Creating a Financial Institution Website When considering online banking, we should start with the fundamentals. An institution needs a strong platform from which to offer services. There are two distinct divisions to your website: the backend and the front. The backend site structure needs to be secure, robust, and able to support the products you wish to offer. The front end the user interface should be clean and uncluttered, easy to navigate, and provide quick access to the features and utilities your members use. There are thousands of website developers, but a small number focus on the special needs of financial institutions. 4 The Online Banking Platform With a solid foundation in place, we can turn to the services you wish to provide your members. Users want an easy-tonavigate interface that gives them all the information and capabilities needed to conduct activities online. Business members in particular need a sophisticated but user-friendly system. From the credit unions point of view, a superior online banking system is customizable, secure, reliable, and fully integrated with the core processor. It also serves as a member communications channel, providing a platform for announcing new services and promoting existing ones. Symitar s answer to the needs of the member and institution is NetTeller Online Banking. This solution is credit union branded and completely integrated with the Episys core processing system. It s also customizable with the use of PowerOn, Symitar s programming utility for adapting and modifying software. Our online banking product uses the industry s highest security standards. Some highlights of NetTeller s benefits: Many banking options. From any location users can: Apply to join the credit union or apply for a loan. See the Member Account Origination section below for details. Access account balances and history, and view and download account statements and check images. Download account information into personal financial management solutions. Change passwords, addresses, and other contact and security information. A customizable interface. MyNetTeller lets your members arrange their home banking workspaces in any configuration that suits them. Each section of the screen (Recent Transactions, Account Balances) is a separate widget that the user can drag and drop to set up the interface exactly the way he or she wants it. and text alerts. NetTeller ealerts and text alerts give members a means of automatically monitoring accounts, as well as a way to detect changes and fraud. Notifications can be set for balance statements, events, security triggers, and other criteria. Modular design. Installing NetTeller is not an all-or-nothing proposition. You can start with your most pressing need and add to the package later based on member and market-driven demands. Credit unions can also choose to add a module that enables inbound and outbound institution-to-institution transfers. Members can use a drop-down menu to select the accounts they want to transfer to or from. They can specify the amount to transfer, set one-time or recurring payments, view pending transfers, and access a history of transfers. NetTeller also integrates with godough and PointMobility SM mobile banking, which are covered in the Mobile section below. Another essential part of a member banking platform is online finance management (OFM). The need for planning and budgeting is important not just for mortgages, retirement, or college, but for everyday expense management. 5 Symitar s OFM solution is OurCashFlow by Lodo Software, Inc. OurCashFlow is a tightly integrated NetTeller module. The program aggregates account information from multiple institutions so members can easily and quickly assess their net worth, manage budgeting, and perform financial planning. Some highlights of the program include: MoneyMinder. This assesses a member s financial status and helps evaluate spending decisions based on overall financial plans. Tracking and categorization. OurCashFlow automatically categorizes transactions for members, tracks spending habits and savings goals, provides budgeting information, and presents user-defined alerts. All of a user s data is viewable via a simple web-based dashboard. Members can drag and drop transactions to group them into categories that fit their needs. For your commercial members, NetTeller Cash Management offers a wide range of flexible features. There are options for cash management entitlements, ACH payments and collections, wire transfers, reporting, and file uploads. Business members get single sign-on access to all online banking functions. Bill Pay Services For individual credit union members, the most desired features of a bill pay service are ease-of-use and flexibility. For small businesses, making online payments needs to be not only efficient but customizable, because no two companies have exactly the same needs. Symitar s bill pay solutions fill these requirements. They can be an add-on to NetTeller Online Banking, integrated with other banking systems, or used as a standalone product. Our staff provides the first line of technical support for your members, freeing your employees from support duties. ipay Consumer Bill Pay is for individual use. Members love this product because of the variety of payment features. They can pay bills from multiple accounts, handle expedited payments, make person-to-person electronic payments, make account-to-account interbank transfers, easily track check payments, and receive text alerts and payment reminders. Another popular feature is ebill, which enables members to receive bills electronically. Once they experience the ease of receiving and paying bills in a single online interface, they won t want to go back. Electronic billing increases member retention. While NetTeller offers integrated P2P services, Symitar also offers a standalone P2P solution, ipay s TheWayiPay, which allows anyone in the United States with a bank account to send and receive money using his or her existing accounts. This service leverages the same secure processing as online banking transactions. With TheWayiPay, members can make payments using only the recipient s name and address. The money is deducted from the sender s account and deposited directly in the recipient s account in one to three business days with payment confirmations sent to the recipient s address. ipay Business Bill Pay is perfect for small businesses. It s the most customizable small business bill pay solution on the market. In addition to all the features listed above for Consumer Bill Pay, Business Bill Pay enables: More entitlement controls than any competing system. You can give differing authority levels to multiple users (for example, caps on transactions), allowing delegation of payment tasks as needed. The ability to set dual account signature requirements (keep your transactions from processing without the proper approvals). The ability to send payroll deposits to multiple accounts. Also for small businesses, ProfitStars BillSimple enables easy invoicing and electronic payments. Give your business members the option of a branded receivables website and branded invoices. Flexible payment options make it simple for their customers to pay. 5 Symitar Online Banking

