4 BERGENFIELD HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP The Bergenfield High School Alumni Association will offer a scholarship in the amount of $1, to a Bergenfield High School graduate who is furthering his/her education at a university, college, technical or vocational school, or other institute of higher learning. The scholarship is a one-time grant with payments made to the recipient, half at the beginning of the first semester and the remaining half at the beginning of the second semester. The criteria for eligibility are: 1. Applicant MUST be related to a Bergenfield High School alumnus (parent, aunt, cousin, grandparent, etc.) 2. The recipient cannot be the recipient of another community scholarship. 3. Applicants will be judged on need, ambition, personality and citizenship. 4. Applicants must be available for an interview, when requested. 5. Applications can be picked up in the Bergenfield High School Guidance Office. 6. Completed application and ESSAY must be handed in or it will not be accepted. Please submit by the deadline to: Attention: Alumni Scholarship -1-

5 BERGEN COUNTY GUIDANCE AWARD The Bergen County Counselors will offer a $ award for a graduating senior. Applicants should submit a letter. The scholarship will be awarded to a candidate who: a: is college bound and academically successful; b: demonstrates leadership and have been active within the school community; c: is a respected member of the community, and should possess a strong character and a great deal of integrity. All letters must be submitted to: Attention: Counselor Award -2-

6 BERGENFIELD LIONS CLUB ONE-YEAR $3,000 SCHOLARSHIPS There will be two grants of $3, each. These will be one-time grants. ELIGIBILITY: 1. A candidate must have service involvement in community and/or school activities. 2. All candidates, with the exception of children of members of the Bergenfield Lions Club, must reside in Bergenfield, New Jersey for at least two years. 3. A candidate must be a graduating senior of any public or private parochial high school, regardless of the school location. 4. A candidate cannot be a recipient of another local scholarship. 5. A candidate must be accepted for the fall term at an accredited four-year college or university. Applicants must submit a completed application along with a copy of your transcript of grades. NOTE: All questions must be fully answered. Applicants must be available for interview upon request of the Scholarship Committee. 7 Bergenfield High School Parent s Association Scholarship The Bergenfield High School Parent s Association is offering two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors who plan to continue their education after high school, and who have applied to attend college, vocational or trade school, or internship. Candidates must submit an essay addressing the following topic concerning their time at Bergenfield High School: What have you learned about yourself during your time at Bergenfield High School that helped you to choose your next step after high school? Tell about any teachers, classes, or other school experiences that have influenced you. The essay should be words in length. Complete the cover sheet and the application form, and attach both pages to your essay with a paper clip. Do not include your name on the application form or the essay page. Return your competed essay with the cover sheet and application form to the Bergenfield High School Guidance Office by the deadline date given in the scholarship booklet. -4-

8 BERGENFIELD P.B.A. LOCAL #309 CIVIC ASSOCIATION LT. DEL CHAMBERLAIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The Bergenfield P.B.A. Local #309 Civic Association will award a general scholarship in the amount of $1, to a Bergenfield graduating senior. CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY 1. Candidates must have resided in the Borough of Bergenfield for the past two (2) years. 2. Candidates must be accepted for the fall term at an accredited college or university. 3. Candidates must have a 3.0 average or better. 4. Candidates will be judged on citizenship, ambition, and need. 5. Candidates must appear for a personal interview, when requested. 6. Final decision shall be left to the discretion of the scholarship committee. 7. All Applications must be submitted to: Attention: P.B.A. Civic Association Scholarship 198 N. 9 CARL DELGADO SCHOLARSHIP SPANISH-AMERICAN CULTURAL ASSOCIATION OF BERGENFIELD, INC. 1. This scholarship will be open to any Bergenfield High School senior who has demonstrated outstanding achievement and interest in the study of Spanish language and culture throughout the four years of high school. 2. The Carl Delgado Scholarship is two $ awards which will be presented at the Senior Award Ceremony in June. 3. Applications will be available in the Guidance Office. 4. All applications must be returned to the Guidance Office on or before the due date. 5. Each application must be accompanied by a transcript, which includes the student's grade point average and rank in class. The application must also include a personal letter by the applicant stating his/her interest along with a letter of recommendation by a Spanish teacher. 10 Danny Glover Scholarship Fund The Bergenfield Little League will offer a 1,000 non-renewable scholarship to any graduate of Bergenfield Little League who played a minimum of three years on the Mino Major League level 1. The candidate must be graduating senior of any public or private High School, regardless 2. The candidate must be accepted for the fall term at a four-year college or university, a two year college, or a technical/vocational school. (Proceeds of scholarship will be made directly to the school). 3. The candidate will be available for an interview, if requested. 4. 11 Dr. Arthur Freiman Scholarship This $ scholarship will be awarded to a senior by the Board of Education, in honor of our Director of Pupil Personnel Dr. Arthur Freiman. Dr. Freiman has been working in Bergenfield for over 30 years. In 2013 he was presented with the New Jersey Special Education Administrator of the Year award. The scholarship will be chosen by the Guidance Department to a candidate who: A: Applicant must be accepted to an accredited two/four-year college/university, or has been accepted to a technical/vocational school leading to a certificate/degree B: Demonstrate leadership and have been active within the school & outside community C: Must have a 2.5 GPA -8-

