5 What is Green Cooling? Aiming at a reduction of emissions from the cooling sectors, the Green Cooling Initiative combines three approaches: promoting natural refrigerants, maximising energy efficiency, fostering sustainable consumption. Green cooling helps to protect the environment, resources and the climate. Equipment with both maximised energy efficiency and natural refrigerants, which is therefore minimising its environmental impact, is here termed green cooling technologies. Seite 5

7 Purpose/ Objective of the Green Cooling Initiative & its network The Green Cooling Initiative (GCI) recognises that exchange between technology suppliers and users, as well as between the industry, public institutions and civil society is important for the promotion of green cooling. The aim of GCI is to establish a global Green Cooling Network, which will accelerate environmentally friendly technologies cooperation, support sustainable green cooling policies & behaviour in the refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) sectors with and within developing countries. To mobilize technology providers and investors for participation in sector networks and joint initiatives with developing & emerging countries to support private sector investments in green cooling in developing and emerging countries Seite 7
