To restore the ral or erc, at the main screen of the direct allaince you would select ral and restore bank file. the clients are listed by date and display names. you select the clients to resend to the bank by the mouse click or space bar for each client. after all have been selected then click "create" and all clients chosen will be put in the elecfile.ral file. this will be followed by message " a bank file has been created"..please send to the bank... they can now go to rcb remote and process & build ral & send to the bank 2. How do I repost a RAL/ERC file using Dunphy software? Reposting of a ral file. Do this from the dcn database found as option #3 in the electronic filing menu. press enter until you see the dcns of all your clients. find the file needing reposting and press enter. from the dcn1 screen, press f-3. the screen should ask if you wish to repost the ral file. just answer 'y' and press enter. 3. Instructions for completing Taxware for RCB bank product: The following information was ed to us by TAXWARE. We hope this helps clear up any confusion you are still experiencing. RAL and Real Time Loan Processing Through River City Bank with Taxware Setup: There are a few items that need to be set-up before you process your RAL's and RTL's (real time loan). First access the Main Menu and go into Menu (10) Defaults and settings

2 Below is the menu, Enter the path where the River City Program has been loaded in option number (22) Rivercity Bank Real time loan Directory. This path will probably be C:\REMOTE02\ After you have set this path. Return to the Main Menu and go into the E-File Main Menu by accessing Menu choice (17) In the Menu Below you need to Click on the River City Bank radio button Now you are ready to procede to the tax return. After completing the tax return you will enter the E-file summary menu This menu is accessed from the Diagnostic Summary menu then selecting (20) On the menu below you will select (06) RAL Indicator and Choose between RAL and ERC. Make sure that River City Bank's RTN and Acct. # are entered in the Direct Deposit fields. After choosing between RAL or ERC, you will enter (07) RAL Information Menu This is basically the RAL application menu. Menu shown below: From this menu, you will fill in fees, Phone # etc. After all data is entered, you will hit (26) to print the application. If you are requesting a Real Time Loan, hit (27) after the application is filled out. When you select (27) the program will create an IRS file of the current client, then Load RCB software on top of ours. After you are in RCB Software you will click on the Process menu, then click on the Real time Loan button. You will then be prompted for the SSN of the client to send. After typing in the SSN, The remote software will gather needed information for that return. You will then send data to RCB through RCB software. You will then close RCB Software and return to Taxware Software. Normally at the end of the day you will transmit all returns ready to the IRS. After the returns have been transmitted and accepted. Make sure that you print your acknowledgement files. This is when the program updates the Ral returns. You will enter into the Ral information menu below, by hitting (17) E-file from Main Menu, then (06) Prepare Rals. The returns that have been marked for RAL and have been accepted will show in

3 the white area above. These returns will be processed when you hit (07) Load River City Software. This menu choice does more than just call up the RCB software. It compiles the returns above, into a file that RCB Remote program reads to process the RALs. After RCB software comes up, the rest of the processing will be done in RCB's Remote program. 4. How to print a sample check? ( Must be done before installing the Patch ) Go to configuration; take the check mark out of production mode, then Checksprint checks. 5. Getting error Access Violation using dial-up Go to configuration, communications, click on dial-up connection, change setting to Direct to com # for dialup modem. 6. Pc locks up when trying to print checks! Do not print all the checks at the same time, check Ram ( memory ), or if the hard drive is full. Too many programs running at the same time. Also try closing RCB program & reopen. 7. Attempted to download software from Internet using AOL & the download was not completed. Minimize AOL & open Internet Explorer & then download the RCB software 8. What needs to be done before Un-installing RCB software & re installing. Go to My Computer to C:\Remote02\Data & copy ALL the Auth. Files to a temporary folder ( Do Not create the temporary folder in the Remote02 folder or send Auth. files to the Recycle bin ). Also give us a call to rehang your database. 9. Communications is not available, cannot connect to the bank.

4 a. Preparer has not printed all the checks or just simply close down the RCB software & re-open. b. If checks do not clear out, click on done & o k to send confirmation to bank. 10. There is not any file contents when trying to build Ral/Erc from Ack file. Place a check mark in the box & click on the file name to highlight the file name, then info. Should show on the right side of the screen. 11. When building Ral/Erc file the continue button does not appear. Maximize the screen, buttons are on the bottom of screen. 12. Error message Table 1 error, cannot perform operation on a closed dataset. Close down Rcb software & re-open, or reboot pc. 13. Requirements to run RCB include Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher and an OS of Windows 98 ( second edition ) or higher. 14. If preparer has trouble printing our checks on a laser printer, change print driver to HpLJ III Deskjet printers use the HpDj500 driver.

