2 Acuity Roles Educators are automatically assigned to school-level or class-level roles within Acuity, depending on their roles within the school > Principals and Assistant Principals are automatically given the SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR role within Acuity > All other educators are assigned the TEACHER role within Acuity. Class information is pulled from ATS and STARS: English and math teachers will automatically view their classes Other subject area teachers will need to be added as other teacher in order to view their students results on English or math assessments 2

3 What can each role do in Acuity? Access reports > School Administrators have access to reports for all classes and students > Teachers have access to reports for their own classes and students Assign Acuity Instructional Resources Create customized assignments in the Item Bank View assessments > School Administrators can view all assessments > Teachers can view ITAs, their own customized assignments, and customized assignments others have shared with them 3

4 What can each role do in Acuity? View class rosters, including student login information > School Administrators can view all class rosters > Teachers can view rosters for their own classes Manually score constructed-response items Create custom classes > School Administrators can create custom classes that include students across classes and grades > Teachers can create small groups of their own students 4

6 Importance of the Test Coordinator Role Identify trends across classes within a grade to share with grade-level or subject-area teams > Assist teachers in interpreting data from Acuity assessments > Assist teachers in developing instructional strategies in areas of student weakness > Plan professional development for the school Identify groups of students who share similar skill deficiencies (for collaborative inquiry work or other support services) 6

7 Set Up a Test Coordinator in Acuity Click MANAGEMENT on the left-hand navigation menu Click EDUCATORS Select the educator s current Role in Acuity (Teacher) and enter the educator s Last Name Click SEARCH

9 Set Up a Test Coordinator in Acuity Click SAVE AND ASSIGN ROLES Place a check in the Test Coordinator box and click SHOW ROLES Check off School-level role Click ASSIGN SELECTED Click VIEW SUMMARY 9

10 Add a Teacher to a Class in Acuity Click MANAGEMENT Click CLASSES Click SHOW EXISTING CLASSES 1 2 Click the Class Name link Click EDIT CLASS DETAIL Select Other Teacher(s) Click SAVE CLASS 10

11 Navigation/Demo Log into Acuity: > Periodic Assessment Web site: /PeriodicAssessments > Click Acuity > User Names are DOE Outlook addresses (e.g., emullins5) > Passwords are 6-digit file numbers Add a Test Coordinator Add an additional teacher to a class 11
