6 Website Bootcamp with WordPress January 31, 2015 Using the right tools, creating your own website is far easier than one would imagine. In this 4-hour course, participants will learn how to build their own website using the free, easy-to-use WordPress platform. By the end of this workshop they will know how to create posts & pages, build a navigation menu, apply themes, and customize themes. The best part: Attendees will leave the workshop with their own fully functional website. No prior programming experience is required. 7 Web Design Basics: HTML & CSS February 28, 2015 HTML and CSS are the building blocks of the Internet, providing the layout and design of the websites we use every day. In this free 4-hour interactive workshop, we ll teach the basics of HTML and CSS, and guide attendees through the creation of their own web page. By the end of the workshop, participants will have built their own online resume and have the tools necessary to continue building and enhancing it on their own. 8 St Paddy s Game Dev Shindig March 21, 2015 We all love to play video games, but did you know that video game development is one of the most highly sought skillsets in the modern IT market? This free workshop is open to girls and boys (and their parents) ages 11 and up who are interested in game development and computer programming. Instructor Anna Tito from the award winning New Orleans firm, Gameloft, will introduce participants to the basics of game development using free programs like Scratch and Unity. By the end of the workshop, participants will have built their own St. Patrick s Day themed game which will be available online for their friends to play. No prior programming experience is necessary. 10 GitHub 101 April 18, 2015 Target attendance: 80 Version control is a must-have in development teams, with GitHub emerging as a leading tool. In this free, hands on course, participants will learn the basic concepts of distributed version control to effectively begin using the GitHub suite of tools. Explore both Git concepts and typical GitHub workflows through practical demonstrations.

11 Intro to Programming with JavaScript June 6, 2015 Target attendance: 30 JavaScript is one of the cornerstones of interactive web development, and a key addition to any technical resume. In this free, interactive workshop, we ll walk participants through the basics of programming in JavaScript. By the end of the workshop, participants will have built their own version of a newsfeed and will walk away with an understanding of basic programming concepts, such as variables, for loops, while loops, arrays, and objects. Prior experience with HTML and CSS is required.

12 Automated Testing Workshop September 19, 2015 Target attendance: 30 A structured approach to testing is an integral part of development best practices, with automated testing becoming a standard in the industry. In this free, 4-hour workshop participants will learn about the basic concepts of automated testing, including UI automation, API automation, integration automation, and automated testing tools.

13 Bring Your Daughter to Hack Day October 2015 Target attendance: 140 (70 parent/child pairs) Hack Day is open to adults and children of all genders and technology experience, and is a great opportunity for adults to spend the day building something with their daughter, son, niece, nephew, sister, cousin, etc. With the help of our coaches, adultchild pairs will work together on an interactive project.

14 Graphic Data: Presenting Information Beautifully November 2015 Target attendance: 30 In a world where we re overwhelmed by data, presenting information in a beautiful and meaningful manner can be what sets your business apart. In this free, interactive workshop, we ll walk participants through the basics of graphic design using free tools like Gimp. By the end of the workshop, attendees will have built their own infographic and will walk away with an introductory understanding of graphic design principles.
