1 Build a Better Workplace: Employee Engagement Edition
2 Employee engagement, that willingness of each employee to strive to do their best work on a daily basis, has become the leading indicator of performance and competitiveness across all organizations. Employee engagement is how each individual employee connects (emotionally and intellectually) with your company and with your customers. An engaged employee is fully involved in and enthusiastic about their work. Engaged employees are committed, passionate and inspired and they inspire others by example. They care about the future of the company and are willing to invest the discretionary effort to see that the organization succeeds. They are willing to go above and beyond as a standard practice. Introducing: Build a Better Workplace: Employee Engagement Edition Brought to you by Ipsos Reid and Canadian Management Centre For the first time ever we will be comparing the thoughts and opinions of HR professionals in conjunction with the Canadian workforce to understand where the real differences may lie and where the key pain points in employee engagement really are. The top two areas that drive engagement are leadership and communication. Improvements in these areas will have a significant impact on employee engagement. This research will conduct a parallel study among HR professionals and employees to gain their perceptions and measure the gaps between Canadian employees and HR departments. Many Organizations Conduct Employee Engagement Surveys, the issue that comes into play is when the results are revealed and are poor or unchanging. The question many HR professionals have is - Now what? This study will give organizations concrete now what information and actions. By drilling down into leadership communication, one of the largest drivers of employee engagement, this study will provide data previously unavailable to Canadians on where the issues truly lie, where they will possibly lie in the future and what we can do about them. P Build a better workplace: employee engagement
3 Canadian management centre How this study will help you improve employee engagement in your company You ll understand the measurable impact of leadership trust and how it effects the performance of the organization You ll understand if individuals who connect with the purpose of the organization are more engaged and satisfied employees. This study will prioritize which strategies are the most effective in driving employee loyalty related to leadership communication You ll learn how poor leadership and communication is linked to individual and organizational performance, success and outcomes. It will give you the evidence that will build a business case for executive commitment and action on employee engagement issues and opportunities It will provide you with ideas on how to improve leadership communication in your organization Understand how increased changes in diversity and generations in the Canadian workplace are changing the way organizations need to communicate. And how to effectively difuse possible tensions within the generations Understand if and how employees rely on informal communication channels for information and updates and what this means in keeping employee s engaged What are the effects and differences in keeping virtual employees engaged vs. disconnected within leadership communications Gain a solid understanding of what leadership and communication behaviors: Drive company loyalty among Canadian employees Drive collaboration among Canadian employees Drive innovation among Canadian employees Drive business results among Canadian employees Build trust between leaders and Canadian employees P. 03
