As a general rule, each course covers 36 contact hours over the semester. Group work, term paper preparation and independent study are important elements in all courses. Thesis Each specialisation includes a thesis, which is a major exercise in information research and analysis. The thesis process starts during the first year of the programme with a research methodology course. You will work on your thesis in teams of two students or independently. Under the guidance of an academic supervisor you will then work on an in-depth investigation of your chosen topic during the second year of the programme. Learning environment in the Master programme you will encounter a combination of teaching methods which involve a high level of student activity and regular feedback. You have the opportunity to specialise in many business related areas and to tailor your Master to your qualifications and aspirations. The Major transcends traditional subject specialisations and draws on strategy, organisation, marketing, finance and economics to provide a broad range of theoretical perspectives, models and methods for managing the complex-ity of international business. The Major entails compulsory exchange in the third semester, in order to integrate theory and experience of living and studying abroad. choose a Minor or free Electives at Bi or abroad You may choose a Minor, consisting of 3-4 courses from another academic field than your Major. A Minor gives a good understanding of another academic field, but not in the same depth as in your Major. Minor choices are all eight Majors plus two extra: Eight Majors innovation and Entrepreneurship internship (8 week job placement plus two courses) instead of choosing a Minor, you may choose 3-4 courses from different areas as free Electives and achieve a broader academic background. You may also choose to go on exchange in the third semester and take your Minor or free Electives abroad at a partner school. You may choose to apply for the Double Degree option, stay abroad for the whole second year and receive a MSc Degree Diploma from both schools. All options for the second year are decided during the first year. 7 international opportunities All of Bi s MSc programmes offer at least one possibility to experience studying abroad. Exchange Bi Master students have an excellent opportunity to further expand their international horizon. They may apply to spend one semester abroad at one of Bi's over 160 international exchange partners in 43 countries. Bi offers a shortlist of partners tailored for each MSc programme. Visit international mentor programme The international mentor programme was launched in the Autumn of 2006 and is conducted over a year. it consists of approximately 20 Master students who are partnered with a mentor, based on personality, background, programme and interest. Mentors who participate in this programme have long leadership experience within an international environment. Visit Double degrees Students spend the first year at Bi and the second year at the host university. Students will receive two Master degrees, one from Bi and one from the host institution. They cover the full tuition fees for two years. Additional living costs scholarships are available for international students. Scholarships for international students: The Bi Master of Science scholarships: cover partial or full tuition fees for the first year. The norwegian State Educational Loan fund scholarships for students from Bi partner institutions in select developing countries cover living costs for both years (10 months per year) and most of the tuition fees. Grade point average (GPA) should be at least B (EcTS scale). A satisfactory score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) (600) and on the ToEfL (575) or ielts language test (6.5).
