3 April 11 th 1:00 PM 1:50 PM TITLE PRESENTER/S DESCRIPTION CLEAN_Address Vendor Real-time address verification, telephone, name, and checking are integral parts of improving data quality and communication. With CLEAN_Address, address verification is now an easy, low-cost solution to implement for institutions using Banner. Attendees will learn the basics of address verification, including the data products available from the USPS, Canada Post, and internationally. There will also be live functional demos showing the seamless integration in Banner Forms (INB), Web self-service applications (SSB), Advance, and batch processing. CLEAN_Address supports seamless address verification; telephone checking, name standardization, and address validation. The session will also cover the technical aspects of the architecture and implementation. Total Compensation Package Introduction to the Commons Digital Campus Academy April 11 th HR 2:00 PM 3:50 PM Compensation Letters: How one school responded to the request by their administration for a comprehensive "total package" statement for their employees. Combining standard technologies and a survey of best practices from other schools, the result was an easy to understand reflection of wages and benefits, along with a list of current non-cash benefits available for employees to choose from. The Digital Campus Academy is Datatel+SGHE s Web-Based Training Subscription Service, a self-paced, asynchronous training solution. Since it is self-paced, it is ideal for busy administrative users who need to balance their current job responsibilities with functional and system training. A comprehensive, online resource, the Digital Campus Academy supports just-in-time training and guidance on how to complete primary business processes within Banner. The Digital Campus Academy is ideal for getting new staff up to speed quickly on your systems and software. And because Datatel+SGHE is responsible for updating content as new product releases are scheduled you can be sure your staff is always up-to-date. In this demo, you will get a first-hand look at this training offering and learn more about how the curriculum is organized, what an interactive lesson, complete with content and hands-on practice, looks like, and how assessments are used to support learning. SurveyDig Vendor Using a Web-based online course evaluation system can be a very effective way to streamline the course evaluation process. This also leads to more detailed feedback from students, more flexibility in taking the evaluations, and anonymity when providing candid feedback about a course or instructor. This presentation will explore an online course and instructor evaluation system - SurveyDIG - from Runner Technologies. SurveyDIG allows institutions to replace their paper based or homegrown course evaluation process with this Banner integrated, Web-based solution. SurveyDIG has a pre-built integration for SunGard HE Banner, allowing dynamic changes in Banner to automatically appear in SurveyDIG. The survey management system is also flexible

We will also explore ways to improve survey response rates with several proven techniques and best practices from other institutions. SHSU chose to implement Banner Fixed Assets including depreciation. This session will present an overview of the process as well as lessons learned. This session will illustrate how Banner Relationship Management greatly improved the efficiency and effectiveness of the communication processes with prospects and applicants at The University of Texas Pan- American. It also covers how BRM has provided a centralized and organized way of handling communications as well as sending dynamic and aesthetic, yet small size interactions. In addition, it will demonstrate the benefits of prospect tracking form their prospective level through their enrollment phase. Justin Greiner will be presenting about the Hazlewood Exemption s eligibility requirements, applications, school processes, and the new Hazlewood database report that will first be due fall He will answer any questions or concerns that the audience may have about the program. This session will present the basic concepts of Object- Oriented Programming (OOP) for technical attendees with little or no OOP experience. It will cover the concept definitions and tie them to an actual OOP application using Groovy/Grails. In addition, links will be provided for those who wish to explore OOP further. At TAMU, we have developed a tool that allows us to quickly develop admission reports. The tool links tape load layouts to standardized queries. Thus, by simply creating a tape load layout, the report developer can define and populate a report. The report developer only has to provide to the tool a report population. HR Heads Up HR What s being developed in 2012 a session on RTEs that have been developed in the past year, are currently in development and what s going to be developed. A look at set up, requirements and what these enhancements mean. Hazlewood How-To Session with Banner and TCC Mods April 12 th Voting Members: Expectations & Responsibilities FinAid/Student 8:00 AM 8:50 AM Executive Board This session is intended to provide an overview as well as indepth training on the TCC Banner Student