1 Course Description This course is designed for learners at the pre-intermediate level of English proficiency. Learners will build upon all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills important for effective communication with native English speakers. The course also systematically guides learners in improving their pronunciation, stress, rhythm, and intonation patterns. Learning Objectives At the end of the course, learners will: enhance their listening and speaking skills in a wide variety of social contexts; speak with accurate pronunciation, stress, and intonation; communicate ideas effectively through writing; develop their reading comprehension skills; become more confident in using English for communication. It encourages learners to function more effectively in communicative contexts through intense practice of the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. With emphasis on listening and speaking skills, the course provides learners with ample opportunity to use English in a variety of authentic communicative, role-playing situations. Learners will also learn idiomatic, colloquial and everyday speech to help them communicate with confidence in daily conversational situations. Learning Objectives At the end of the course, learners will: enhance their listening and speaking skills in a wide variety of social contexts; speak with accurate pronunciation, stress, and intonation; communicate ideas effectively through writing; develop their reading comprehension skills; become more confident in using English for communication.
