discipline but includes basic knowledge on the other ICF canoeing disciplines. Description of the CSP Courses 4.1 ICF CSP LEVEL 1 ASSISTANT COACH S COURSE May be financially supported by the Olympic Solidarity These courses can be organised and hosted by any National Federation. Participants can represent the organising federation and the invited other national federations The language: national language The duration is 7-10 days The lecturer will be appointed or approved by the ICF The content and the teaching materials of the courses will be uniform, prepared by the ICF Examination of the courses will be held in the form and way what determinates by the ICF The participants who passed the examinations will receive the ICF Diploma of the CSP Level 1 Assistant Coach Euros fee per person shall be paid for the registration to the course included Diploma. 4.2 ICF CSP LEVEL 2 ADVENCED COACH S COURSE May be financially supported by the Olympic Solidarity Courses may be organised for the two Olympic disciplines with additional information of the related disciplines, as the table indicates bellow: A Canoe Sprint Canoe Marathon Dragon Boat B Canoe Slalom Wildwater Canoeing Canoe Freestyle These courses could be organised by the ICF H.Q., ICF Technical Committees or by the Continental Associations The language of the courses can be: English, Spanish, France and Russian depends on the organisation decision Av.de. 4 4.2.4 The duration of the courses are usually 10 days The ICF H.Q., the Canoe Sprint or Canoe Slalom Committee and the Continental Association are responsible for the organisation of these courses The programme of Level 2 courses will be harmonised with contents of the Level 1 courses in providing the logical build up and clear border between the different levels The contents and the teaching materials of the courses will be uniform, prepared by the ICF and/or Technical Committee The lecturer(s) will be appointed or approved by the ICF Examination of the courses will be held in the form and way what determinates by the ICF The participants who passed the examinations will receive the ICF Diploma of the CSP or CSL Level 2 Advanced Coach Euros fee per person shall be paid for the registration to the course included Diploma 4.3 LEVEL 3 EXPERT COACH INTERNATIONAL COURSES (Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary) These courses will be organised by the Semmelweis University Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences Budapest yearly from (This University course has been approved by the Olympic Solidarity as their partner for coaches education. Therefore the participation may financially support by the O.S.) The theoretical and practice parts of the courses will be held for Canoe Sprint with additional information for other canoeing disciplines. CANOE SPRINT CANOE SLALOM CANOE MARATHON DRAGON BOAT CANOE POLO The official language: English The annually courses consist of 3 months of on-line education programme, 4 weeks practical course in Budapest and the examination. 5 4.3.5 The ICF establishes an Agreement of Cooperation with the Semmelweis University for the proper organisation of the level 3 and Level 4 courses The lecturers for the theoretical parts will be selected by the University while the practical parts will be delivered by the ICF and HUN NF approved lecturers The education programme will be harmonised with the contents and structure of the Level 1 and Level 2 courses The participants who passed the examinations will receive the Diploma of the Level 3 Expert Coach for canoeing. It will be given by the Semmelweis University with the signature of the ICF and the Olympic Solidarity The participation fee of the courses will be determinate by the University with the ICF. 4.4 LEVEL 4 INTERNATIONAL COURSES (Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary) These courses will be organised by the Semmelweis University Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences upon interest The course will be a master course for high levelled coaches.
