Using Awareness of Self to Promote Creativity and Innovation in Nutrition Education I think that the very best way to teach slow food values in a fast food culture is through edible education. And so I created a project called the Edible Schoolyard. The idea is to bring them into a new relationship to food and agriculture. And they re learning about history of a foreign country, and they re cooking the food of that place. Probably the greatest lesson I have learned from the Edible Schoolyard project is that, when children grow food and they cook it, they all want to eat it. I m Alice Waters, brief but spectacular chef and restaurant owner, NPR The News Hour, July 23, 2015
Using Awareness of Self to Promote Creativity and Innovation in Nutrition Education Part III Make It Real
Using Awareness of Self to Promote Creativity and Innovation in Nutrition Education The Let Me Learn Process is an Advanced Learning System that equips individuals with an understanding of their personal Learning Processes so they can develop and use them to their fullest potential at home, at school, at work, and in the greater community.
At CACS, Creativity and Innovation in Nutrition Education is Made Real Each Day as. Students, teachers, and staff apply their selfdeveloped Personal Learning Profiles to make learning work for them. Students engage in monthly Making Sense Days where they connect book learning and their personal learning processes to the real world. Students experience healthy eating for healthy learning through:
Using Awareness of Self to Promote Creativity and Innovation in Nutrition Education The school chef engaging students in food preparation. The planting, maintenance, and harvesting of a school garden. The school s affiliation with 4-H, and The conducting of monthly service learning projects.
Martha, our school chef and nutritionist works her magic with not only food, but also with students. To increase student participation in the school lunch program, she along with the teachers and leadership of the school sponsored a take-out evening where families could order one of three full dinner menus and experience CACS healthy eating for healthy learning first hand.
I think that the very best way to teach slow food values is through edible education. And so I created a project called the Edible Schoolyard.

Using Awareness of Self to Promote Creativity and Innovation in Nutrition Education Not Just gimmicks Some Food for Thought tricks, entreaties or threats or bribes bring about creativity, innovation, or changed behavior. But instead understanding yourself and the individual with whom you are seeking to interact that is where true creativity and innovation begin and with them come understanding, trust, healthy growth and lasting change.