12 DR. EDWARD CALLISON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The Dr. Edward Callison Memorial Scholarship will offer a $500 scholarship to a Bergenfield High School graduating senior. The scholarship will be awarded to a candidate who: a. Has attended Hoover School. b. Has been accepted to an accredited four-year college or university, a twoyear college, or a technical school. c. Has at least a B average and has a positive record of service to the school. Candidates must submit a two page report on, How did the time spent at Hoover School allow you to become the successful person you are today. 13 DUNKIN DONUTS SCHOLARSHIP The Bergenfield Dunkin Donuts will award a $500 scholarship this year to a Bergenfield High Graduating Senior. Applicants should submit a letter. The scholarship will be award to a candidate who: a. Recipient is college bound and academically successful b. Recipient should show financial need c. 14 EASTERN BERGEN COUNTY BOARD OF REALTORS SCHOLARSHIP The Eastern Bergen County Board of Realtors will offer a $700 scholarship to a Bergenfield High School graduating senior. Applicants should submit a letter. The scholarship will be awarded to a candidate who: a: recipient should show need b: recipient should be college bound and academically successful; c: recipient should have demonstrated leadership and have been active within the school community; d: recipient should be a respected member of the community, and should possess strong character and a great deal of integrity. 15 Ellen Buglino Memorial Scholarship for Mathematics Students A $250 scholarship will be awarded to a college-bound graduating senior in memory of Ellen Buglino, who taught sixth grade mathematics at Roy W. Brown Middle School. Scholarship applicants shall have studied four years of mathematics and maintained an average of at least 3.0. The criteria for this award includes: proficiency in mathematics and the desire to become a mathematics teacher or enter a field of mathematics. The scholarship recognizes students who have participated in extra curricula and/or community activities, who demonstrates commitment to academic excellence and who manifests integrity of character. REQUIREMENTS: 1. Four years of mathematics at Bergenfield High School. 2. A grade average of at least A letter of recommendation from a mathematics teacher. 4. A one page essay: Why mathematics interests you enough that you plan to major in this subject in college and perhaps enter a career involving mathematics. 16 ESL ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP An anonymous donor would like to offer a $350 scholarship to a Bergenfield High School graduating senior. Applicants must either be an ESL or ENA student, or be the first generation of their family to live in America. Student must: a) Be a senior accepted into or planning to attend a 4 year university. b) Write a 250 word supplement on the following topic: My experience integrating into a new society. In the supplement, students should demonstrate financial need. All letters must be submitted to: Guidance Department ESL Achievement Scholarship -13-