enhancement which enables creation of the Hazlewood Exemption Veteran Hours report. Included is a review of each block contained in the Hazlewood rule form and in the Hazlewood data maintenance form. Also provided is a TCC delivered process to copy Veteran data from one term forward to a future term. This session is intended for any and all personnel involved in the processing of military and veteran personnel in addition to the state Hazlewood Exemption report. Financial Aid BOF FinAid An informal time of discussion for Banner users from different institutions to exchange information and ask questions. Questions and topic suggestions from the attendees are encouraged. Questions and topic suggestions from the attendees are encouraged. Banner Mass Data Update Utility (MDUU) what is it and what can it do for me? April 12 th Strategic Plan Review SFA Financial Aid and Accounts Receivable Processes 9:00 AM 9:50 AM Executive Board FinAid/ A/R This session will define Banner s MDUU and demonstrate how it can be used. MDUU is a business tool that institutions can use to quickly and easily develop batch updating processes. MDUU allows institutions to create their own rules that can be used to update and insert data for circumstances that are not part of the current Banner functionality via a consistent, flexible and customizable processing capability that is metadata driven. This session will cover SFA s online Short-Term Loan and Book Loan processes, which verify applicants qualifications and sets payments in Banner. It will also include an automated notification to students for Alternative Loan Check Pickup; setting PayPal payments in Banner from the Common Application; and, sending student credit amounts to our on-campus Barnes & Noble Bookstore and processing charges back to Banner. DegreeWorks Demo Vendor DegreeWorks provides user-friendly, web-based academic advising and degree audit services to assist students and their advisors as they negotiate your institution s curriculum requirements. DegreeWorks available as an integrated addon to Banner can help students spend less time deciphering degree requirements and more time pursuing their academic goals. Academic planning tools and real-time counseling capabilities can help advisors provide consistent and meaningful direction to students, while the aggregated data DegreeWorks captures provides administrators with important metrics for planning academic programs and understanding emerging enrollment trends. An EPAF Story (from SFA) Banner 9 Extensibility Framework Preview HR THECB Addresses Student Topics from Institutions April 12 th 10:00 AM 11:30 AM Voting Member BOF Web Module for Managing Bacterial Executive Board Vendor This session will provide an overview of SFAs experiences implementing and managing EPAFs. Discussion will include lessons learned, processes SFA has implemented to make EPAF better, and things we wish worked differently (RPEs). What is Banner 9 Extensibility and how does it differ from Banner 8 Extensibility? This technical session will address this as well as pre-reqs, the concept of non-invasive extensibility, code modifications, and a sample code walkthrough Doug Parker will discuss the data processing schedule, any upcoming reporting changes, lessons learned from the CBM00S, and tips for reviewing your data for certification.

6 Meningitis Workflow at SFA This session will describe SFA s workflow implementation and overview of the process at SFA, followed by specific workflow examples that are in production at SFA. Additionally, the SFA-developed Business Analyst Handbook and Workflow Workbook will be covered. Automated Student- Centric Awarding Verifying/Balancing data for CB Reports Solutions to Support Student Retention and Success April 12 th SharePoint: Making Processes Efficient FinAid Student Student 1:00 PM 1:50 PM With lower fund pools it is imperative we steward our programs in the best possible manner to help the students. Algorithmic packaging, fund categories and targeted packaging groups have allowed us to automate student awards year-round while providing student specific award packages. This session will present our year- round packaging and how this concept provides value to our students. Your THECB report edits have come back showing you are in balance and error free. But does that mean they are right? This session will show some processes I use to balance the census reports and the new end of term reports. I will also cover some of the processes I use to verify that the data being pulled matches what is in the system. With increasing pressure on institutions to demonstrate accountability, this presentation will provide an overview of solutions from Datatel+SGHE that can help institutions support strategic initiatives and tactical plans to improve student retention and success at multiple levels. You will learn how Course Signals can help improve students success in their individual classes, and how Banner Relationship Management can help you build relationships with students with highly personalized and targeted communications, as well as proactively identify at-risk students with the new Early Alerts feature. In addition you will learn how DegreeWorks can help improve advising and keep students