3 Target Merchants Knowing the Basics Successful sales in the petroleum industry begin with understanding the difference between branded and unbranded prospects so that ideal candidates can be quickly identified. Branded convenience stores means that the owner has contracted with one of the major oil brands, such as ExxonMobil, BP Amoco,Texaco, Chevron, etc. or, that the store is corporately owned and operated by the brand itself. Branded stores must accept the card brand of which they are affiliated, and their processing equipment is proprietary to the major brand itself. While an ISO may be able to place a stand-alone terminal inside the store for in-store purchases, these merchants are not traditionally where you want to spend your time and efforts due to their contractual obligations. Unbranded convenience stores, independent stores that are not affiliated with a major oil company or brand, are ideal prospects for NPC s petroleum product. Unbranded convenience stores are not contractually bound to limitations that the oil brands may enforce, thus, they are able to conduct business with vendors of their choice, including purchasing fuel from independent sources and choosing their own credit card processing partner. Essentially, unbranded stores have the ability to operate their business as they see fit, shopping for their own service providers. Stronger profit margins are attainable for these reasons. 3

Voyager stands out because it provides control at the card level and account level, allowing fleet administrators to customize every card. Within a single account, the Fleet Card can be assigned to individual drivers, vehicles or entire organizations. 20 WEX Set up Wright Express Merchant Charge Card Agreement Application including signature and date. Merchant must attach a voided check or a copy of a voided check. The MAG generated voided check will not work. Verify the merchant is processing on Buypass and write the appropriate terminal ids in the spaces provided in the lower area of the form. If the merchant has more than one location, they must also fill out a Fuel Merchant (Add) Site Form for each additional location.