17 JOAN SWENSEN SCHOLARSHIP 1. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a senior at Bergenfield High School. 2. The candidate must have been physically challenged or have been diagnosed with a learning disability. 3. The candidate must have plans to further his/her education and/or training after graduation. 4. A candidate must have been a participant in the Bergenfield Special Education Program, the district Basic Skills Program or be physically challenged. 5. The final choice shall be left to the discretion of the Scholarship Committee. 6. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. 7. Application forms must be completed and returned to the Guidance Office on or before the due date. All information on the application will be kept strictly confidential. 18 JOE BUDA ALUMNI AMERICAN LEGION POST 90 The Joe Buda Alumni American Legion Post 90 will offer a scholarship in the amount of $1, to a Bergenfield High School graduate who is furthering his/her education at a university, college, technical or vocational school, or other institute of higher learning. The scholarship is a one-time grant with payments made to the recipient, half at the beginning of the first semester and the remaining half at the beginning of the second semester. 19 LORRAINE EISNER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR SCIENCE STUDENTS A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a college-bound graduating senior in memory of Lorraine Eisner, who taught chemistry at Bergenfield High School from 1967 to Scholarship applicants shall have studied at least three years of science and maintained an average of at least 3.0. The criteria for the award include proficiency in science, overall scholarship and an interest in world affairs. Mrs. Eisner emphasized that science has a key place in education, and also encouraged students to focus beyond the sciences. Therefore, the scholarship recognizes science students who express broader interests in society, concern for the environment and reasonable discourse in business and politics. REQUIREMENTS: a. At least three years of science at Bergenfield High School. b. A grade average of at least 3.0. c. A letter of recommendation from a science teacher. d. A one page essay: To what extent do you think learning science can help deal with the social, political, economic and environmental concerns facing our country? 20 Lynn Montanaro Scholarship This $1,000 scholarship has been awarded by the Board of Education, in honor of the years of dedication; in which Mrs. Montanaro served as a Secretary in the Guidance department. The student will be chosen by Mr. Fasano. REQUIREMENTS: A: Student has been accepted to an accredited 4-year college or university B: Student has participated in extracurricular activities within the school and community C: Must demonstrate leadership qualities and have overcome academic success by having a positive and strong work ethic attitude. D: Student must be in financial need. -17-

21 NVE BANK 76 ENGLE STREET ENGLEWOOD, NJ The NVE Bank would like to award a Bergenfield High School graduating senior a scholarship. The amount is to be determined. Criteria: 1. Scholastic aptitude with a B average of higher; 2. Show financial need; 3. Write an essay on your future plans and why you should receive this scholarship. 22 RENEE SORACCO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship has been established by the Bergenfield High School Parents Association in memory of Renee Soracco, a committed supporter and advocate for the Bergenfield schools. She served on the Executive Boards of the parents associations at Washington School, Roy W. Brown Middle School, and Bergenfield High School. The Bergenfield High School Parents Association is offering one $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior who plans to continue his or her education after high school, and who has applied to attend college, vocational or trade school, or an internship. This student must have a demonstrated record of community service within his or her school, church, community, or other group. Candidates must submit an essay addressing the following topic: How have your own experiences volunteering or engaging in community service enriched your life or influenced your future plans? Include examples of ways in which your community service has made your community a better place or has helped other individuals or groups. The essay should be words in length. Complete the cover sheet and the application form, and attach both pages to your essay with a paper clip. Do not include your name on the application form or the essay page. Return your completed essay with the cover sheet and application form to the Bergenfield High School Guidance Office by the deadline date given in the scholarship booklet. -19-

23 RICHARD ATWATER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS BERGENFIELD EDUCATION ASSOCIATION General Regulations Governing Faculty Scholarships: 1. There will be one scholarship available to any senior or graduating junior from Bergenfield High School 2. Application forms may be obtained from the Guidance Office. 3. Completed applications must be returned to the Guidance Office. 4. The Scholarship Committee will determine the recipient. 5. The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to review and revise its decision at any time prior to graduation. 6. The scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of a. Applicant MUST have a 3.0 CUMULATIVE average or better b. School citizenship c. Service to community d. Participation in extracurricular activities e. Need f. Short essay of answering the following questions: 1. Why do you deserve this scholarship? 2. How and why will this scholarship help you achieve your goals? 7. Colleges selected by recipients must be accredited. 8. Any member of the Bergenfield Education Association shall be eligible for membership on the Scholarship Committee. 9. The Bergenfield Education Association reserves the right to cancel or otherwise terminate any scholarship for due cause. Please submit by the deadline to: -20-

