Currently enrolled students may preregister using Web Services Contact your faculty adviser for PIN numbers and assistance with course selection Web Services will be available for registration until classes begin Former and transfer students should contact the Admissions Office at the campus of their choice for preregistration information and information about updating admission files New students who have completed admissions requirements can preregister after attending an orientation session Contact the Admissions Office at your campus or center for more information or to arrange an appointment ORIENTATION - All new, first-time college students will participate in orientation during the summer Entering freshmen who have completed admissions requirements will be given priority The Admissions Office will notify you of your orientation date and time New students should plan to be on campus for a full day of activities during orientation, which includes an overview of general college policies, procedures and guidelines, assessment testing (if needed), advisement, and registration The assessment process is to ensure that students are placed in the appropriate college course levels Students who have not provided scores from the American College Test (ACT) will be administered placement examinations in English, reading and mathematics As class sections close, additional sections may be opened as enrollment warrants Classes with an insufficient number of students may be cancelled Instructional deans reserve the right to alter, change or delete courses from this schedule as needed or required FEE PAYMENT - To secure classes, students who preregister must make a payment or payment arrangements with the campus Business Office prior to deadline (see Academic Calendar) If payment is not made by the deadline, classes will be removed, and students may register again during regular registration Students registering during late registration must make a payment or arrangements for payment on the day of registration See the Academic Calendar for all payment deadlines financial aid Tuition and Fees Active-Duty Military and Military Dependents: Out-of-state fees are waived if active-duty military and/or dependents of active-duty military submit to the campus records clerk before the beginning of each a certificate from his/her commanding officer, which includes the information specified in Certification or residency of military personnel under the Residency Information section of the current catalog MasterCard, Visa & Discover: Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will accept MC, Visa and Discover for the payment of student tuition and fees For information, contact the business office at the campus of your choice, or pay online at wwwmgcccedu Click on Web Services Deferred Payment of Fees: One-third of the total fees is due at registration The remaining balance will be divided into two payments during the semester A $40 delinquent fee will be placed on each student s account after the third payment becomes delinquent, and the student s account will be placed on HOLD For more information on current MGCCC Tuition and Fees, payment options, financial aid, and housing, visit: wwwmgcccedu/future_students/tuition_and_feesphp 1 Apply early Steps in the financial aid process take four to six weeks The priority deadline each year is April 1 2 Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at wwwfafsaedgov The form is also available at high schools, public libraries and Gulf Coast Financial Aid offices The processing center will mail a Student Aid Report (SAR) to you 3 Submit all pages of the Student Aid Report (SAR) you received to the Financial Aid Office at the campus you plan to attend You may be required to submit additional information, such as tax returns, to support information presented on the SAR 4 Complete the MGCCC Financial Aid Application, then bring or mail to the campus you plan to attend 5 Complete the appropriate Gulf Coast scholarship application forms for the scholarships of your choice 6 When your file is complete, it will be reviewed You will receive an award letter informing you of your award All financial aid awards are tentative, pending the college s receipt of funds from federal, state and local sources 7 Request your high school transcript be sent to Gulf Coast if you are applying for a scholarship 8 File a new financial aid application each year that you need financial aid 9 Students whose financial aid files are not complete by the time of final registration should anticipate paying fees at the time of registration and a delay in the processing of their financial aid papers For more information about registration, visit: wwwmgcccedu/future_students/ registration_informationphp

3 Online Courses Availability of Online Courses: Links to current course offerings can be found on the MGCCC elearning Web site: wwwmgcccedu/ elearning All MGCCC students will be provided an OFFICIAL address that is required to be used for online classes Please note that all college correspondence will be sent to the official student account Instructions for accessing student accounts can be retrieved by visiting the following wwwmgcccedu/ elearning/ php Technical Support for Login Instructions: Students who are new to elearning may retrieve their usernames and passwords by following the instructions below To obtain the username and password for online, hybrid and web-enhanced courses, as well as student accounts, follow these steps: 1 Go to wwwmgcccedu 2 Click the Web Services link (at the top of the page) 3 Click on the Log into Secure Area link 4 Enter User ID (SSN or GCID) and PIN (primary pin number), and then click the Login button 5 Click Personal Information 6 Click Retrieve Student and D2L/Blackboard Logon Information 7 Record the Username and Password information displayed 8 Go to wwwmgcccedu/elearning/ 9 Click Login to Courses Students who have logged into D2L or Blackboard previously but cannot remember their login credentials should contact Technical Support, Use of username and password by anyone other than the registered student may be cause for dismissal from courses Registration Confirmation: To confirm registration, students should check their MSVCC Student Profile by going to sbcjcwebsbcjc ccmsus/msvccvisitor/studentloginasp Please