Smarter Balanced ELA and Math in Grades 3-8 and High School All students in grades 3 8 and 11 must take the Smarter Balanced ELA and Math Assessments. Students are automatically identified by OSPI for testing based on grade level. Information on how to identify students testing Off Grade Level in Smarter Balanced ELA and/or Math is detailed in the Online Administrations section. MSP Science All students in grades 5 and 8 must take the MSP Science test. Students are automatically identified for testing based on grade level. HSPE Reading and Writing All students in grades 11 and 12 are automatically identified as needing the reading HSPE if they have not met standard in that subject. All students in grades 11 and 12 are automatically identified as needing the writing HSPE if they have not met standard in that subject. End-Of-Course Mathematics and Biology Students in the Class of 2019 and beyond must pass the Smarter Balanced High School math test, not a math EOC, in order to meet the math assessment graduation requirement. Therefore, those students are no longer permitted to be registered for math EOCs. Effective this school year, math EOC exams will be available only to students in the Classes of who have not yet met standard on a math EOC exam. Students may be registered to take, as appropriate, either or both year 1 and year 2 exams, until they meet standard on one of the exams. Default Pre IDs for EOC Math: Students in the classes of 2018 and earlier enrolled in Algebra, Geometry, Integrated Math 1, or Integrated Math 2 that have not met the math assessment graduation requirement are defaulted into the subject of the class in which they are enrolled. Students in grades 10, 11, and 12 - Any student who has not yet met standard on any math exam will be pre ID for the Algebra exam. If it is felt a different test is more appropriate for certain students, the update must be made in WAMS. 4

Students who took and did not meet standard in Spring Any student who attempted an EOC 1 or EOC 2 exam and did not meet standard will be pre ID for the same exam if that student has not yet met the math assessment graduation requirement. If it is felt a different test is more appropriate for certain students, the update must be made in WAMS. Students in the class of 2019 and beyond - Not allowed to test in EOC Math. Tests returned for these students will be flagged as Off Grade OG and test scores will not be reported Default Pre IDs for EOC Biology: Any student with a graduation requirement year of 2015 or later currently enrolled in biology who has not met standard on the EOC biology exam Any student with a graduation requirement year of 2015 or later who attempted the EOC Biology exam in spring 2014 and did not meet standard will be pre ID for the EOC Biology exam in winter. Students in grades 10, 11 and 12 with a Graduation Requirement Year of 2015 or later will be pre ID ed for the EOC Biology exam in winter, if they have not yet met standard in Biology, regardless of having tested in Spring of 2014 State Course Codes Table State Course Codes used to pre-id students in courses Algebra or Integrated Geometry or Integrated Biology

Online Administrations: Pre ID for Smarter ELA and Math and Science MSP assessments will occur automatically by OSPI based on enrollment in CEDARS. Any students that are currently enrolled in CEDARS in grades 3 8, 10, or 11 will be loaded to the Test Information Distribution Engine () and will be eligible to take the Smarter Math or ELA assessment. Students in grades 5 or 8 will also be pre ID by OSPI to take the MSP Science. OSPI will perform nightly uploads from CEDARS into. Student lists in will be updated daily based on most current CEDARS enrollment data. A list of students loaded to each night, along with their HSPE and EOC testing assignments can be found in WAMS under Pre ID > Smarter Balanced Pre ID. The complete list of students can also be extracted from. However, testing assignments are not included in the extract. Students taking the Off Grade ELA or Math assessment will be individually identified by the DC, DA, or SC within. Students should be updated no later than one day prior to testing. To update eligibility for Off Grade ELA or Math assessments, you must find the student in using the View/Edit Students screen. You will need to open the student s record by clicking the View button. This will take you to the View Student Details page, where you will locate the Off Grade Testing section and identify the grade level the student is eligible to test in. At this time the system only supports individual entries (one student at a time). Instructions on how to find students in are available within the User Guide, located in the resources section of the WA Portal site: Accommodations and designated supports for online assessments must be assigned in. Accommodations are assigned to individual students through the View Student Details page or uploaded for multiple students one at a time using the Upload Student Settings tab. See the User Guide on the WA Portal site for more guidance on uploading student supports. Table 1 on the following page shows a list of all online administrations including what action needs to be taken at the district and/or school level to pre ID students and where that action needs to be taken. 6

No student pre ID ink jetted paper testing materials are available for the Spring 2015 administration. Student Pre ID Adhesive Labels will accompany test booklets. Paper Testing Materials for New and Moved Students Unlike previous years, there will be no secondary print run to provide pre ID ed materials for students who are new to districts or move between schools. 10 *A full list of Tools, Supports, and Accommodations are available at: **For federal accountability students should also be assessed in grade 10 with the biology EOC and grade 11 with the ELA and math assessments. Other Information: Student Record Fringe Cases Student records can only enter from data submitted and accepted to CEDARS. The file of students being sent from CEDARS to is drawn from two populations: 1. Students in grades 3 12 with current district student enrollment records by SSID (removing duplicates) a. In instance of dual enrollment, the record identified as primary in Element C10 (IsPrimarySchool) is sent to. b. In instance of dual primary enrollment neither record is sent to. Instead, both records are set aside for resolution as either shared SSID or to resolve multiple primary records across district 2. Students in grades 3 12 for whom an SSID is requested through screen entry or bulk upload c. When the SSID exists in CEDARS and the enrollment record is for the current year, an SSID request that includes school code and grade level moves the student in to the new site. d. When the SSID exists but the student is not enrolled in CEDARS, an SSID request that includes school code and grade level creates new record in at the new site. e. When the student has no SSID, an SSID request that includes school code and grade level creates new record in. It will be necessary for District Assessment Coordinators to collaborate with CEDARS District Administrators to manage any enrollment conflicts and facilitate SSID requests to create records in for non enrolled students that will participate in assessments. The SSID request transmits CEDARS data to in near real time and is intended to cover the needs of districts testing any non enrolled students (e.g. students testing for grad requirements but not actively enrolled; private or home schooled students testing at a public school). Other Information: Registration of Online School Programs to Test at an Alternate Site Online School Program Coordinators are responsible for registering students to be assessed at a district other than the student s primary district. Refer to Table 3 on the following page. 10

11

TABLE 3 Other Important Registrations window Location Required Action Online school programs testing at alternate sites Non Enrolled students needing tests. Review Students with Dual Enrollment open now through March 8 (Begins February 27, 2015; open through close of Summative Assessment window) WAMS > Pre ID > Pre Registration of Online School Program Students CEDARS >SSID Ongoing WAMS > Pre ID > Smarter Balanced Pre ID Online school program coordinators are responsible for registering students to be assessed at a district other than their primary district. Non enrolled students who need to participate in testing (e.g. create a record in for online testing or generate a pre ID label from for paper tests) must have an SSID 'requested' through CEDARS. Review student enrollment to ensure any student with conflicting primary enrollment across districts are resolved by having one of the districts report to CEDARS as non primary. If conflict is due to a shared SSID, work with CEDARS admin and OSPI Customer Support to resolve the issue 12