24 RITA M. FLORIO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR FUTURE TEACHERS To teach is to touch a life forever. The family of Mrs. Rita Florio has donated a $250 scholarship for a graduating student planning a career in teaching. Mrs. Florio was an aide at Bergenfield High School for more than twenty years. In that role she knew many young people and played a part in helping them grow and learn. Although she never realized her own goal of going to college and becoming a teacher, she was truly a gifted educator of her own children and the young men and women with whom she worked at BHS. The family of Rita M. Florio wishes to honor her memory and celebrate her life by helping graduates of BHS to become teachers. Rita M. Florio Memorial Scholarship Committee Ms. Claire Florio Simon (BHS 76), Dr. Vincent Florio (BHS=73) and Professor Susan Florio-Ruane (BHS 66) Criteria The candidate must be a graduating student in good standing at BHS. By the time of the award, the candidate must have been accepted at a four-year college or university and planning a career in teaching at any level (e.g. early childhood, elementary, secondary, higher education, special education, etc.). Application Process Application forms are available at the BHS Guidance Office. The application process includes: (1) filling out the application form, (2) obtaining a recommendation from one of your teachers, and (3) writing a letter of approximately 250 words, addressed to the Florio Family, explaining your reasons for wanting to become a teacher. The Florio Family will choose the winner of the scholarship. Materials should be submitted to the Scholarship Committee in the BHS Guidance by the due date. 25 ROSS W. MEDLAR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP For a Career in the Sciences This $2, scholarship has been established in memory of Ross W. Medlar, a beloved teacher, coach, assistant principal and principal at Bergenfield High School from As an educator he knew the importance of pursuing educational or training goals beyond high school. As a biology teacher he loved the sciences. His friends and family wish to honor his memory and celebrate his life by helping graduates of BHS pursue a career in the sciences, perhaps as a science teacher. CRITERIA The candidate must be a graduating student in good standing at BHS. By the time of the award, the candidate must be accepted at a four year college or university and is planning a career in the sciences. APPLICATION PROCESS Application forms are available at the BHS Guidance Office. The application process includes: 1. Filling out the application form. 2. Obtaining a recommendation from one of your teachers. 3. Writing a letter of approximately 250 words explaining your reasons for wanting to pursue a career in one of the many science disciplines. 26 THE CHARLES RICHARDSON ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME SCHOLARSHIP In memory of Charles Richardson, BHS 1959 graduate, a scholarship in the amount of $1, will be awarded to a senior athlete who has shown improvement, leadership, commitment and community involvement during his or her athletic career at Bergenfield High School. 27 THE EDWARD JACOBS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The Friends of Music will offer one $1,000 scholarships to Bergenfield High School graduating seniors. The scholarships will be awarded to candidates who: a. have been music students for four consecutive years either in Band, Orchestra or Choir, b. have been accepted to accredited colleges or universities, c. have at least a B average in all classes and have positive records in both the Music Department and the High School. d. students whose parents an active member of The Friends of Music program. e. student can t accede over $2,000 in awarded scholarships. Students interested in this scholarship must submit a double-spaced typewritten essay, of no more than 500 words on, "How the Music Program Has Enriched My High School Experience". Please include a separate piece of paper listing all the colleges you have been accepted to and where you think you will be going. PLEASE DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ON THE ESSAY. SUBMIT A COVER SHEET WITH YOUR NAME. YOUR ESSAY WILL BE SUBMITTED ANONYMOUSLY. ESSAYS WILL BE JUDGED ACCORDING TO CONTENT, GRAMMAR, SPELLING, AND SINCERITY. 28 The Hudson Shea Foundation Memorial Scholarship The Hudson Shea Foundation would like to offer 1 deserving senior a 1, scholarship. The aim of this scholarship is to recognize a senior that has had to overcome significant personal adversity in their lives (physical disability, learning disability, personal family tragedy etc.). This scholarship award serves to honor the resiliency and strength of the human spirit. About The Hudson Shea Foundation: Hudson Shea Yoskowitz was the son of Melissa and Adam Yoskowitz who passed away after his birth on May 26, Avid advocates of higher education, Melissa and Adam will never get to see the dreams they aspired for their son fulfilled. To honor Hudson s legacy, the Hudson Shea Foundation was established to raise awareness of newborn death and stillbirths as well as provide platforms for perinatal and bereavement counseling services. Furthermore, the launch of this annual scholarship will help to provide a deserving student with the opportunity to fulfill his/her own dreams of a college education. The following requirements must be met to be considered for this scholarship: Student must have an un-weighted GPA of 2.5 or higher Student must be planning to attend a four year college or university Student must be willing to interview with members of our committee. Student must provide a list of extracurricular activities and be able to demonstrate service to their school or community at large. Student must provide a list of schools they have applied to and where they have been accepted. Student must write between a word essay on the adversity they have had to overcome and why they are most deserving of this award. -25-