on track to graduation, and how Banner Student Retention Performance scorecards, dashboards, trend and summary reports and ad-hoc reporting capabilities can help you analyze student progress and engagement by multiple dimensions to determine the effectiveness of your student retention and success programs and initiatives. Overview of the practical application of MS SharePoint software as an efficiency measure for meeting the campus processing and communication needs involving the Office of the Registrar. Utilized as an emergency measure to assist with the processing requirements associated with the implementation of Banner, the Texas Tech University Office of the Registrar has evolved the use of the software to streamline multiple processes, organize workflows, and plans to expand use of the software to meet additional campus needs. Argos Case Studies and Examples by Evisions Vendor Argos, the Enterprise Reporting Solution from Evisions, has helped hundreds of Banner sites solve reporting and information access challenges. This session will go through examples from letter generation and basic reporting to data cubes and dashboards. Using client examples you will see how Argos can help you go beyond basic reporting and get access to the information you need quickly and easily. Performance Based Strategic Many states, including Texas, have enacted or are considering legislation that ties higher education funding to

7 Funding: Are You Ready? outcomes focused on student retention, graduation rates, as well as other measures of student achievement. This presentation will provide an overview of performance-based funding, including a comparison of some details of the legislation in several states, and the details of the legislation in Texas will be discussed. Guidance will be offered on how colleges and universities need to prepare to comply with the performance-based funding mandate and receive the maximum funding based on specific performance measures. Mr. Shelton will provide a high level overview of the Texas Records Exchange (TREx) system used to transfer student records between Texas school districts and student transcripts from high schools to institutions of higher education. The presentation will focus on the transcript information passed from the high school via TREx to the UT SPEEDE server. April 12 th 2:00 PM 2:50 PM TouchNet Vendor Are you handling third-party contract billing and payments using paper-intensive procedures and manual workarounds? BEIS and CAS for Single Sign-On TRAQS Reporting Review and Upcoming Initiatives HR SHSU implemented account provisioning and true single sign-on using custom triggers, BEIS, CAS, and a little ingenuity. Join us to see the process that we undertook, what custom development was created, and what lessons we learned. This session will cover a review of reporting changes in the school year as well as upcoming changes for the year. Topics will include: -- The reporting of available work days and how to make corrections; --Procedures for bringing a Regular Payroll Report to Complete when it contains RP10 payroll records with zero days available; --The affects of the standardized school year on earning service credit and retirement calculation --How to correct Errors on the Member Data and Regular Payroll Reports; --Relationship between the Employment of Retired Members Report to the Surcharge Reports; --New definition of half-time for employment after retirement Figuring Out the FAD FinAid A detailed review of how the FAD program works. We will look at parameter options and assumptions about data set up. Automating Banner Admissions Admissions/Student This session will highlight several admissions processes that have been automated by SFA including mass uploading

8 Adopting the Banner 9 Technologies for Local Development Work April 12 th Degree Works Overview Vendor Session Clean Address and SurveyDIG A Client s Perspective Tools of the Trade: Oracle SQL Developer 3:30 PM 4:30 PM of recruit records, checking admission status in SSB, automatically setting advising holds at time of admission, TRex, and accepting and reconciling admissions fees via PayPal and the Common Application. A discussion centered on the adoption of Banner 8 technologies by Texas Tech. We will present a listing of the tools we are adopting and how they fit into our development cycle. Vendor An Introduction to DegreeWorks. This session will provide an overview of the key features of DegreeWorks, including the student planner, the academic audit, the financial aid audit, the athletic audit, and the curriculum planning assistant. A discussion will include how the product can be used to better manage student progress, planning, and tracking toward key metrics that relate to the recent Texas legislation regarding funding based upon student outcomes. This session will demonstrate SFA s implementation of both products from Runner Technologies. This session will demonstrate common functions of the SQL Developer software package available to Oracle database users. SQL Queries, testing of procedures and functions, database table layouts, and other common uses will be exhibited, in addition to its use in TCC development. This session will hopefully enlighten even non-technical users in some