1 Sample of Hardware Equipment Acceptance Form Acceptance Plan: (File Server) (Form P1) Server System Unit Item & Serial No. : Result : Pass / Fail Power-On Self (POST) to be conducted Power on the server and note the memory checking and other BIOS items being loaded during POST. Memory check should report no error during POST. Boot-up Power on the computer. The Windows Server 2012 R2 should start up. Users can log into the system and use the services provided by the server. CPU Speed Memory Size Open "Control Panel System General. Open "Control Panel System General. The CPU speed should match what has been purchased. The memory size should match with memory purchased. Hard Disk Boot up server. The hard disk should be detected. Its model number and ID should be displayed. RAID Run RAID utility program. The utility should show RAID 5 with 3 disks. Hard Disk Size Check Scandisk Shutdown And Reset Graphic Mode Workgroup Setting Computer Name Hard Disk Partitioning Anti-Virus System Date and time test Run "Computer Management - Disk Management" Run "CHKDSK" in "Command Prompt" for all partitions. Shutdown the server and do Boot-up again (both warm and cold boot). Make sure the resolution of the screen is 800x600 or above. Open "Control Panel System Computer Name and click Change. Open "Control Panel System Computer Name and click Change. Run "Administrative Tools - Computer Management Disk Management". Perform a manually scan on the whole system. Click the system clock on the taskbar. The hard disk size should match with the disk model purchased. No error reported. The server should be shut down normally and then can be restarted successfully. The screen under the resolution of 800x600 or above should be displayed correctly without distortion. The server is in a workgroup called WebSAMSGROUP. The computer name should be the default computer name assigned by the system or any other name but MUST not equal to the top level sub-domain name of the WebSAMS fully qualified domain name (FQDN) as long as WebSAMS 3.0 has not been installed. E.g. the top level sub-domain name is websams, if the FQDN is websams.abc.edu.hk ; or sams, if the FQDN is sams.abc.edu.hk. C drive has 200 GB; D drive has 200 GB and E drive has the remaining space. No virus is found. The date and time are correct.
2 Regional Option Open Control Panel Regional and Language Options. On Regional Options tab, the standards and formats should be Chinese (Hong Kong S.A.R.). On Advanced tab, the language for non-unicode programs should be Chinese (Hong Kong S.A.R.). DVD-Writer Item & Serial No. : Result : Pass / Fail Data Writing Data Reading to be conducted Insert a blank writable CD/DVD into the drive. Open the Windows explorer and copy some files to the X: drive (X: is drive letter of DVD writer drive). Finally, right click the X: drive icon and select burning the files into the CD/DVD. Reject the CD/DVD after burning process is completed and insert the same CD/DVD disc into the DVD writer again. In the Windows explorer, open the X: drive and check the files. A message will show that the burning process is done successfully. The files listed should be equal to those that have been copied into the X: drive for burning. Hard Disk Backup Device (NAS/DAS) Item & Serial No. : Result : Pass / Fail Hard disk storage size Data backup test Data restore test Image Backup Bare Metal Restore to be conducted Check physically the size of each hard disks in the hard disk backup device. Submit an immediate backup job to backup some files in your server to the hard disk backup device. Using the backup files above, submit an immediate restore job to restore the data from the hard disk backup device to the server Submit an immediate image backup job to back up the entire hard disk system in WebSAMS server with all partitions included. Shutdown the server and boot it up with the specific start-up media prepared or provided by the backup software. Restore the whole system from the system image that has been backed up in advance by following the instructions in the restore environment. The total physical size of all hard disks should be at least 2 TB. Files are successfully backed up as indicated by the backup software. Files is successfully restored as indicated in the restore log and is exactly the same as the source. System image is successfully backed up as indicated by the backup software. Message should indicate the restore process is completed successfully. Exit the restore environment and reboot the server again as usual with the specific start-up media taken out. After entering the operating system, it can be observed that the whole system should be exactly the same as the environment that has been backed up before.
