6 Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) 5 Days This is one of the most highly regarded courses in the construction industry, helping Site Managers to develop a better understanding of the legal, moral and social responsibilities of their role, and to manage health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions. REFRESHER Courses: 2-day SMSTS Refresher Course every 5 years 6
7 Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) 2 Days This course is recommended for first line managers or those who have, or are about to, acquire supervisory responsibilities. It provides an introduction to health and safety, welfare and environmental issues for those needing to understand their legal responsibilities within their work activities. It will provide a sound knowledge base to enable them to give valuable assistance in safely managing a construction site. REFRESHER Courses: 1 day SSSTS Refresher Course every 5 years. 7
8 This one-day course is for those who have entered, or are about to enter, the construction and civil engineering industry. The course gives delegates an awareness of health and safety and how it affects their daily role. It can be used as preparation training for the CITB health, safety and environment test or as refresher training. This course is the first step towards a CSCS Labourer s Card (Green Card) and is an accepted training standard for operatives working on UKCG member sites. HEALTH AND SAFETY AWARENESS 1 Day 8
9 UKATA ASBESTOS AWARENESS 0.5 Days This half day course is suitable for anyone who undertakes building, maintenance, installation and other work in buildings that could contain asbestos. Course programme: The course covers: 1. Asbestos hazards and risks 2. Where asbestos materials can be found 3. Legislation and guidance 4. Everyone s role in reducing risks 5. Procedures for dealing with unexpected situations 6. Asbestos risk management Associated CourseS: Managing Asbestos 9
10 PASMA Tower for Users 1 Day This course is designed for Managers, Supervisors and Operatives who may need to construct and/or inspect mobile aluminium towers. Aims of the training: The aim of the course is to provide individuals with a thorough understanding of the need for safety associated with towers, in addition to instructing and equipping delegates in the skills required for safe use and inspection. Related Courses: PASMA for Managers PASMA tower for users and low level combined PASMA low level PASMA work at heights PASMA advanced guardrail 10 This course is designed for any person who may be required to use an abrasive or diamond wheel in the workplace. Aims of the training: The course aims to provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the hazards associated with the use of abrasive wheels on portable machines. This course will also include a practical session in the safe use of cutting discs on angle grinders and cut off saws.
11 Safe Selection AND Safe Use of Abrasive Wheels on Portable Machines 0.5 Days Qualitative Face Fit Testing ½ Day (up to 12 delegates) This course is designed for those who use respiratory protective equipment (RPE) as part of their work. Aims of the training: By the end of the course the delegate will be able to correctly fit and adjust an item of RPE. Related Courses: Quantitative face fit testing
12 FIRST AID AT WORK (INITIAL) 3 days This course is designed for those who have been appointed as a First Aider in the workplace and meets the requirements of the health and safety (first aid) regulations. Aims of the training: To provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the role and duties of the First Aider in the workplace. Delegates are continuously assessed by the Tutor and will need to successfully complete a written assessment at the end of the course. EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK (APPOINTED PERSON) 1 Day This programme is designed for those whose employment requires management of; a medical situation until help arrives or when an employer s assessment of first aid identifies that a First Aider is not necessary. This course provides the ability to undertake basic life support and emergency procedures in the event of an accident or injury until trained help arrives. Delegates are continuously assessed by the Tutor and will need to successfully complete a written assessment at the end of the course. Related Courses: Annual refresher training 12

14 Cable Avoidance 0.5 Days This course is designed for anyone who has to use a cable avoidance tool to locate services. The course would also be of benefit to any Supervisor or Manager who is responsible for this activity. Aims of the training: The aim of the course is to train selected individuals in the safe use of a Cable Avoidance Tool and Genny, enabling them to safely carry out checks for buried services. Objectives of Cable Avoidance Equipment (CAE) training: Delegates will be able to demonstrate the safe use of the cable avoidance tool, correct use of the Genny and the correct method of locating services. In addition they will be able to demonstrate the correct method to mark out service runs for others to work on accurately. 14
15 TERMS AND CONDITIONS 1. Upon receipt of your booking we will provisionally allocate the delegate s place on the course. 2. Your booking will be confirmed, together with an invoice for the appropriate amount. 3. Payment must be received one month before the course delivery date to secure places. 4. Following confirmation, should you withdraw your delegate(s) from the course we operate the following tiered refund policy: Less than 4 weeks notice from the course no refund; 8 4 weeks notice 50% refund; 12 weeks notice full refund (less administration charge). 5. Courses are offered on a pass or fail basis and there is no refund should the delegate fail to attend all the days of the course or fail to successfully complete either the practical exercise or end of course test paper. Interserve will, wherever possible, deliver the course at the location advertised. However, this may be subject to change. The course venue will be confirmed prior to delivery. 15
