Developed in partnership with leading healthcare facilities in New Zealand, the USA and Asia, Eclair is a leading-edge electronic patient record system with its own central data repository and advanced interfaces. It securely communicates with external information systems, to ensure each and every relevant patient report or event is kept patient-centrically in the repository, building the most complete patient record possible. Eclair has an essential role in the patient journey. It is very helpful to be able to view a graph of the patient case results. It provides a picture of how a disease is responding to treatment and is useful to share with patients. Dr David Simpson, Waitemata DHB What s inside Eclair? 1. Laboratory and pathology results It s a widely-reported fact that laboratory results contribute to 70% of the diagnosis in clinical decision making. Eclair s ability to display laboratory results and related data and images from different public and private pathology providers is outstanding. Enhanced by trend tracking, graphing and advanced cumulative result presentation with results status indicators, the data is displayed and organised in a clear, logical manner for rapid result interpretation. 2. Clinical documents and discharge summaries Clinical documents and discharge summary information in all common formats (PDF, MS Word, MS Excel and RTF) are securely stored and viewed in Eclair. 3. Radiology reports Eclair receives and presents all radiology reports, including CT scans, MRIs, x-rays and ultrasounds. Text reports include links to the diagnostic images, which are stored in a separate imaging system, i.e. a PACS database. 5 5 4. Dispensed medications Sysmex are committed to finding solutions to improved medication safety. Adding medication data to the clinical information system is a key step. When a patient receives a prescription and has it filled at a pharmacy, the medications are given to the patient and a dispensing message is sent from the pharmacy system to Eclair. Eclair displays a summary of all dispensed medication in an easy-to-view table. Details include date dispensed, generic and brand names, strength, form, quantity and any instructions, full pharmacy name and prescriber details. 5. Current order requests Eclair s orders module allows clinical staff to create and send electronic orders for radiology, laboratory and transfusion medicine services. The status of each scheduled collection or procedure and order request in progress is listed for easy review on the patient record. Clinicians can get an immediate picture of work that s already underway, which prevents unnecessary re-requests. 6. Patient admission status Eclair interfaces to the hospital information system (HIS) and receives all related information feeds, so that it can display key pieces of relevant information. Patient admission information includes location, bed number, care providers, and admission date and time. 7. Easy, traceable electronic sign off Eclair lists reports assigned to the clinician for review and electronic sign-off. All actions are recorded by Eclair for full treaceability of patient report access and responsibility. Completing the electronic loop successfully is not just about sending electronic HL7 orders. To truly add value and realise the benefits of e-orders, Eclair offers a total solution. One view saves time Eclair is unique because both the order and result are stored in the repository. When clinicians order tests, they can see if there are results available or orders processing from the Order form. There is no need to leave the order workflow and look up the patient results. There are also embedded rules in the Order form, so the tests to be requested are highlighted if they fall within minimum re-order interval alerts assisting with demand management. When prescribing blood products, Eclair extracts relevant results from the patient record e.g. haemoglobin, to assist in determining the clinical necessity of the request. The clinician can also view a list of all blood products currently requested on their patient and the status of the progress in filling these orders. Easy customisation Eclair order forms can be customised to include order sets. Clinicians appreciate the added ability to customise their favourite order forms. 10 Eclair Clinical Forms Use our templates or build your own clinical forms. Eclair includes an application that lets you build customised clinical forms, or you can use standardised forms that have been designed in collaboration with clinicians. Standardised forms We provide the option to use Standardised Forms/Templates, for example electronic growth charts. Growth charts are based on the standardised algorithms from the World Health Organisation (WHO). Clinical teams use this tool to capture patient growth data - height, weight, head circumference - and compare it against recognised standards on a chart. A platform for innovation Our customers have used the capability of Eclair Clinical Forms to benefit their clinical workflow. Data is entered and decision support calculations are applied before the forms are uploaded to the clinical record, where they can be accessed and amended anytime. The advantage of our library over other reference tools is its one-click linking from the point-of query. When viewing reports or requesting tests, a clinician can seamlessly access the right reference information without searching. 14 Eclair Security Complete patient confidentiality and data security. Patient confidentiality and data security are as important to us as they are to healthcare facilities. We ve approached this challenge at multiple levels, which are summarised here: Secure Communications Authentication Access Control, Audit trails and confidentiality Data Security Eclair uses Secure Socket Layering (SSL), working seamlessly between the site and a visitor s web browser. SSL security protocols provide data encryption, message integrity and optional client authentications. 128 Bit encryption prevents users from eavesdropping or tampering with Eclair data. All Eclair users require a unique user code and password. Minimum password length and alphanumeric combination. Logon attempts can be monitored and workstations disabled by the Administrator. Automatic password expiry after a specified time frame (according to relevant business rules). Account/Workstation lockout available for additional security. Eclair can be integrated with third party applications to enhance security and provide single sign-on solutions. All actions are logged, creating a full audit trail of every transaction and who has viewed or acted on a patient report Access can be restricted to sections of the CDR Access can be allocated per staff group(s) or individual user Privileges can be granted or revoked to control access to module functionality. There are two methods for making observation reports confidential in Eclair: a) Patients can request their reports be kept confidential. These reports can be completely confidential, visible to no one through Eclair; b) Rules can be set up in Eclair to make specific observation result types to be confidential. Such reports will only be available to specified users. Eclair Touch No patient information is stored on the device except a temporary cache. User access is authenticated in the same way as it is to the core Eclair web system. A full audit trail of all access and actions is also recorded. Eclair utilises full security features within IIS, Windows and SQL Server/Oracle Systems. Eclair is compliant with all HISO [10008] pathology and radiology HL7 standards. Eclair readily supports ORU, OML, ORM and ADT message types. All users of Eclair require a workstation with Internet Explorer 7.0 or above. Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome also supported.
