4 The HSBC Premier experience HSBC Premier allows you to freely move money between your multiple bank accounts in different countries without any electronic payment charges. In addition to linked-up banking, HSBC Premier raises the bar for access to professional expertise across the globe. You ll now receive priority service, personal support and wealth management advice to help you fulfil your financial goals in over 40 countries and territories where HSBC Premier is available. HSBC Premier is your reward for investing your money with us. HSBC Premier is available to you, if you are 18 or over, pay your annual income into your HSBC Premier Bank Account and either: 1. have savings or investments of at least 50,000 with HSBC in the UK; or 2. have an individual annual income of at least 100,000 and one of the following products with HSBC in the UK: a mortgage; an investment, life insurance or protection product; Or, qualify for HSBC Premier in another country. Please note: HSBC in the UK excludes M&S Bank, First Direct and HSBC Expat. For the second criteria, in the case of a joint account, at least one of the parties must have an individual annual income of at least 100,000. The investment, life insurance or protection products also includes those purchased through one of HSBC's advisers. We ll review your account on a regular basis and if you no longer meet the qualifying criteria, we ll transfer your account to Bank Account. 4

With their access to international resources and knowledge, combined with their local market intelligence, they are well placed to help you maximise your financial success. Global recognition As an HSBC Premier customer in the UK, you ll receive equivalent service in all of the markets where HSBC Premier is available. This means that in every one of our HSBC Premier centres located in key cities around the world, you ll be recognised as an HSBC Premier customer. An English-speaking representative will be able to help you resolve your queries and any urgent financial problems that need to be solved back at home. 6 The HSBC Premier essentials Your HSBC Premier Bank Account Your HSBC Premier bank account provides the following benefits: } A 500 interest free overdraft Any balance that exceeds this will be charged at a debit interest rate that's preferential to our other current accounts. Your HSBC Premier Debit Card Your HSBC Premier Debit Card allows you to withdraw up to 1,000 a day from cash machines around the UK and in over 200 countries and territories worldwide without HSBC ATM transaction fees. Please note that all foreign currency exchange rates shown on your statement against each transaction are inclusive of an exchange rate adjustment charge, which is currently 2.75%. And although we won t apply a transaction fee, some operators may apply a direct charge for withdrawals from their cash machines. 7 Managing your money You can choose to manage your money, however it suits you, with our 24-hour* telephone and internet banking services. Or you can complete your banking while you re on the go using the Express Banking machines, available in branches across the UK. If you are new to HSBC, you ll need a security number to get started with the telephone and internet banking services. To set up your security number: visit your local branch or call the HSBC Premier telephone banking service on the number below. Telephone banking With HSBC Premier you have 24-hour* access to our dedicated HSBC Premier telephone banking service. Whatever time you call, you ll always be able to speak to a member of the HSBC Premier team. They will take care of all your day-to-day banking needs. For speed on simple transactions like balances and ordering statements, you can use our automated telephone banking service. Personal Internet Banking Manage your money online wherever you are in the world, 24 hours a day, subject to planned maintenance periods. To help ensure maximum efficiency of your card while abroad, you can register your travel plans by phone or online. Worldwide travel insurance Available if you are aged under 70 and your main home is in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, you are registered with a local doctor and liable to pay local taxes for at least six months at the time of opening your Premier account or booking the trip, whichever is later. So if you are taking your family on a winter skiing holiday, you ll receive cover for you, your partner and your dependent children. That s why we ve partnered with global security specialists red24 to provide you with unrivalled travel safety assistance as an HSBC Premier benefit. } Receive a detailed travel report prior to departure, tailored according to your destination, age and reason for travel. } Whilst abroad, receive updates and SMS alerts about events that may affect your personal safety. } In case of a life-threatening situation when abroad, a rescue team will be deployed to evacuate and repatriate you, your partner and any children (under 23 or in full time education) away from immediate danger. 13 Relocating to a new country If travelling turns into something more permanent, as an HSBC Premier customer you ll have instant access to a wealth of help, advice and support to make your transition as smooth and hassle-free as possible. } We ll undertake an International Needs Review with you before you move to make sure all your banking needs are covered. } When you get to your new country, your local relationship manager will contact you to make sure your banking service is running smoothly. } Where appropriate, we can introduce you to our offshore banking specialists. There are some countries in which this service is not available. Setting up a foreign bank account If you re moving abroad, a bank account is one of the first things you ll need. This can often be difficult to set up but as an HSBC Premier customer, we ll have your new account with a local Relationship Manager up and running before you even arrive. Your new account number, along with your cards, your cheque books, your PINs, will be dispatched within ten working days from receipt of the required documentation. And we won t charge you an extra penny in the process. 13