allow 48 hours for enrollments to post to the student profile after registering in Web Services Online Course Start Date: Course sites open on the first day of class Please refer to the elearning Web site for actual start dates for each Location of Courses: Courses may be offered in Desire2Learn or Blackboard Students should check their MSVCC student profile prior to the start of class to deine the platform on which each class is offered The student profile can be accessed by visiting the elearning Web site wwwmgcccedu/elearning/ Textbooks: Many textbooks for MGCCC students, who are enrolled in MGCCC- provided online courses, are on MGCCC book service The cost per book is $30 Additional MGCCC course materials such as CDs and lab manuals may be purchase items available in campus bookstores or online To deine which textbooks are purchase items, go to sbcjcwebsbcjcccmsus/msvccvisitor/, and then select the course-number link for the desired course MGCCC students enrolling in online courses provided by other colleges should go to sbcjcwebsbcjcccmsus/msvccvisitor/ studentloginasp and check their student profile for textbook information for the course Textbooks for courses offered by other colleges are purchase items Go to wwwmgcccedu/elearning and click on the Textbook Information link for information on how to obtain purchase-item textbooks Fees: There is a nonrefundable fee of $10 per credit hour for online courses in addition to tuition costs For example, the fee for a threehour online course is $10 x 3 hours or $30 Technical Assistance: Students can request technical assistance 24 hours a day by visiting the MSVCC Online Support Center at or d2paraturecom/ics/support/default asp?deptid=4523 Questions dealing with course content or course assignments should be referred to the course instructor Questions dealing with other aspects of college life should be referred to the appropriate office To provide the best service possible and a quicker resolution to your problem, please have a copy of your MSVCC student profile handy and provide the information outlined below when contacting your instructor and/or technical support: Your first and last name Your student ID # (AKA: GCID or M#) The course name and number for which you require assistance A detailed description of the problem for which you require assistance How to use Web Services Prerequisites for Courses: All students must meet prerequisite requirements as outlined in the college catalog Computers for Online Courses: MGCCC does not provide dedicated computers for students to use to access online courses The college recommends that students provide their own computers Go to wwwmgcccedu/elearning, and click on the Frequently Asked Questions link to view the computer hardware/software requirements for taking online courses The college is not responsible for technical problems that students may have with computers that the students use to access the online courses Internet Access: Students will need to have their own Internet Service Provider to access their course site The college is not responsible for technical problems that students may experience with their Internet Service Provider Attendance: One of the methods used by instructors to deine attendance in online courses is by viewing student access in the course To access a course, you must login to D2L or Blackboard, and click the name of the course in which you are enrolled If you access any of your online courses for any reason, you have attended class and will not be eligible for a refund of tuition and fees To withdraw from an online class, contact your course instructor Current students: Please use Web registration only after seeing your adviser and receiving your registration PIN number For more information about online courses, visit wwwmgcccedu/ distance_learning/ Access the college homepage at wwwmgcccedu, and click the MGCCC WEB SERVICES link in the menu bar 1 Click on LOGIN TO SECURE AREA 2 Follow instructions on screen Enter your USER ID (Social Security number) and PRIMARY PIN number Click LOGIN 3 Click on STUDENT SERVICES AND FINANCIAL AID 4 Click on REGISTRATION From the menu, select CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION STATUS This permits you to view any items that would prevent your registration: administrative holds, academic standing, curriculum, registration proirity time 5 Click the BACK button once to return to the REGISTRATION menu Select ADD/DROP CLASSES 6 Select the TERM (semester) for registering classes Click SUBMIT TERM 7 Enter your REGISTRATION PIN number you received from your adviser Click on SUBMIT PIN 8 On this page are common errors that can occur during registration Scroll to the bottom of the page, enter the CRN (course reference number) for each course Click on SUBMIT CHANGES 9 The same screen returns to confirm your registration Scroll to the ADD/DROP portion to review your registered classes Note any errors that occur Registration cannot be confirmed for classes with errors 10 To drop classes, click on ACTION button next to the course on your CURRENT SCHEDULE and select WEB DROPPED Click on SUBMIT CHANGES 11 CLASS SEARCH, you can search by subject, course number, title of course, specific day, time, instructor, campus, days, nights or weekends NOTE: When building a class schedule while in the class search screen, you may choose to REGISTER or ADD TO WORKSHEET Register means exactly that When you click, you are registered! ADD TO WORKSHEET allows you to switch classes around before actually deciding which ones to keep for registration After using ADD TO WORKSHEET, you must confirm your classes by clicking register 12 When you have finished registering, return to the REGISTRATION MENU 13 Select REGISTRATION FEE ASSESSMENT Your fees for the will be assessed for the classes you selected To make payment, click on the CREDIT CARD PAYMENT link at the bottom of the fee assessment page Fees may be paid by Visa or MasterCard only To view your schedule, select STUDENT SCHEDULE BY DAY AND TIME at the bottom of the screen To print a copy, click the PRINT icon at the top of the screen 14 After you have paid your fees, click EXIT on the blue bar at the top of the Web page 15 Click RETURN TO HOMEPAGE on the USER LOGOUT page This will close the browser and protect your account from the next user
