6 GLOBAL IMPACT OF CHRONIC DISEASE DEATHS from chronic disease in 2008: CAUSED by: Up to three quarters of people over 75 years of age suffer from a chronic disease It is estimated that the incidence of chronic disease in the over 65s will double by 2030 Approximately 44% of all NCD deaths occur before the age of 70 WHO data show that 75% of the population has one chronic disease...and 50% have two or more conditions Mortality will increase by 17% in next decade and by 25% in Africa and Middle East 6