6 ATX INFORMATION!!! Indirect-Direct Filing for ATX 1. The tax preparer files electronically through ATX who transmits the file to the IRS. 2. ATX receives the acknowledgement file ( ack ) from the IRS. 3. The tax preparer picks up the ACK file from ATX. 4. The tax preparer then uses RCB s Remote software to prepare the RAL/ERC file & sends it to RCB. 5. RCB processes the RAL/ERC file and creates a tax check file for the tax preparer to retrieve via modem. 6. After retrieving the tax check file, the tax preparer may print checks for his/her clients. PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE TRANSMITTING/BUILDING ANY RETURNS THROUGH ATX SOFTWARE. 1) ATX successful Efiling depends on you getting the latest executable file from the ATX website and making sure you have all the latest forms. Most all EFile issues are resolved by having this done. 2) When doing a RCB Bank Product in ATX software, you MUST ACCESS THE RCB APP from within the software to activate the file that RCB must read to be able to process the return as a bank product. This will automatically populate RCB RTN and DAN. 3) A Bank Product must be selected under the EF INFO, Payment and Refund Options screen. The refund type will appear in the Forms manager for each taxpayer under the refund type column. 4) Do not send any test data to River City Bank! 5) River City Bank should be chosen as the bank under the Options, Preferences, 1040 E-file tab. The data path should be filed in with (Drive):\Remote02\atx\ 6) If there is an ELECFILE.RAL in the ATX folder and a preparer is getting incorrect information when trying to build the RAL file within the RCB software, delete the ELECFILE.RAL file go back into ATX software, under the E-filing, Rebuild River City Bank file (with ALL returns that are supposed to be coming over selected) and rebuild those files. This will recreate the ELECFILE.RAL file and process correctly in the RCB software. 7) IF YOU ARE NOT RECEIVING ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS You MUST

7 go to GET ACKS within ATX software, forms manager, E-filing menu option. The process of RECEIVING ACKS will be automated in the next release. Until then, you MUST MANUALLY pick up those ACK files. ATX is currently up to date with the IRS ACKS. An update WITH CORRECTIONS to the last message about ATX... 1) River City Bank should be chosen as the bank under the Options, Preferences, 1040 E-file tab. The data path should be filed in with (Drive):\Remote02\atx\ THE DATA PATH SHOULD READ: (DRIVE):\REMOTE02---LEAVE OFF THE ATX FOLDER. THAT IS DEFAULTED. IF YOU INCLUDE THE \ATX ON THE END, IT WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY. 2) IF YOU ARE NOT RECEIVING ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS You MUST go to GET ACKS within ATX software, forms manager, E-filing menu option. The process of RECEIVING ACKS will be automated in the next release. Until then, you MUST MANUALLY pick up those ACK files. ATX is currently up to date with the IRS ACKS. GET ACKS SHOULD READ UPDATE ACKS 1) ATX has implemented a CROSS-CHECKING procedure to validate that what was sent TO the IRS, is also being obtained FROM the IRS. 2) ATX has also implemented the procedure of checking for ACKs hourly IF SOMEONE HAS TO REBUILD A FILE IN ATX PLEASE BE SURE THAT ANY EXISTING ELECFILE.RALS ARE DELETED OR PROCESSED BEFORE REBUILDING. REBUILDING A FILE WITH AN EXISTING ELECFILE.RAL COULD RESULT IN A "COMBINED" FILE WITH MANY ERRORS!! 8 attached (Bank Products) SYMPTOM : When creating an e-file for a return that includes a Bank Application but does not contain any state forms, the E-file Error Check displays the following message: "E-File Info The Fees for state bank products may not be greater than the refund amount. Deselect the state bank product on the state 'E-file Info' form." SOLUTION: To solve this problem, close the Error Check box, and then click on the Bank <RC/REP> form tab. If you are using River City Bank's Tax Divi$ion (River City Bank Remote ), on page 2 of the Bank RC form, under Estimation of State ERC/RET Net Amount, select (outline) the Less Bank Fee amount column, and then click Restore. Save the return, and then try creating the e-file again. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE LATEST FORM-INCLUDING THE LATEST "STATE SIGNATURE FORM"-FROM THE WEBSITE AND DOWNLOAD THE LATEST PROGRAM UPDATES AND BE SURE TO INSTALL THE NEXT CD WHEN YOU GET IT. ATX software will automatic download Acks when files are transmitted. The two times the ElecFile.RAL will be automatically built are when transmitting and accepted acks are downloaded and when utilizing "Update acknowledgements." You can manually build an ElecFile.Ral file with the "Rebuild RiverCity Bank file" option. All of these options will append an existing file. The ElectFile.Ral file will not be built when utilizing the "Synchronize with ATX". This feature should only to match status and rehang acks. LOAN BACKOUTS NEED THE FOLLOWING: 1. 9 FOR TAX PREPARERS AND EROs WHO USE DRAKE SOFTWARE AND RIVER CITY BANK FOR BANK PRODUCTS RALs, ERCs, etc. Drake software has no support for EROs who use River City Bank for tax bank products. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you use the following procedure which will allow River City Bank to read and process your bank data. In order for River City to get your fee and product information you must do the following: When preparing a tax return in Drake software, go to the main screen for taxpayer information. In the Occupation field, field 26 if the numbers are turned on, enter the primary taxpayer s occupation. Then put a SPACE followed by your total fees (excluding bank fees) followed by the letter for the bank product. C=ERC, R=RAL and T=FEDRET. If the total fees are $50.00 enter If the total fees are $ enter If fee is $9.00 enter Then add the product letter. Examples: Occupation = Plumber, Fee = $75.00, Product = ERC enter Plumber C Occupation= Laborer, Fee= $105.95, Product= RAL enter LABORER R Although you can use multiple names for the occupation, it is best if you use only one name. Here are a few suggestions for shortening multiple name occupations. Use single name or combine both names without a space. Truck Driver enter Trucker or Driver Administrative Assistant enter Administration or AdminAsst Insurance Agent enter Insurance or Agent Civil Engineer enter Engineer Tax Preparer..enter TaxPreparer If you follow these procedures you will be able to process Real Time loans. In addition, when preparing the RAL file in the River City software for regular RALs and ERCs, the fee and product screen that appears will already have most of the fee and product information inserted. You only then have to edit or add anything that is missing or needs to be changed. This will save you time. Refer to the Readme.doc and AppManual.doc files that are on the original AAA Application Program CD for more detailed information.

