All survey responses, comments and insights have been consolidated for this Australian IT Recruitment Market Insights and Salary Guide This survey was carried out during June-July 2015 and distributed via an online questionnaire. 3 Executive Summary As the digital and online sector goes from strength to strength project managers and business analysts skilled in this area remain in high demand. BYOD, flexible working environments, elearning and workforce digitisation remain buzzwords in this industry. Major projects planned within the education sector around student management systems, infrastructure upgrades and elearning as well as those with a customer experience and online focus over the next 12 will continue to drive growth. Skills in high demand are set to include Agile, digital, online, cloud, mobility and CRM. Project Managers would do well to up skill and focus on Agile, Six Sigma and other merging methodologies rather than relying on traditional PMO roles. However, regardless of technical skills, it s important to note that employers are always seeking good functional project managers with the ability to sit between the business and IT. Candidates who are able to demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to get a failing project back on track will always stand out. Clients seeking to hire in this candidate driven market will need to plan the recruitment process in advance to ensure there aren t delays this remains a key advantage when trying to secure top talent. It s worth noting that although training remains in the top 5 most sought after benefit for candidates within Project Management and Business Analysis, over 40% of those surveyed haven t received any training in the past 1 to five years. Candidates believe they will need to learn cloud, Big Data and advanced analytics tools, digital marketing and transformation to stay abreast of the market. Employers would do well to review their formal training offerings when seeking to attract and retain staff, particularly as the market moves to that of a talent short one. Flexible working and a positive working culture also remain high on the priority list for candidates. In spite of increased demand overall, rates will be fairly stagnant this year, with 66% of those surveyed anticipating rates will remain the same over the coming 12. However, with the finance sector set to see an increased demand for Digital and Agile Projects Manager and Business Analysts rates within this particular skill set will likely rise.
