3 About international Experience international Experience is a non-profit student exchange organization dedicated to promoting education and understanding through intercultural and academic exchange. Our organization is certified by the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel and strictly adheres to all U.S. Department of State Student Exchange Program regulations and guidelines. We believe that learning about other cultures, languages, and customs is the best way to dispel prejudices and embrace global citizenship. Our students become fully immersed in the day-to-day life of a new culture, which includes becoming part of a new host family as well as attending a local school in the host country. This unique immersion experience allows students to improve language skills, create lifelong friendships, boost personal confidence and communication skills, and develop a deeper appreciation of the world we share. Why Choose international Experience? We care about each student Each student enrolled in an international Experience Study Abroad program is paired with a program representative in his/her home country and in the U.S. Whether it is an inquiry about the application process, upcoming exchange or questions during the time abroad, both the student and parent have direct access to their program representatives at all times. Safety is a number one priority for our program. Our representatives are held accountable for the safety and wellbeing of each student enrolled in our program. An emergency phone is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the U.S. and in the student s home country. Students are selected based on both academic standards and social maturity. international Experience requires a high standard for host family selection. Host families are carefully screened and selected by our U.S. partners. Program Flexibility Add-on services such as travel, language services, and tours are available for optional fees. Preparing for the Study Abroad Experience international Experience will provide a comprehensive in-person pre-departure orientation designed to prepare students for living abroad. Topics such as communication tips, culture shock and homesickness are addressed in the orientation. Once the student arrives in the U.S., a second orientation with the student s Local Coordinator is held to assure the student has an opportunity to get off to a good start in his/her new community and with the new host family.

This program offers you a choice in geographic location and type of school district. Our partner schools offer the best selection of academic, athletic, language, music and art programs to fit personal interests and academic goals. We work closely with each school to assure all admissions paperwork and visa documentation is properly filed prior to the student s arrival in the U.S. international Experience provides a Local Coordinator to serve as a student mentor and program monitor throughout your exchange program. We offer a range of tuition and fee packages ($16,200 - $31,000*) ie is consistently adding new school districts. * Prices are subject to change. Activity fees and spending money not included. international Experience Host Families Host Families are fully screened and go through an extensive interview process and criminal background check before acceptance into the international Experience program. Your host family will welcome you as a new family member into their home where you will become an active family participant. We encourage you to get the most out of your year abroad by becoming an active member of your community. international Experience Services international Experience provides all handling and processing for student records and assists in the student admission process. international Experience works with you to find a school that is a great match for your personal interests and academic requirements. international Experience locates, interviews and screens host families in compliance with U.S. Department of State regulations. international Experience students are covered by a comprehensive health insurance plan. international Experience Local Coordinators serve as the student s mentor, counselor and family representative throughout the exchange program.

5 Enrolling in an international Experience F-1 Public School District Once you have made the decision to study abroad with the flexibility of an F-1 Visa you will need to take the following steps: 1. Register online at: 2. An ie Representative will call you within 1-3 business days after you have registered to answer any questions you may have. 3. Once you have signed with ie, you will be provided a list of school districts within our program with a wide range of tuition and fee levels. Cost listed includes tuition, some fees, health insurance, SEVIS fee, airfare, and the ie program fee. While we cannot guarantee any one school district, we will work with you to prioritize your top choices. A placement always depends on school acceptance and securing a host family. 4. Provide ie with your top choices of school districts. Once you are accepted for admission ie will assist you with your F-1 Visa application*, school registration procedures, and begin to make the necessary arrangements to secure a host family on your behalf. Please note that acceptance is for a school district and not a specific high school within the district. Which high school your child will attend will depend upon the district s decision and host family availability. *The F1 Student Visas Application Process: Exchange students must apply for this visa in their home country before they depart for the US. Due to new regulations at U.S. Embassies/Consulates, an exchange student cannot schedule a required personal interview if the I-20 visa form has not been issued. Once you have registered with international Experience as an F-1 Student participant, we will work with you to determine the right school to meet your needs and interests. Once the school has been selected we will contact the school and begin the enrollment process and request the I- 20 visa form. Please note, public schools will not issue an I-20 visa form until the tuition has been paid and a host family secured.