10 GLOSSARY ACH FILE AUTOMATED CLEARING HOUSE. The ACH file is received by RCB every Friday from the IRS. It contains taxpayer refunds that are directly deposited to the bank. ( ERC ) ACK FILE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FILE. A file sent to a tax preparer by the IRS, acknowledging receipt of a tax return and providing data on the taxpayer s return and refund. BIT BINARY DIGIT. The smallest piece of data in your system, a one or zero. BPS BITS PER SECOND How many bits per second a device ( usually a modem ) can send/receive. BYTE A single character or number in a computer. ( i.e. the letter a, or the number 6 ) Usually consists of eight bits. CONFIRMATION FILE: A file sent by the tax preparer s ERC/RAL software to RCB, confirming that the tax preparer has printed a check file. COMM PORT COMMUNICATIONS PORT. A serial communications port, usually used by modems. Early systems may have only COM1 and COM2; newer systems may also have COM3 and COM4. DAN DEPOSITOR ACCOUNT NUMBER Is found in your tax prep. Software, on the Consists of the ERO s EFIN number followed by the taxpayer s SSN. The acct. number the ACH will be deposited into. DROP OFF COLLECTION POINT: RCB prohibits drop off collection points and will not knowingly accept them to participate in our programs. A drop off collection point is a store or office where employees will NOT have direct contact and/or interaction with taxpayer AND: 1a) the applicant owns the store or office ( see IRS handbook for electronic filers for definition of ownership) AND 1b) the store or office will use the same hardware, software, and transmission system provided by the applicant; OR 2) the applicant has entered into an agreement ( either verbal or written) with the office or store relating to e-filing. EFIN ELECTRONIC FILER S IDENTIFICATION NUMBER An identification number assigned by the IRS to an electronic filer, based on the district office that serves the area where the applicant is located. The EFIN is used in the construction of the Declaration Control Number, and indicates who the ERO is.

11 !"ERC ELECTRONIC REFUND CHECK A direct deposit of a taxpayer s return to RCB by the IRS.!"ERO ELECTRONIC RETURN ORIGINATOR. A firm, organization, or individual who deals directly with the taxpayer and who 1) prepares a tax return for the purpose of having an electronic return produced, or collects a prepared tax return for the purpose of having an electronic return produced; and 2) obtains the taxpayer s signature of form 8453, Individual Income Tax Declaration for E- Filing.!"ETIN - ELECTRONIC TRANSMITTER IDENTIFICATION NUMBER. A number assigned to an ERO by the IRS, based on the IRS service center where an ERO s transmissions will be sent. The ETIN allows access to the data communications subsystem and indicates who the transmitter is. If an ERO files to multiple IRS service centers, he will have only 1 EFIN, but he will have a different ETIN for each service center.!"lpt LINE PRINTER PORT Device name for a parallel printer port. Printers are usually on LPT1, but can be on LPT2 or above if networked.!"modem A device for communication between PC s, using standard telephone lines.