simple tools that can give easier access and understanding of database elements. UTEP Presents TREx Admissions Student This session will cover how University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) integrated TREx TCC modules as well as the IPP portal to process high school transcripts through automatic upload into Banner, including technical fixes to customize transcript data for departmental internal processing. We will also discuss the functional aspect and the TREx implementation with the Office of Admissions and Recruitment and how it improved processing time and the ability to admit students faster. Lastly, we will discuss lessons learned and troubleshooting tips. HR Working Session HR Functional folks working together to define upcoming RTE s. April 13 th 9:00 AM 9:50 AM CSI: How it works and using it for the TCC Talent Management Demo Vendor A discussion of CSI and how it works. We will go from submission to baseline with those that have been involved in the process. Rich Barnhart, "The Submitter", Dale Ganus, "Functional Committee Review" and Jeff Hagins, " Review Committee". We will then discuss how we can get involved as the TCC to get submission to Baseline for the overall product or TCC Modifications. 9 Finance Working Session Online Graduation Application Finance Student you prepare for the future. The components of the application are integrated. Functionality has been and is developed organically. Components of the system Learning Management, Performance Management, and Succession Planning are on the same code, technology and database, leading to such integration and a system that is easier to use. For example, goals can be included in performance reviews to allow users to be evaluated on both their effectiveness in their positions and their achievement on strategic initiatives. Making Lemonade from Apples and Oranges April 13 th Cognos Reports for Budget Management Student/Data 10:00 AM 10:50 AM Finance Texas State University facilitates a discussion on how to blend the effects of multiple systems feeding each other. Topics include different phone number edits including poor data entry, common matching strategies, and dealing with systems from different vendors that have different data edits. Solved any of these issues? Come share how you did it! Coming from a highly customized legacy system to Banner, the SHSU campus wanted a better, easier way to track their budgets. The Reporting Team listened to these requests and combined best practices from public and private institutions to develop a series of integrated Cognos reports to meet our campus need. This session will present an overview of the process, lessons learned, and our next steps. Course Signals Demo Vendor Course Signals is built on a powerful predictive model developed by Purdue University s John Campbell, Ph.D. and now associate vice president at The Rosen Center for Advanced Computing. Launched at Purdue as a pilot program in 2007, the software has been tremendously successful and today helps almost 6,000 Purdue students every semester to stay on course. Course Signals predictive model draws on multiple data sources to create a more complete picture of a student's academic performance. Datatel+SGHE has built on Purdue University s work to create a next-generation application architected to work with a variety of course management and student information systems, as well as to display signals within SunGard Higher Education s degree audit solution, DegreeWorks. The risk model, personalized to meet your institution s needs, can use many demographic and other Banner data elements to flag at-risk students. This data, coupled with CMS gradebook data, prior academic performance data, and CMS effort data produce an overall risk score. The resulting signal displays as an intuitive red, yellow, or green stoplight, appearing in the course home page within the CMS. The student also receives advice from the faculty (sent

This session will present best practices; building custom SSB pages that fetch information from or update Banner; building SSB custom tabs; establishing custom SSB roles; building deep links to SSB in Luminis, using an array as an input parameter in SSB; and, using a dynamic parameter list instead of hard coded input parameters. These examples will be using the old SSB user interface. The focus of this session is to perform a development retrospective on the changes made to the CBM reports in 2011 and to analyze specific reports to understand where if any we still have gaps in processing that prevent some schools from using all or part of the reports. The goal to identify a comprehensive set of changes that can be made so that the reports can be utilized as-is by as many schools as possible and to reduce or eliminate further manual processing in order to report per state requirements. ERS Discussion HR Discussion of Reports and interface files used by ERS to communicate benefits enrollments and changes with Higher Education institutions. Session is intended for Payroll and IS team members. Presenters will detail the reports available, content of each, and how ERS uses the information. Presenter will review changes during the last year and present any possible changes in the upcoming year.