Antelope Valley is now the busy center of an expanding aerospace industry. The total population of the Antelope Valley exceeds 350,000. The Valley offers an open landscape for nature lovers and adventurers of all kinds. Separated from Los Angeles and the coastal cities of Southern California by the San Gabriel Mountains, the Antelope Valley is located on the southwestern rim of the Greater Mojave Desert in northern Los Angeles County's "High Desert" region. Belmont High School is the only school within this district. The school is recognized nationally as one of the top schools in the United States as 98% of its graduates go on to attend university. Belmont, a residential suburb, is located the heart of the Boston metropolitan area. The area is renowned for its cultural facilities, world-class educational institutions (Cambridge and Harvard University) and champion sports franchises. Boston is celebrated for its role in the American Revolution and its establishment in independence. Many of the high schools offer the IB (International Baccalaureate) curriculum, as well as specialty program tracks in areas such as technology, robotics and the performing arts. Originally a mining camp, Boulder is now a thriving modern community with a population of approximately 100,000 people. The Rocky Mountain National Park is just a two-hour drive away. The city has preserved 45,000 acres of open space, much of which surrounds the city and helps maintain its geographical boundaries. The area is well known for its mountain biking, skiing, hiking and community parks. People in the community value healthy living, education and the environment. The mountainous area of Colorado is six times the size of Switzerland, containing 15,449 km of fishing streams, 2,850 lakes, and more than 1,000 peaks. The City of Denver has about 600,000 people, and borders on the Rocky Mountains. Winters are mild with an average daily high temperature of 7 C. There is occasional snow, however, it doesn t stay on the ground long. With over 300 days of sunshine a year outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, camping and running are very popular in this region. Ski resorts are also very close by. Denver, CO

Situated at the westernmost point of the Great Lakes on the north shore of Lake Superior, Duluth is accessible to oceangoing vessels from the Atlantic Ocean. Winters are long and very cold ( 18 C) for days/nights and bring consistent snow cover from late November to late March. About 350,000 people live in the city of Minneapolis. The Twin Cities metropolitan area is home to over 3.2 million people. The local Minneapolis arts and entertainment scene is very vibrant with local musicians having a strong following. There are many opportunities for outdoor activities, especially winter sports. Uniquely situated at the western edge of the High Desert, the city of Redmond is located in central Oregon. Redmond's climate is considered semi-arid with a mean annual precipitation of only 21.8 cm. Riverdale High School has a student body in the mid-200, and maintains a low student-teacher ratio to maximize individual attention. The Riverdale Community has valued excellence in education for more than 125 years. The community prides itself on its ability to create a specialized core-learning environment just outside a major metropolitan center of Portland, Oregon. Residents enjoy the benefits of a major urban area, while living within a short drive of both the Cascade Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Beaches to the west and state parks with hiking to the east surround this city of about 45,000 people. The famous "Hearst Castle" is located nearby and open for public tours. Being close to the coast, temperatures are mild - summers are pleasant but not too hot, and winters are consistently well above freezing. Surfing, windsurfing and kite boarding are popular activities. The University of California San Luis Obispo draws thousands of college students to the surrounding area. Located in the beautiful Sonoran Desert, Scottsdale, Arizona is bordered by Phoenix to the west and the McDowell Mountains on the east. With a population of 220,000, Scottsdale is annually rated among the nation s most desirable communities to live in. Scottsdale is a popular tourist destination and offers worldclass hotels, spas, golf courses and shopping centers. Temperatures are high, as this is a desert region, and can exceed 38 C in the summer months. Winter months are a pleasant 20 C with many warm sunny days.