3 Floppy Disk Drive (if available) Item : Result : Pass / Fail Disk Formatting File Copying to be conducted Format a blank floppy diskette. Copy a file from the hard disk to a floppy diskette. Use the FC command in DOS prompt to verify the correctness of the file on the floppy diskette. The indicator light of the drive should be on during the process. When it finishes, the indicator light should be off and the diskette should be formatted without bad sector. The file should be copied to the floppy diskette without problem. There should not be any difference reported between the two files. Monitors Item & Serial No. : Result : Pass / Fail Graphic Mode to be conducted Starting Windows. Change the setting for display to a resolution recommended by the manufacturer that matches the size of the screen. Please refer to the user guide of the monitors or consult your vendor. for the recommended resolution. Windows should show up without distortion. The testing screen should show up without distortion.
4 Acceptance Plan: (Desktop Computer) (Form P2) System Unit Item & Serial No. : Result : Pass / Fail to be conducted Power-On Self Power on the computer. Note the Memory check should report no error during POST. (POST) memory checking in POST. CPU Speed Run "System Information" The CPU speed should match what has purchased. Memory and Hard disk Size Enter the BIOS and inspect the memory and hard disk size reported. The reported memory size and hard disk capacity should match with the model purchased. Boot-up Power on the computer. The operating system should be loaded normally Scandisk Run "CHKDSK" in "Command Prompt" for all partitions. No error reported. Login for On-board Network card DHCP IP assignment test Log in a file server from the desktop computer with the network adapter and driver installed. Type ipconfig from DOS-Prompt The login should be successfully. An IP address in the DHCP assigned range should be displayed. CD-ROM Drive Item & Serial No. : Result : Pass / Fail Data Reading to be conducted Insert a data CD-ROM disc into the drive. Check the content of the CD-ROM by DIR X: ( X is the drive letter of CD-ROM Drive) A directory listing showing the content of the CD-ROM disc should be shown. 6 Acceptance Plan: (Peripheral) (Form P3) Printer Item & Serial No. : Result : Pass / Fail to be conducted Power-on Power on the printer Printer should be ready. Printing Self-test page Print Configure the printer to print self-test pattern Connect the printer to a computer. Run an application to print a document Self-test pattern should be printed. The document should be printed without error. Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Item & Serial No. : Result : Pass / Fail Power failure test Power resume Scheduled unattended shutdown and restart test to be conducted Pull out the power cord from AC main at the UPS which is connected to a server. Plug back the power cord from AC main to the UPS. Schedule an unattended shutdown and configure the restart to be a few minutes after the server and UPS are off from the power management software. An alarm should be on, an alert should be sent to the administrator and displayed at the server console. The Server will be shutdown normally and the UPS will be turned off after the server is shutdown. The UPS is started again and the server started normally. The server will be shutdown normally at the scheduled time the UPS will be turned off. The UPS will be restarted after the configured interval and the server will be started normally. The UPS status changed will be logged in both the standard server error log and the UPS power events log.
7 Acceptance Plan: (Network Equipment) (Form P4) Network Adapter and Ethernet Switches Item : Result : Pass / Fail Internet Surfing to be conducted Providing that the network adaptor has been installed and the machine (server or workstation) is connecting to an Ethernet switch which can access the Internet gateway, open the browser and surf any website. Successfully.

Memory and Hard disk Size CPU Speed Shutdown and Reset Enter the BIOS and inspect the memory and hard disk size reported. Check the CPU information during the POST or enter the BIOS to find the CPU information. Shutdown the server and do Boot-up again. Memory check should report no error during POST. The reported memory size and hard disk capacity should match with the model purchased. The CPU speed should match what has purchased. The server should be shutdown normally and then can be restarted successfully CD-ROM/DVD-ROM Drive Item : Result : Pass / Fail Load Disc to be conducted Press Load/Eject button. After the tray slide out, put in a disc and press Load/Eject button again. A disc can be loaded successfully. Upon completion of installation and function tests, the system will be subjected to reliability
9 test. In this test, the system will be operated for 4 consecutive weeks to determine whether the system can achieve in each of the said weeks a minimum performance level. A minimum performance level is said to be achieved if the number of fault calls during this period of 4 consecutive weeks does not exceed 3 calls, and the total system downtime does not exceed 10 hours within the same period.
