8 How To Participate Schools collect and track cans, bottles and paper for 4 weeks 8

9 Competition Components Public, Private, Charter US schools - US territories, Canada or Mexico in Open Division Registration toolkits available (1000) Single stream or source separated Weigh recyclables and/or convert from volume-weight Provide published population figure if winner Accept from community/parents put in community category or clearly track material from school only before putting in community recycling bin 9

10 Prizes One school/state will win $1000. National champion from state winners will win an additional prize. o Includes another $1000 and $2500 in store credit from Busch Systems to purchase recycling bins for your school. Community recycling schools will compete nationally in a separate category for 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd place prizes. 10

36 Recycle Across America Free Label Program will open again 10/3-10/17 Today there are a variety of different types of labels used on recycling bins, causing confusion for people looking to recycle. This confusion has led to low recycling levels in the U.S. levels that have barely improved in 15 years. In studies where a consistent labeling system has been introduced, capture rates increased more than 47% and the amount of contamination or trash entering the recycling bin decreased significantly.
