5 A New Role: The Bank of User Data (BUD) The User originates a digital footprint as the result (explicitly or implicitly) of local and in-network actions performed by its devices and/or personal smart objects There is the need to Protect the information of a customer/citizen Enforce the Right of Copy Capitalize (leverage and monetize) the information according to the willingness to risk of the user (and 2 way contracts) To move towards user centric identity The First Amendment of this approach is: DATA pertain to the People Telecom Italia/Future Centre C. 6 Personal (Big) Data Most Internet companies are Big Data centric Telcos have data, but have much more regulation People have issue with 3 rd Party usage of their own data Right to have copy of data is a rising wave Limited involvement and awareness of individuals in valorizing Personal Data Privacy and Service Value is always a trade-off WEF report says: Personal Data is the new currency for digital economy Telcos can help people to balance protection and exploitation of their Personal Data People have to protect and take advantage of their Personal Data according to their needs and wills Telecom Italia - All rights reserved 6 6
