1 Offered in Partnership with Communicating With a Classroom Blog EDCI Instructor: Kathy Korty ([email protected]) Background: It is obvious that students learn best when they see the significant adults in their lives parents, teachers, and community members working together to support them. Effective communication between home and school is vital to ensure that these relationships are able to blossom. It is also important to connect and communicate with our students. A teacher or classroom blog is an awesome tool that easily opens the door of communication to all. Target Audience: K-12 Educators Graduate Credit: 3 credits (50 contact hours) Course objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will: 1. Explore the definition, history and uses of blogs in the educational field. 2. Develop goals for educational use of a blog. 3. Explore an online blog tool to use as a teacher or classroom blog. 4. Design and create an online teacher or classroom blog. Methodology: This course is taught through a distance-learning format, supported through an assortment of readings, videos, assignments, discussions, and assessments. Participants will need to have a computer with Internet access. Course Requirements: The course has four separate modules. Each module must be completed prior to completing the next module. Each module consists of readings and videos, an assessment, a discussion board, and an assignment. Module 1 What is Blogging? Module 2 Exploring the World of Blogging Module 3 Online Tools for Creating an Effective Communication Blog Module 4 Designing a Communication Tool
