You work with a diverse range of clients gaining a broad knowledge in a variety of industries. Senior You have more responsibility and the opportunity to pass on the knowledge you have gained to date to the trainees while continuously learning from other more experienced senior staff members. Practice Industry Senior You have the opportunity to work towards becoming an assistant manager, leading a team and taking on responsibility for your team s development. You work with an extensive portfolio of clients, interacting and dealing with client issues. Manager You manage a portfolio of clients and actively engage with those clients on a day to day basis. 8 Crowe Horwath offered me a huge level of support from day one. Initially I applied to Crowe Horwath because it was a medium-sized firm with a global presence. I felt it would offer me day to day guidance and I would have the opportunity to work for clients operating in a wide range of industry sectors. I commenced my training contract in the Corporate Finance department and have since rotated to the Audit department. Crowe Horwath offered me a huge level of support from day one. There are all sorts of internal training programs designed to develop your technical expertise, but it is the hands-on experience and daily support that I find invaluable. Working alongside Partners and Senior Management provides you with a great learning platform and the ability to perform tasks to a high standard. I was pleasantly surprised by how approachable and helpful they are and have learned so much from their wealth of knowledge. It is without doubt what I have valued most since starting my training with Crowe Horwath. Once you qualify, the prospects are endless. 9 Crowe Horwath demands a strong work ethic, but allows the freedom to engage in an array of sporting interests. I play Hurling, Football and Golf as well as a (semi competitive!) Tag Rugby league with my work colleagues. There is a strong social impetus amongst staff and a range of events that are organised by the Social Committee from a night at the dogs to table quizzes. As a proactive and outgoing individual, it was important for me to work in a company with a positive social culture, and Crowe Horwath certainly provides that. Crowe Horwath s rotation policy is one of its defining attributes and it was the critical variable in my decision to choose this firm. As an Audit trainee, I learn about different industries and how they operate both in the short and long term. I have also worked in the Film Finance Department which gave me a more comprehensive knowledge of tax planning schemes and their mechanisms and within my training contract I will also get the opportunity to gain experience in another service area. 10 I chose Crowe Horwath because it is a medium-size firm and I felt it would offer me more hands-on experience in a variety of industry sectors compared to other firms. When I joined Crowe Horwath I began my training contract in the Audit department. One of the great benefits of working at Crowe Horwath is the chance to rotate to different departments and gain experience in the various service areas. During my training contract I worked in both the Audit and Corporate Finance departments. For me, the rotations gave me an insight into different aspects of accounting and finance and also meant that the range of experience which I gained was diverse which is invaluable as you progress in your career. The greatest aspect of my training contract was the experience that I gained from working directly with the Partners and Senior Management and the camaraderie with my colleagues. I was an Audit senior on completion of my training contract and was lucky enough to get the opportunity to join the Corporate Finance department where I am now an Assistant Manager. 11 I was initially attracted to Crowe Horwath s strong reputation in the accounting industry. After reading about the graduate programme offered by Crowe Horwath I knew it was for me. Crowe Horwath s graduate programme differs from others in that it gives you the chance to rotate between departments. This appealed to me as when leaving college I was not sure which department I wanted to work in and I liked the prospect of the diversity of the training experience on offer. Now after rotating to a few different departments the varied experience has greatly improved my knowledge and development. The work in the firm is challenging but rewarding. As you progress through your training contract, you are given more responsibility and, with the training provided by the firm, you have the confidence to take on these challenges. There is also great exposure to clients across numerous sectors and industries including media and entertainment, manufacturing, legal, hotel and leisure and many more. There is a great working atmosphere in the firm with people always available to give you the help and support needed. 12 I was attracted to Crowe Horwath because of the range of sectors within the firm and the hands-on experience with Managers, Directors and Partners. Being able to rotate to different departments in the firm provides me with an all-round experience and knowledge. Within the firm everyone is very welcoming and makes an effort to get to know you. On commencement of our training contract all graduates undertook an induction course. This course gives you the basics in bookkeeping, auditing and taxation, but it also allowed our intake to get to know each other as a group. Multiple social events are set up throughout the year which helped introduce us to all our fellow colleagues in the different departments in the firm. You are given responsibility from the start however Managers and more experienced trainees offer great support at all times during the training process. 13 When I began the process of applying for interviews back in college there were a number of things that initially attracted me to Crowe Horwath. The first was that it was a medium-sized firm attached to a global name. This appealed to me as I felt I would be able to gain a lot of hands-on experience in a variety of industries and sectors in a firm that was not too big or impersonal. However, the most appealing thing for me was that Crowe Horwath offered trainees the chance to rotate between departments during their training contract. This provided a massive incentive for someone like me who was torn between which area to specialise in. From day one I have been happy with my choice of firm. The firm provides a great platform for you to learn, offering responsibility from an early stage. One of the great benefits of Crowe Horwath is that it provides graduates with the chance to work closely with both partners and management. In Crowe Horwath the partners are extremely hands-on and this provides graduates with a great chance to learn from their expertise. At Crowe Horwath there is a fantastic atmosphere around the office. There is a great rapport among the trainees but the senior members of staff are always there to offer guidance and support. It provides a personal feel and makes it a very enjoyable place to work.