14 Global View and Global Transfers Multiple bank accounts in different countries can be difficult to control especially when you want to move your money around. As an HSBC Premier customer you have access to Global View via Personal Internet Banking, enabling you to view your HSBC accounts from around the world on one screen and manage your money from a single internet banking log-on. The service includes same day transfers and as a HSBC Premier customer there are no transaction charges when making a Global Transfer. Please be aware there are some countries where HSBC does not have a presence and bank accounts and Global View are not available. Offshore banking If you re living and working abroad, our HSBC Premier offshore banking service could help you to grow your wealth and maximise the opportunities open to you. HSBC Bank International, based in Jersey, can give your savings the freedom to grow in a safe and stable home. Depending on your circumstances, banking offshore may also open up potential tax efficiencies available to you. The FSCS can pay compensation to depositors if a bank is unable to meet its financial obligations. Most depositors including most individuals and small businesses are covered by the scheme. In respect of deposits, an eligible depositor is entitled to claim up to the current FSCS limit for deposits. We will tell you if your application has been successful and when we will open your account. This may be subject to appropriate identification, address verification or other specified documentation being produced to us. For a period of 14 days after the date you are provided with the HSBC Premier Service you have the right to cancel your contract with us and close your account without charge. In both instances we must receive your instructions in writing or via our Personal Internet Banking service (you can only use our Personal Internet Banking service if you have two or more accounts with us, including any First Direct accounts, and the balance on your account is being transferred to another account with us). If it is a joint account we must receive instructions from all account holders. We have the right to close your account at any time and will normally give you at least two months notice of this. HSBC subscribe to the Lending Code. Cash Machines Fee free cash machine access means free of fees from HSBC. Some members may apply a direct charge for withdrawals from their cash machines and this will be advised on the screen at the time of withdrawal. You will be given the opportunity to cancel the transaction should you wish to do so. Some of our UK self-service machines let you use your debit card to make cash withdrawals in euros or US dollars. The HSBC prevailing currency exchange rate, the amount of currency you will receive and the sterling equivalent of your currency withdrawal will be detailed on screen. This amount will be immediately deducted from your account balance. Card Usage You are not liable for any transactions undertaken if your HSBC Bank credit/ debit card is misused by someone who obtained it without your consent. We reserve the right to investigate and ultimately hold registered cardholders liable if we believe/prove that the cardholder was negligent, or participated/assisted in the completion of the fraudulent transactions. Worldwide cash withdrawals The exchange rate that applies to any foreign currency debit card payments (including cash withdrawals) is the wholesale market rate used by VISA applying on the day the conversion is made plus our foreign exchange charge, which is currently 2.75% of the applicable VISA wholesale rate. We will make the conversion and deduct the payment from your account once we receive details of the payment from VISA, at the latest the next working day. Details of the current wholesale market rates can be obtained by calling us on the usual telephone numbers. Mortgages Our mortgages are subject to security and status. A charge will be taken over the property. Think carefully before securing other debts against your home. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage. Travel Insurance Travel Insurance is subject to policy terms and conditions and is only available to customers under 70 years of age who are resident in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man. Please note: To be resident, your main home must be in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man and you must be registered with a local doctor and liable to pay local taxes. You must have been resident for at least six months at the time of opening your account to qualify for Worldwide Travel Insurance. You must declare any pre-existing medical conditions suffered by you and any persons insured by the travel insurance to the Insurer s medical assessment helpline, at the time of opening your HSBC Premier bank account or when booking your trip. You also need to tell them about any medical conditions suffered by anyone whose health may affect your travel plans, such as a close relative, travelling companion or close business associate. If you fail to tell them about your pre-existing medical conditions, your insurance may not be valid and you may not be covered. Policy terms and conditions apply. 21

22 Global View and Global Transfers Before you can make a Global Transfer your accounts will need to be linked. Foreign currency exchange rates may apply. Interest rates Rates on HSBC Premier Savings Account are preferential when compared to our Flexible Saver or any account that replaces it. We will pay you interest after deduction of basic rate tax. If you are a higher rate tax payer you may have to pay the higher rate of income tax on any interest credited to your account. To benefit from preferential rates on our Cash ISA or HSBC Premier Savings Account you must continue to hold the HSBC Premier service. If you no longer have the HSBC Premier service you will no longer receive the preferential rate but will receive our standard rate. You will only be able to receive Preferential interest monthly on our Cash ISA. If you no longer qualify for the HSBC Premier service and your interest reverts to our standard Cash ISA rate, you will continue to receive interest monthly. Overdrafts If you have an overdraft you have to pay debt interest in the usual way. The first 500 is interest free. For overdraft interest rate charges please refer to the HSBC Premier Price List. Financial planning HSBC Premier Financial Advice is only available to UK residents who have at least 50,000 in savings and investments. We offer restricted advice. This means we don t offer products from the whole of the market, but rather recommend from a select range of products and providers. The value of investments (and any income received from them) can fall as well as rise and you may not get back what you invested. For some investments this can also happen as a result of exchange rate fluctuations as shares and funds may have an exposure to overseas markets. Most investments should be considered as a medium- to long-term commitment, meaning you should be prepared to hold them for at least five years. We are required to advise you that if you undertake investment business with any non-uk members of the HSBC Group you will be excluded from the benefits of the rules and regulations made under the UK s Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, including the UK s Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