29 THE JOSEPH F. SUAREZ MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The Jefferson School Parents Association Scholarship will offer one $500 scholarship in memory of Joseph F. Suarez to a Bergenfield High School graduating senior. The scholarship will be awarded to a candidate who: 1. Has attended Jefferson School for at least three years and is a 2012 graduate from Bergenfield High School. 2. Has been accepted to an accredited four-year college or university, a two-year college, or a technical school. 3. Has a positive record of service to Bergenfield High School and/or the community. The candidate may only apply for one elementary school scholarship. Pick up an application in the guidance office. Candidates must submit an essay on one of the following topics concerning their years at Jefferson School: Write about a teacher who has made a difference in your life Write about an event that inspired you to set goals or helped you to succeed in your education. The essay must be a minimum of 500 words and include cover sheet provided. Your essay must have one-inch margins, half-inch indents, and be doubled-spaced. Use 12-point Times Roman or Arial font. Do not use Courier font. Please use White computer paper. Your name must only appear on the cover paper. Use a paperclip to attach the cover sheet to your essay; no staples. 30 THE LINCOLN SCHOOL PARENTS ASSOCIATION JOHN SUDOL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP DR. STEVE KAMINSKY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Lincoln School Parents Association will be offering two $1, scholarships. Candidates must submit an essay on one of the following topics: 1. How did the time spent at Lincoln School enrich your education and prepare you to succeed in your later school years? OR 1. A. Write about a Lincoln School teacher(s) or event(s) that made a difference and inspired you to set goals and helped you succeed in later school years? GUIDELINES: 1. Candidate clearly explains interest in the John Sudol Memorial Scholarship 2. Candidate gives good reason why he/she is deserving of this scholarship 3. Candidate clearly defines and sets career goals 4. Essay will have correct grammar and spelling. Candidates must apply by letter to: Attention: Lincoln School Parents' Association Scholarship -27-

31 THE MICHAEL D. BENARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship has been established in memory of Michael D. Benard, a beloved teacher of music and a director of Bergenfield High School Choirs from 1970 to Mr. Benard also assisted with numerous instrumental music classes and taught music theory, history and appreciation. Criteria The amount of the Scholarship will be $1, Basis of Award: A. Citizenship - (by providing a positive role model and by providing assistance in the musical growth of one s peers.) B. College - (accepted into a four- year college program majoring in music.) C. Music at Bergenfield High School - (a member of at least one performing organization for four consecutive years... or a member of the music theory/history class for four consecutive years.) D. Judging - (based on the performance of a solo of All-State caliber... or if a theory/history student, an original composition of significant length which demonstrates an advanced knowledge of the fundamentals of music. A taped performance of the composition is recommended, if possible.) Auditions will be held, or projects will be discussed, by appointment, during the second or third week of April. E. Interview - (all applicants must participate in an interview during the selection process.) F. Standards - (only students who meet the minimum standards of the judges will be considered for the scholarship.) (NOTE: Students who have participated in four years of choir should perform on voice; students who have participated in four years of band or orchestra should perform on their primary instruments; students who have participated in four years of theory/history may submit an original composition. These students must also be prepared to discuss their original composition, at length, with the selection panel. Students who have participated in more than one area for four years should choose one area only for purposes of this scholarship.) G. BROWER OPTIMIST SCHOLARSHIP TECHNICAL/VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP ONE YEAR SCHOLARSHIP FOR $1,000 The Bergenfield Optimist Club is offering one scholarship to a Bergenfield High School senior, male or female, who is pursuing a technical or vocational course leading to an associate degree, certificate or diploma but less than a baccalaureate degree. The course can be in a field such as: cosmetology, aviation mechanics, auto mechanics, electronics, air conditioning and refrigeration, drafting, graphic arts, computer training, etc. The amount of the scholarship is $1,000. To apply for the scholarship: a. Submit an application prior to deadline to: Bergenfield High School Guidance Department Attention: Raymond E. Brower Optimist Scholarship Committee b. Appear for a personal interview when requested by the Optimist Scholarship Committee. c. You must show a need for financial aid and a need for advanced technical training. -29-