6 There is another payment option expressly designed for nonprofits, small businesses, and other organizations that accept online payments or donations. ProfitStars EPS SmartPay Express offers an online payments option with minimal technical setup. It s an ideal payment solution for utilities, homeowner associations, churches, daycare centers, and similar organizations. EPS SmartPay Express provides a hosted, member-customizable site for accepting and processing payments. The site can accept payments from checking or savings accounts, credit or debit cards, PayPal, PayNearMe, and other options. Member Account Origination Do your members have to personally visit a branch location to open a new account or apply for a loan? They should have another choice. We offer great opportunities for online account applications. One of these is Opening Act, offered as part of a strategic alliance with MeridianLink, Inc. Opening Act puts power and options into the hands of members, offering end-to-end deposit/ account opening and loan origination. It can be accessed from the Internet, call centers, kiosks, and branch locations. While members enjoy the convenience, credit unions save money by supporting paperless transactions and improved operating efficiencies. The program s XML open architecture enables integration with everything from ordering checks, to opening an IRA, to processing an auto loan making all these activities part of one user-friendly member-accessible platform. Opening Act s application forms are pre-populated with each member s credit and loan data. Among this product s features: Deposit account origination. Opening Act performs several ID verifications and validations, credit and OFAC checks, and it also queries check history databases. It enables members to transfer funds into new accounts via debit, credit cards, or ACH. Loan account origination. Members can apply for auto, unsecured, mortgage, credit card, retail loans, and home equity lines of credit. Opening Act s prequalifying engine analyzes loan and credit data in real time to generate a precise lending decision within seconds. The program interfaces with Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter; Freddie Mac Loan Prospector; AVM; flood report; title and tax return validation; and a credit analyzer to help members improve credit. Opening Act can also integrate with DealerTrack, RouteOne, and CUDL interfaces to obtain auto loans from specific dealers. Cross-selling of financial products. This solution evaluates information gathered from the credit report during the application process. Only products that the member is prequalified for are included in this function. Another method to apply for an account or a loan is with NetTeller Loan Application and NetTeller Member Application. Ask your Account Executive for details about our account origination solutions. Mobile Services Banking via a phone or tablet is taken for granted by most account holders. They want their credit union to have an app that enables them to simply tap an icon instead of browsing to your website. NetTeller users have an excellent option. godough is our mobile phone solution, and PointMobility SM is our tablet solution: they are offered together as a single product. godough is a native Apple ios or Android app. PointMobility is native to ios. They permit your members to conduct business easily and securely, as well enabling users to search for branch offices using GPS. Primary features of these products include: Flexible branding. The applications can be branded for your credit union. They dynamically change to look good on any screen. Support for all common accounts and activities. These apps handle check deposit, card management, CDs, loans, checking, and money market accounts. They enable viewing of account information, making transfers, and paying bills. As an add-on to NetTeller Online Banking, they function as a seamless extension to all of the NetTeller services. SMS functions. Members can receive instant account balance or history retrieval via text message. Security. Multifactor authentication is supported. 6 Symitar Online Banking

7 For customers who do not use NetTeller, or desire a different mobile solution, we also offer a standalone product: Banno Mobile. This app is native to both ios and Android. It s cost effective and can carry your credit union brand. In addition to traditional mobile banking services, Banno Mobile is a decision support tool that allows your customers to aggregate all of their account balances and transactional data. It supports push notifications for alerts and messages. Remote Deposit and Mobile Deposit Symitar offers remote deposit solutions for small businesses and individuals. This critical service provides member convenience, reduces lobby traffic for routine deposit tasks, and adds efficiency to deposit processing. These solutions are fully integrated with the mobile applications and services listed above. It s hard to beat the convenience of the product we offer ProfitStars Remote Deposit Anywhere (RDA). RDA enables members to capture and deposit check images from any location, using a compatible smartphone, tablet, or flatbed scanner. The mobile interface can be branded to match your credit union. The product s intuitive user interface makes scanning simple, and its software ensures accurate imaging by providing distortion correction, lighting correction, and auto cropping. It can distinguish between a business-size and smaller personal check. RDA automatically performs courtesy amount recognition (CAR) and legal amount recognition (LAR) for each check. Our support staff will key in any amounts not read by the scanner and will make MICR repairs. Once balancing is complete, the business or member is notified via alert, and the deposit is presented online. Business members with a high volume of checks often need to submit multiple checks at once. For these businesses, we offer remote deposit solutions such as the service center based Remote Deposit Express (RDX). The RDA and RDX solutions are part of ProfitStars Enterprise Payment Solutions platform, which offer multiple products and capabilities to match the deposit needs of your members. Targeted Digital Marketing Online banking provides an excellent opportunity to reach members with news about financial products that might interest and benefit them. A key to successful member outreach is personalization. Rather than blanketing them with information, make messages timely and relevant. For credit unions interested in targeted marketing, we offer Kernel, a data-driven marketing platform. Kernel monitors member behavior within your digital channels, and then presents product advertisements based on individual interests. 8 Online Banking Security When you ve taken the time and effort to invest in a full service virtual branch on the web, you want the peace of mind offered by Multifactor Authentication. This Symitar product uses two-factor authentication, which protects your institution and members while meeting regulatory requirements. Multifactor Authentication is cost-effective and member-friendly. It builds member profiles using such information as device ID, IP address, transaction types, and dollar amounts. Highlights of this product include: Simplicity. Members do not have to change the login process, download software, or buy hardware. Consistency. Using RSA Consumer Solutions technology, each member chooses a personalized graphic that he or she will see when accessing your site. Members should verify that they are seeing the correct image. Risk-based authentication. If the system detects a risk due to the type of transaction, dollar amount, or an identification discrepancy, it will use a challenge response, and has the option of generating a telephone call if the challenge response fails. A service that can work in tandem with Multifactor Authentication on NetTeller Online Banking is Security Manager. It enables you to send a one-time password via text message for transactions that you feel are high-risk. Give your business members an extra layer of security with Symantec Hard Tokens, which are fully integrated with NetTeller Online Banking. These tokens, based on time synchronization technology, provide a simple, hacker-resistant one-time authentication code. The service has a self-enroll feature that guides credit union members through the steps required to register their token devices.
