1 OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY & HEALTH, DISABILITY MANAGEMENT/ RETURN TO WORK SERVICE PROVIDER LISTINGS Produced by the Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba and the Workplace Safety and Health Division of Manitoba Labour and Immigration September 2009 Updates available at and
2 Occupational Safety & health, Disability Management/Return to Work Service Provider Listings The development of sound health and safety programs in the workplace leads to fewer injuries, fewer claims to the Workers Compensation Board and lower costs for everyone. This Service/Service Provider Listing has been prepared by the Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba and the Workplace Safety and Health Division of the Department of Labour and Immigration to encourage employers and workers to improve safety in their workplaces. It does this by providing a guide to various organizations that offer workplace health and safety resources and/or services. The listing provides assistance on where to go for help when dealing with various workplace safety issues such as training, hazardous chemicals, WHMIS, etc. Any workplace, regardless of size, can manage injuries in the workplace more effectively using some basic principles. In its simplest term, return to work is developing a way to meet the needs of ill or injured workers in order to bring them back to health and work. The result? The development of a sound return to work program can lead to a reduction in lost work time, maintaining productivity, a reduction in the time between the onset and the worker s safe return to work and a reduction in the cost of disability including WCB assessments. The listing is divided into two sections as follows: lists various safety & health and disability & return to work problems together with those organizations (government, non-profit and private-sector companies and consultants) which may be able to offer some assistance with a particular issue. In most cases the organizations are based in Winnipeg but are willing to provide services outside Winnipeg. Some have offices outside Winnipeg as well, and others are based in other communities. A number of organizations referenced in charge on a fee for service basis. Generally, organizations that charge fees for service do not do so for information in advance, providing that long consultations or on-site visits are not involved. -2-
3 Section 2 provides information that will assist you to make contact with the various organization listed in the first two sections. The information provided, while as comprehensive as possible, is not necessarily a complete list of all the various organizations providing some health and safety assistance. To be included on this list, please contact the SAFE Work Services Department of the Workers Compensation Board at Note: Persons and companies are included in this listing on a voluntary basis. The Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba does not approve, endorse or accept responsibility for the use of any products or services offered for sale by the listed suppliers. The listing is intended for information use only. -3-
