28 2/12/2014 A California Partnership Academy CTE Program for Grades 10-12

29 This program has been designed specifically for the student interested in pursuing a business or finance career and is support by a California Partnership Academy Grant. Specific Career Tech Ed courses have been selected to enhance the experience of students guided by a select team of common teachers and supported by local business. Sixty to Seventy incoming 10 th grade students are selected annually based on grant requirements. 9 th grade students planning to matriculate into this program are encouraged to take Mandarin or Arabic languages for true preparation for the global work force. 2/12/2014

30 2/12/2014 Courses such as the introductory Money and Banking Course, Business Statistics, Global Economics and Entrepreneurship/Multimedia Business Communication & Design have been selected as keystone coursework for all GBF students in preparation for business college and careers. GBF Senior Projects will showcase the culmination of skills through the development of a model Business Plan judged by the business community.

31 Junior and Senior GBF students have the opportunity to pair with a business mentor and have access to job shadowing and internship opportunities through partnering businesses and institutions. Additional opportunities are provided for all GBF students to explore all aspects of business as they arise. 2/12/2014

This year, Granada has established its first DECA Club which is a business and finance club for students interested in these fields and careers DEACA students compete in competitions throughout the world. This is a great opportunity for ninth graders to get involved in business careers!

34 Transportation Industry: Automotive Technician Electronic Engine Controls Brakes, Steering and Suspension Coursework introduces students to engine performance fundamentals, maintenance, diagnostics and repair. Introductory and advanced level courses are available. 2/12/2014 Established articulation agreement with Los Angeles Pierce College for advanced students.

35 Hospitality, Tourism & Recreation Industry: Food Services Foods Nutrition: Chef Assistant Culinary Arts: Catering The Chef Assistant course provides student practical skills in planning, purchase and preparation of nutritious meals and safe working habits. Culinary Arts students develop skills needed for entry-level positions in the food service industry such as apprentice cooks, catering assistants, etc. Advanced students participate in the Careers through Culinary Arts Program. 36 Building Trades & Construction Industry: Construction Construction Work 1 and 2 Construction Work 3 Pre-Apprentice Construction Work 1 and 2 provides students with fundamental skills and safety and includes beginning cabinet making, masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, drywall, finish carpentry and painting. Construction Work 3 (advanced construction ) prepares students to meet entry-level requirements for apprenticeship trades.