33 THE ROSEMARY LA GAMMA SCHOLARSHIP The Franklin School Parents Association will offer a $1, scholarship to a Bergenfield High School graduating senior. The scholarship will be awarded to a candidate who: a. Attended Franklin School for at least two years b. Has been accepted to an accredited four-year college or university. c. Has at least a B average and a positive record of service to the school. d. How the Franklin School experience enriched their education and/or how Mrs. La Gamma or an event or a teacher influenced their later school years. Candidates must apply ANONYMOUSLY by typewritten letter, explaining how he/she has met the above criteria. 35 THE RULES GOVERNING THE WILLARD BURKART SCHOLARSHIP THE BERGENFIELD LODGE B.P.O.E The Bergenfield Lodge B.P.O.E will award a scholarship which will be open to any Bergenfield High School senior residing in Bergenfield. 2. A student must have at least a "B" average to be eligible and supply a copy of their Academic Summary. 3. Applicants shall be judged for personality, citizenship, ambition, and need. (Be original in stating need - give examples of your financial plans for your education). 4. Students desiring the scholarship shall apply by letter to the Scholarship Chairperson by the due date. Please include a telephone number. 5. All applicants shall be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee. 6. The Scholarship Committee shall meet with the faculty representatives before the final choice is made. 7. The final choice shall be left to the discretion of the Scholarship Committee. 8. The student's name shall be revealed on the date of presentation. 9. The amount of the scholarship will be $2, for 3 students. -32-

Has been accepted to an accredited four-year college or University, a two-year college, or a technical school. c. Has at least a 3.0 average and has a positive record of service to the school. d. FLORIO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Upon the passing of Vito Florio, owner of Dan s Deli for 40 years, the family established a memorial scholarship to honor his love of life, his love of people, and his love of music. For 40 years the students that passed through Bergenfield High School were privileged to have a neighborhood corner stone, a place that is part of Bergenfield hometown memories for many. Grace, humor and kindness personified, Vito, lives in the memories of the graduates of Bergenfield High School. Vito would be honored to help a Music student continue to pursue the study of music in college. Although his own college dreams were sidetracked by the Korean War draft, Vito went on to affect the lives of many people as a coach, a confidant, a mentor and a friend. CRITERIA The candidate must be a student set to graduate with a B+ average, and be accepted into a 2 or 4 year accredited college or university to major in the study of music or music education. The successful candidate should have 4 years of consecutive participation in orchestra, band or chorus. APPLICATION PROCESS Obtain an application for the Vito D. 39 TOM POWER ALUMNI AMERICAN LEGION POST 90 The Tom Power Alumni American Legion Post 90 will offer a scholarship in the amount of $1, to a Bergenfield High School graduate who is furthering his/her education at a university, college, technical or vocational school, or other institute of higher learning. The scholarship is a one-time grant with payments made to the recipient, half at the beginning of the first semester and the remaining half at the beginning of the second semester. The criteria for eligibility are: 1. The recipient cannot be the recipient of another community scholarship. 2. Applicants will be judged on need, ambition, personality and citizenship. 3. Applicants must be available for an interview, when requested. 4. Applications can be picked up in the Bergenfield High School Guidance Office. 5. 40 William Daniels Masonic Scholarship The 2015 William Daniels Masonic Scholarship is a one-time $2,000 scholarship award given to a Bergenfield High School senior. The student must have maintained a grade average of C+ or 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 over the last two completed years of high school. Considerations for the scholarship will be community service and financial need. The William Daniels Scholarship committee will review scholarship applicants provided by Bergenfield High School officials and teachers. Scholarship is available to all High School Seniors graduating in the Spring of 2015 that will be enrolling in the Fall 2015 as full time college freshman at a 4-year college or university. The scholarship is payable directly to the school for your undergraduate tuition upon receipt of the semester bill. -37-

41 The 2015 Young Professionals Scholarship The Young Professionals Group was established in 2000 and its first scholarship was awarded in To date, we have awarded over 50 scholarships. The Young Professionals Scholarship recipients are awarded a one-time $1,000 scholarship and lifetime access to the YPG Advisor Network. We seek to award young, promising students based on not only academics, but on character, demonstrated track-record of dedication to a particular occupational field, and their desire to make a positive impact to society. We provide not only monetary assistance, but also access to an extremely accomplished network of advisors (the YPG Advisor Network) who provide academic and career guidance and advice throughout college and beyond.
