Students explore economic, social, and political themes related to urban planning and development in the context of a democratic and capitalist society. Fall Urban Growth Management This course provides an overview of the key concepts and tools related to smart growth, with an emphasis on the historic evolution of state and local growth management policies, especially Florida s. Spring 2014; Spring Urban and Metropolitan Economic Development Strategies This course introduces students to theory, contemporary practices, and case studies in urban economic development. Fall 2013; Fall Food Systems Planning This course provides an introduction to the food system and how it relates to planning and public policy.
